jRuutu 2,464
Talked about it more than a few times, but now the day finally came - Rauno Palo is officially retiring. The official announcement is mainly to allow the next player to join up and I can start working towards building some kind of player right away. Palo had a pretty nice run, came into the league without knowing how to pass or score, but Beaviss and his school of yelling every day finally started to pay off, even won some awards a couple seasons ago! Got at least one cup and potentially could finish with a point per game pace, not bad. Thanks to everybody in Vancouver/Quebec, had a lot of fun in there, getting to win that cup together was really nice, only wish we had a few more. Would also like to say thanks to people in Riga, friendly place with great players, the 1.5ish seasons I have been with the team has been great, hopefully we get to celebrate a cup victory at the end of this season! If you get a chance to join either of the organizations someday - go for it, highly recommended. Next few words on what kind of player I´m planning on building out of the new guy, right now the main idea is to bring in a heavy-hitting winger who makes space for other players and also protects the top players, have that fighting ability in there to show what happens if you take a run at the stars. Not going to be pure enforcer type player though, some offensive flair is going to be added in, so I can at least be some help on every area of the ice. I must say this is one of my favorite moments in VHL, get to start a new career with a new player. Looking forward to seeing how the VHLM years go, that side of the league has changed quite a lot since I was there with Palo, I have no idea what to expect, going in with an open mind and ready to fight. Same with drafts for both VHLM and VHL, I can only guess that not every team wants to have a heavy-hitting player in their roster, some might not even have space for one, so going to be fun to see where I end up and how the start goes. Another cool aspect is getting to see how well this idea for a player will work when I have 1000+ TPE, not any kind of magic or secret build, but been a while since I had a physical winger in any leagues. Are there going to be enough players to fight with and what kind of difference-maker will the hitting be, It would be nice to be among the top hitters of the league during my prime years at least. That is the only individual goal I have - hit as much as possible and see what happens. I want to be known as a player who plays hard and is ready to fight. Either way, the ride is only starting. From this first week I´m hoping to get some interest from VHLM teams, getting to play in a team right away would be great, gives at least some kind of idea on how well I´m able to play against the better players in VHLM, if I do well - could have big impact on my draft stock for next year, so plan is to work hard and improve as a player as much as possible early on. Elmebeck 378
Saskatoon has no good picks for next season, but I'd still love you there. Strike that, I'd adore you there. jRuutu
