BarzalGoat 728
Let's start my first media spot in like 8 months with a SUP, I'm Barzy, I used to be a super active VHLM GM, and then life got in the way. Now with the quarantine stuff, I have some more free time, and I'm using it for a double's week!! VH-Chel, and Why I love This League So way way back when I first started looking for something like the VHL, it was simply because I was a new-er hockey fan, and only knew the Islanders as a team. I wanted to get more into hockey, what better way than a MyPlayer mode in NHL18. So there I was, grinding out games, increasing stats, et cetera, only to find it as an overall unfulfilling experience. What I really wanted, was a more passive experience, where I could share my love for hockey with others, while also watching my player grow, and earn accolades. I think you can see where this is going.... BREAK IT DOWN INTO SECTIONS. The Games So the games just sort of.... happen ! Your player is on a team, and because your player is on a team, they will play in games! I enjoy this because frankly, I couldn't find a skill level in chel that I particularly liked playing at. I was somewhere between the 3/4 and 4/4 skill level in the game, and if I played down I'd average a hat trick, but if I played up I'd ever less than a point per game, which frankly just isn't all that fun. Being in the VHL allows my player to live a balanced life, and I get to create a whole stupid narrative around him that people can choose to appreciate. Like literally just picked a random country that used to be a French colony so for my recreate so that I could make his last name "The Flamingo" in French, and now he's an alternate captain of a World Junior's team. The Grind The grind is as difficult, or as easy, as you want it to be. When I first got recruited by Spade (free clout) on the New York Islanders subreddit in 2018, I was a little skeptical at first, but the idea of welfare drew me in. I was in a weird place in my life, finished with University, looking for a job, and when you're looking for a job, you have varying amounts of time. I usually had time for a full media spot, and to be honest, I think I was quite good at them. It was a great opportunity for me to practice my writing skills, so much so that I even took on a job as a head editor for the VHLM weekly newspaper thing that Cole put together. This helped me grow as a writer, which I appreciated, and eventually helped me get a job, which leads to.... welfare! If you're a welfare player, you can still be an All Star! I did it, plenty of people do it. You don't need to be a TPE slut like @Enorama to find success these days, you can be any level of active and still find success in the VHL. The grind in chel... sucks, I just couldn't play another game of getting a hat trick when there's more appealing things to do in my time, like write about my fictional player hazing other players' fictional players when they joined the Helsinki Titans. The Community The above's why I came, but this is why you stay, what an incredible group of people here. When JT left the islanders like a snake, you guys were there in the discord to console me, and understand why I never left the Titans with Monty even though I had 3 different GMs while there. Great guys to talk hockey with, talk life with, or just overall mess around with. I can't say I'm as active as I used to be, because I'm not, I still get amazed with the awesome guys I meet in the smaller discords (which I am active in). That's what's great about the M, the WJC, the VHL, the mini discords, staying active on teams you left, joining new teams and getting welcomed, it's great! I honestly can say I've never met anyone mean on the VHL in the whole time I've been here, with the exception of Beav when you tag him 15x in a night on discord. As a whole, VHL rocks. Thanks guys, Barzy OUT! Victor and Beaviss 2 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/81146-vh-chel-and-why-i-love-this-league/ Share on other sites
