There are reports that Guy Sasakamoose is finally getting his act together. Many thought Sasakamoose's career was completely over after winning a cup. It's been clear Sasakamoose has been on the decline the past two seasons. To the point where there's been almost no growth in his skill this season. It was reported by multiple sources that Sasakamoose had given up his career progression after finally lifting the Continental Cup in season 72. By all accounts this was the truth. Season 73 has been more than disappointing on a personal level for Sasakamoose even though his team managed to make the playoffs once again.

Now there are murmurs that Guy has been seen in the gym getting back into game shape for season 74. It's clear that things won't ever be the same as his junior and early career, but most are excited to see him getting back in the game. We managed to catch up with Guy to see what exactly happened with his career and what is causing this change now.

Guy, what has caused this decline we've seen in the past 2 seasons?

Well it was a lot of things. The world was shutting down and a lot of other things got in the way. I needed to worry about my own personal life instead of my career. I do wish I would have at least done the bare minimum but things happen. The hockey scene just didn't give me the same inspiration and excitement as it use to. I ended up dropping most of my interest in sports all together.

How'd you feel drifting from the league?

It was tough. I did my best to stay active with all the different groups I've been involved in. But ultimately the time just wasn't there for me. Priorities changed and I just couldn't keep up with everything. The league kept growing and I just couldn't grow with it.

There have been reports you are starting to get back into shape for the league. How's that going?

It's slow for sure. I've had my best season yet, but I feel this might be my peak. I've gotten big plans to gain momentum for my progress this off season and we'll just have to see how that goes. It's not going to be easy. I don't think I'll ever be as good as I use to be but I'm hoping to finish out my career in Riga and at least make a difference for our team. New people are showing up and I just haven't been there for that.

Any final words?

I'm excited to see what the future holds for me. I know my career isn't going to finish strong like it started but I at least want to finish it. I burned out early but hopefully I can recover things enough to be a decent player in my final seasons. It feels weird to be an old player now. It seems like so long ago that my career started. Hopefully this is the first of many appearances I'll make to try and get things started again.
