Smarch 3,153
Seattle Crowned Champions The Seattle Bears finished off the Calgary Wranglers in a four game sweep, to win the Season Sixty-Eight VHL Continental Cup. The Bears were not favorites entering the season, but the team got hot at the right time. The Bears were a team with many young players that have yet to hit their potential, which could make next season even more interesting. The Bears will enter the next season with roughly the season roster, pending any free-agent signings, which will obviously make the team even stronger. The Bears will enter the season with the likely reigning Daisuke Kanou winner, as goaltender Ray Funk should be presented the hardware when the VHL awards are announced. The second year goalie put up a 12-1-1 record while also posting a .935 save percentage and 1.79 goals against average. Funk was a big reason that the Bears took home the championship, but we would be a miss if we didn’t say that fifteen players on the roster had a huge role in the fourteen games the Bears played in the playoffs. Congratulations to everyone on Seattle!
