Spaz 297
It was the sixth game of the season, and I was going for my morning skate, when I noticed someone sitting at the benches. He was just watching me, but I ignored it and continued my practice, he would eventually jump off the bench and skate up to me. I would recognize him right away Ike Bennett@Caboose30 vhl teammate, but drafted by San Diego. {Ike}: You must be Spaz? {Jared}: That I am {Ike}:Just wanted to come over here and wish you luck, You're sure going to need it. {Jared}: And why's that? {Ike}: Because not only are you going to get stomped tonight, when you're sitting at home watching San Diego hoist the cup it's really going to leave a rotten taste in your mouth knowing that you got picked 8th overall, and it'll mean nothing. Don't get me wrong you guys have a solid team, but if you actually think you compete with us you might need to go see if you're concussed. He would end up skating to the other side of the rink to join with some of his other teammates leaving me to practice alone. After I got done with my morning skate I had a few hours before I had to head to the rink for warmups so I decided to get some lunch, I just couldn't get that thought out of my head of why he would want to say that to me, and I knew I needed to have a career game. A few hours had passed and I headed to warmups and felt confident, more confident then normal, the first period wouldn't be my time to shine. In the first the Reapers would strike first, as Xavier Hills would bury his first of the season a feed from Griff Manzer and Kyle Anderson four minutes into the period. The next goal came at 13:40, Xavier leFlamant his first of the season also putting the reapers ahead 2-0. There would be no scoring the rest of the period as the shots would be 12-5 San Diego. The First Intermission would pass, we would start the period with a power play that came 19:07 in the first, and that's where I would strike not one but three at :57 seconds in the second, 2:45 and 3:41 notching a natural hat trick the first of my career. As the little amount of hats that hit the ice because we were in San Diego, I couldn't help but pick on up and skate over to San Diego's bench, and handing Ike the hat telling him "I did this just for you, don't fuck with me' winked and skated away. There was still plenty of hockey left even though it was 5-0 now, and San Diego would try to storm back as they would break the shutout at 7:02 making it 5-1, that would be all for the second period as the shots would be 23-11. San Diego would come out in the Third period, and strike at 1:41 from Nikita Kulikovich his first, and then eventually at 5:17 on the power play from Roadkill Steve his seventh to make it 5-3. Both teams would score once more Uhtred (7th) and Derick Eriksson his 4th from Kyle Anderson and Griff Manzer. The Reapers would hold on for a 6-4 win, and the Marlins would have to pull Toppi Attakallio for dylen peterson at 9:01 of the third.
