S71 Draf Class seems to be stacked in every department. The have a wide variety of scoring a checking forwards, goaltenders and defencemen. The past couple of drafts have been Defence heavy, and in comparison this class is slightly weaker. With Roque Davis the consensus top defenseman in the draft and potentially the top player, Jass coming in second is just as guarenteed. Jass isn't just limping in, as he has been a force with the Houston Bulls leading their team in scoring running at a 2 points per game pace - 100 points in 50 games played. Add on to the statline that he has over 100 hits and shots blocked, he also has a staggering 16 power play goals. The big question on draft day is that will teams overlook this player, or will he be selected higher in the first round. It will depend on positional needs from a franchise perspective, because if a team is selecting at 4-7 and they need a top pairing defenseman we could see Jass going in that area. However, if teams were to select best player available, Jass will likely fall into the later end of the first round. That is mind blowing to think about and puts this draft class into perspective - a player who will likely enter draft night with 300+ TPE and second ranked defenseman in the draft could fall to 10-12th pick.
