Miami Marauders Press Conference – Week of December 8, 2024

 

1.     We lost in the first round to a tough Mississauga team.  Since Miami is out, are you even paying attention to the playoffs now? If so, who do you want to win?

 

2.     The VHLM Dispersal draft is on the horizon.  We currently have a 2^nd round pick.  Anyone we should try to target?  Marauder alum Bazooka Joe is right around that area.  Should we target him?

 

3.     Who has the best player name on the club?  

 

4.     If Miami was forced to re-locate to another city.  Which city would you want?

 

5.     The off-season is tough, especially if you don’t make playoffs or are out early?  Do you think the VHL should offer a free week of 12 TPE during one week of the off-season to ease the pain of waiting?

 

6.     Since were out of the playoffs is your player golfing, partying, or hitting the gym in prep for next season?

1. Definitely watching the playoffs as I start to learn players and teams. Simon seems kind of random but it's fun to see the dice rolls.

2. Definitely. We know the good players

4. Miami is so good, no tax, great sun, and night life - why move. Oh we were forced. Maybe Charlotte?
5. That would be great to pay the teams not fighting for the championship, but as they would say - just win then.

6. Starting with some golfing and then hitting the gym to get ready for the next season.

2.     Is your player participating in Pro-Am?  

3.     Do you like the off-season tournaments?  Do they help the time go by until the start of the season? Or are they boring?

4.     What is your player’s biggest strength that you bring to the club?

5.     What’s your favorite sports movie?

1. Yes it does feel good. Sharks were reversed swept a while ago, but luckily it was to the eventual champion, LA Kings. If Vlasic hadn't gotten hurt by a dirty hit.... I still remember who beat us
2. Yes I'm excited to try Pro-Am for the first time, feels like a big party
3. I do like the off-season tournament to engage in different ways. Otherwise your player's right are owned by one team. 
4. I just want to do whatever needed to win - build my players, engage with counting booty, chatting in LR. 
5. Jerry Maguire. But Caddyshack/Slap Shot/Bull Durham are memorable - I just need to go rewatch them
6. Apple pie - a little spice and whipped cream and crunchy crust. Yum.

1. I stopped paying attention as soon as Miami got eliminated.

 

2. I don't know enough about each player. I don't think Bazooka Joe would be a bad shout in all honesty.

 

3. I have to go with Don Jager.

 

4. Somewhere in Texas like Houston or Austin because there kinda just similar in many ways.

 

5. No because I don't think there should be an award for losing.

 

6. Boris is plotting for what he is going to do in the VHL.

Thanks for letting me crash your press conference.  I need the 2 tpe.  Im going to go with no, it doesnt feel better to lose to the eventual champs.  What would feel better is to beat the team that could have been the eventual champs.  

 

2.     Is your player participating in Pro-Am?  

 

Yes. Of course.  I’ll play anything to get through the slow rolling off season and the best part of this pro-am is that I get to crush Logan Ninefingers and Brian Payne in one game.  

 

3.     Do you like the off-season tournaments?  Do they help the time go by until the start of the season? Or are they boring?

 

The only thing that I dont really care for with the off-season tournaments is that its not as easy to find the results for me because I lack computer skills to do anything worth while.

 

4.     What is your player’s biggest strength that you bring to the club?

 

Right now my player’s biggest strength bringing to the Wolves is that my player knows how to skate away from a fight really fast and let someone else drop the gloves.  My player is such a pussy.

 

5.     What’s your favorite sports movie?

 

Oh, that’s tough….  There are so many good sports movies, Rudy, Bad News Bears, Little Big League, Remember the Titans, Fever Pitch, Goon, Mighty Ducks, Draft Day, Brian’s Song.  The list goes on…. But my favorite sports movie has got to be Youngblood.  Just cant get Miss McGilvery out of my head!!

 

6.     Do you prefer Pumkin pie or Apple pie? 

 

The only way that I would eat pumpkin pie is if I hadn’t eaten in a week, was starving to death, and had a gun to my head while being threatened to eat the pie or die.  So my answer is I prefer apple pie.  Apple pie is delicious and it reminds me of my Gram.

1.     How are you enjoying the off-season?  Is your player doing well in any off-season tournaments?

 

2.     The holiday charity campaign came out with some great prizes and some good TPE.  Are you participating?

 

3.     We lost two players we thought we were going to be able keep yesterday.  This makes the draft that much more important.  Is there any need you think Ricer should focus on drafting?

 

4.     Watching some drama this week in VHL discord channel. Do you think it’s acceptable for a player to demand to only be drafted by one team they want in VHL?  With every player they create?

 

5.     Alexandr Ovechkin is 27 goals away from Wayne Gretzky’s all time goal record of 894.  Do you think he can break it this season?

