The beginning of the WJC was nothing but fireworks and excitement, and of course the constant buzzing from media outlets and management from every team. Each team had it's selection of players from their respective Nations, with the goal of building rosters that will compete for the gold!

Once the rosters were set in stone, the Power Rankings for the tournament were announced and some hasty conclusions were made that sent team Asia to the very bottom of the list. "Among other reasons for their placement being dead last, the main one would have to be their goaltending situation-- I mean, the starter they got was even skipped by his own country!"

Asia's dominance in the round robin shocked experts and viewers alike, when they started winning 7 straight and finishing on to the medal round as the.. new-- favorites!? The same team Asia that was suppose to struggle due to it's poor goaltending, was actually the other way around entirely.

This was mainly because the Canadian born goaltender that Canada didn't even take on as their back-up, led the tournament in save percentage with an astonishing 0.932 and also in goals against average with only 2.23, over the course of all 8 round robin games! The slightest oversight from Canada's scouts turned into Asia's ultimate trump card, resulting in a Silver medal for Asia in the finals and nothing for Canada. If that doesn't sound like the biggest whoops of the WJC tournament already-- Spyro went on to be selected as the top goalie overall, and win the Tournament MVP as well.. ouch.

Big things are expected from this Elite prospect in the coming days as we round the final turn before playoffs. Spyro is expected to live up to the hype and backstop the Mississauga Hounds through the playoffs, and maybe help lead them to the Cup!
