Best players not in the HOF

HOF discussions have begun for S70 in the BOG and it's a pretty open field this year. After the near-unanimous induction of lifelong rivals Podrick Cast and Matt Thompson in S69, headlining the current crop are the likes of Oyorra Arroyo, Sebastian Ironside, Jasper Canmore, Maxim Kovalchuk, and Tyson Kohler. But while Kohler is getting more than a second look despite retiring back in S55, it's a wide-open era and with Mathias Chouinard recently getting inducted after a 40+ season wait, what other oldies might suddenly have an outside shot?

 

Everyone with more than 700 career points:

With Julian Borwinn racing against time to hit the 700 mark (he is currently on pace to beat it by 3 points) and no other active player on pace for more than 637 (Jet Jaguar)*, suddenly all the old no-hopers with 700 career points might have new life.

 

Kohler has the most points (751) for a non-HOFer and Canmore is up there too with 733 but there are 6 others – a diverse group featuring Lasse Milo, Wesley Kellinger, Brad Janssen, Chris Julien, Evgeni Fyodorov, and Max Kroenenburg. Do they really have a shot now? No, not really.

 

Voittu Jannula

How about a defenceman with 671 points, a Labatte, and two cups? The problem with Jannula is we've lost records for half his career, including when he was a forward to begin with, but what we do have is pretty impressive. Granted, we hate every defenceman who did well in S20, so Jannula's fucked too.

 

 

*one of just 3 other active point-per-game players, along with Ryan Kastelic and Kronos Bailey. That sounds fake but I can't find anyone else?? Someone please fact check me.