1. I'm doing the Pro-Am - there are a lot of passionate people having a lot of fun. I think it's great to see the personal investment people have with this community. 
2. Yeah - happy to donate and help VHL and others. Did a +1 to help out as well
3. Our D has been a weak spot - he's doing the best he can!
4. Nope - they should move on from VHL. If we allow this, then everybody will ask for it. 
5. I think he slows down but he and that team have defied expectations. Most power rankings have them #1 even without the Great 8.
6. #7 or #27 if 7 isn't available. #7 is not a typical number

Miami Marauder Press Conference- Week of December 29, 2024

 

1.     The Marauders were able to snag a gem of a player in Sidney Sheppard @goodleft at #12 spot in draft pretty much solidifying our offense.  We are left with 3 defenders now; do you think it will be enough or will we need to add a defender eventually?

 

2.     Are you staying home for the holidays or traveling?

 

3.     If you could pick one NHL player (past or present) to join the Marauders, who would it be?

 

4.     We lost to Mississauga in the playoffs last year and they went on to win it all.  Does this make them our most hated rival this season?

 

5.     Is the movie Die Hard considered a Christmas movie in your opinion?

 

6.     Marauder defensemen, Armas Jortikka @Kavadarand Don Jagr @koty_k are set to become the top two leaders in hits all-time in Miami.  Jortikka is 60 hits away from the top spot and Jagr is 121 away which both should easily hit.  Pretty remarkable feat.  What do you think the team should do to celebrate when they hit it?

1. I'd love to get one more D to have the two pairs. We have the potential to go all the way this season but then Simon is luck-bot at the end.
2. A bit of both. We get two weeks off - one week home one week traveling. 
3. Macklin Celebrini of course. I'm a Sharks fan. So versatile, 2-way game. not just one thing.
4. Nope - as mentioned above, Simon is a luck-bot - so many good teams. We just have to be lucky AND good. I know @Ricer13 will get us good this season. He took on too much responsibility for our lack of success but I think he did the best he could with the circumstances.
5. CHRISTMAS MOVIE - oh come on. Are we really having this conversation? Is Home Alone a Christmas movie? Love Actually? Come on - there's not one strict definition. 
6. Sounds like a mosh pit time at center ice. Oh yeah!

Since I am crashing your press conference and partial to defensemen I certainly believe you should add another defenseman to the team.

 

2.     Are you staying home for the holidays or traveling?

 

I am staying home.  I plan on kicking back and watching some hockey, football, and some movies, along with walking the dog and checking out the scores for season 97 as soon as the season starts.

 

3.     If you could pick one NHL player (past or present) to join the Marauders, who would it be?

 

There is only one player who could have an impact on the Marauders that would be something I would like.  That would be Brad Marchand.  Scurvy would lose his shit.

 

4.     We lost to Mississauga in the playoffs last year and they went on to win it all.  Does this make them our most hated rival this season?

 

Oh absolutely they are the team to hate this season.  Every chance you get you need to let them know and you need to treat it as a do or die game.  

 

5.     Is the movie Die Hard considered a Christmas movie in your opinion?

 

Die Hard is probably one of the better Christmas movies of all time.  Now of course, you won’t see it on the Hallmark Channel, and it’s not a chick flick like Hannibal Rising, but it is worth the watch during Christmas.

1. This team is primed for a fantastic season and part of the reason I chose Miami was I believed they have a great chance of winning it all and that’s my expectations.

 

2. Be more consistent and be one of the teams leaders on and off the ice.

 

3. Tina went home to Michigan to visit the folks and siblings, another year of them asking if Tina was bringing someone home for the holidays another year of them being disappointed.

 

4. Hockey through and through. Some other favourites being basketball , football, soccer, spikeball .

 

5. Reylynn Reinhart, if Tina can be half the player Reinhart was I’d deem it as a huge success.

 

6. oh man that’s tough, I feel like I’ve had more PB and J throughout my life but if I had to choose one and the other was gone from existence I’d choose grilled cheese.

Thanks for letting me crash your press conference for the 2 tpe.  I’d have to say that I expect Miami to win the Founder’s Cup this season.  There is no reason why you can’t win it.  If you don’t then it is your AGM’s fault.

 

2.    Does your player have any New Year’s resolutions? If so, what?

 

Absolutely.  My player has a resolution of not being such a pussy and to toughen up and hit more, block more shots, and most importantly, drop the damn gloves and get in a couple of fights.

 

3.    What did your player do for the holiday break?  

 

My player didnt do shit during the holiday break.  He should have been working on his attitude and being a fighter but he sat in the chair and watched Hallmark Movies.

 

4.    What is your favorite sport? 

 

Football has been my favorite sport all my life.  Unlike @Scurvy, who prefers a really good soccer match to any other sport, I have to say that football is the best.

 

5.    Are there any VHL players that you idolize? Or try to craft your player like? 

 

Not really, but I did like Vinny Detroit.  He was a bad ass.  I don’t apply tpe to a specific player because I’m not sure it makes it the same.  As an example, Trueno has applied the tpe to make him a tough guy, but he’s a pussy.

 

6.    Best sandwich?  Peanut butter and Jelly or Grilled Cheese? 

 

PBJ is the best sandwich, but the bread has to be fresh and preferably not wheat.  I could also do a PBF but the conditions have to be the same.  A grilled cheese is fine and other bread can be used, but just doesnt measure up to a PBJ.
