• Hey, remember last week when I was touting the fact that Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen was back to his normal self after starting the season off slowly? Well it looks like that week may have been a mirage, as Smitty is back to being a very good but not great or top of the line defenseman again. Down to 3rd in total assists and 4 in points for a defenseman. My shooting percentage is really low, so I'm expecting that to rebound and for my goals to increase. Funnily enough, my best shot at an award this year may be the Labatte, as I most likely won't win the Valiq or the assist one whose name is escaping me right now, but my balance of overall points, SB, and hits may still nab me top overall defenseman.
• In addition to Smitty, Moscow is also sputtering. We've lost like 5 of our last 6 (although some were in OT or a shoot out), which is not good, but we also haven't really played NY or Davos yet. League parity is at an all time high, and while we're losing games, some of them are coin flip OT or shoot out losses. I'm not going to do the research on it, but I'd have to imagine this is the most competitive season in the history of the VHL.
