youloser1337 1,122
The VHLM season is coming to the end with only a handful of games left. There is one spot that is still being contested. Philadelphia Reapers and Miami Marauders are fighting for the last spot in their conference. Let's take a deep dive in how these teams got here and what needs to happen for both teams! Philadelphia Reapers - 70 GP - 27 - 36 - 7 - 61 Points Overview The Reapers hold the final spot in the Eastern conference. With 27 wins on the years with 61 points, they hold a 1 point lead over the Marauders. In a head to head battle with the Marauders the Reapers are 3-4-1. In the last 10 games for the Reapers they went 6-4-0. Leaders Their starting goalie, Jacob Carson [70 GP - 27 - 36 - 7] has a .885 save% and a 2.97 GAA. Darius Marimoto is the leader in points with 70 in 70GP and Carson Walkers is the leader in goals with 32 in 70GP. Final Games The final two games for the Reapers are against the Ottawa Lynx and The Mississauga Hounds. Versus the Lynx the Reapers are 2-5-0. The Lynx are currently 3rd in the East with 76 points. They can neither move up nor down with a W or L against the Reapers. Versus the Hounds the Reapers are 2-4-1. The Hounds are currently in 2nd in the East with 107 points. They can neither move up nor down with a W or L against the Reapers. Clinching Scenario Two incredibly difficult hills to climb for the Reapers to make it to the playoffs. The Reapers max points are 65 and min is 61 points. The Reapers have less ROW wins compared to the Marauders so they have to beat them in points to clinch. Miami Marauders - 69 GP - 29 - 38 - 2 - 60 Points Overview Hunting for the final spot is the Miami Marauders. They are currently sitting 1 point out of playoffs with 60 compared to the Reapers 61. They do have one game in hand compared to the Reapers. In the last 10 games the Marauders are 4-5-1. Leaders Their starting goalie, Rara Rasputin [64 GP - 28 - 34 - 2] has a .878 save% and a 3.25 GAA. Eoin Byrne leads the point total with 77 in 69 GP. Peter Louis II and Chicken Wing both lead the team in goals with 28 in 69 GP. Final Games Miami has 3 games left in the season. They are up against Minnesota Storm, San Diego Marlins and the Saskatoon Wild. Against the Minnesota Storm the Marauders are 5-2-0. Minnesota is last in the East and can't move up with only 35 points. Against the San Diego Marlins the Marauders are 4-0-0. The Marlins are last in the West and can't move up with only 23 points. Against the Saskatoon Wild the Marauders are 2-2-0. The Wild are 3rd in the West and can't move up or down with a W or L against the Marauders. Clinching Scenario The Marauders have an easier schedule compared to the Reapers, but with 3 games to play, stranger things have happened. Marauders have the ROW advantage so they don't have to win all 3 to make it. The Marauders max point total is 66 and min is 60. The Marauders can clinch a playoff spot if, the Reapers win 2 but the Marauders get 2 wins / the Reapers lose both games and Marauders win 1. Final Thoughts Playoff hockey is the toughest of any sport. It also brings out the best in everyone to grind to the cup. The Reapers and Marauders are both going to go out and lay everything out to win their spot into the playoffs. In an unbiased opinion I would say the Miami Marauders have the best chance to get into the playoffs based on the final 3 teams they are facing. Two of the worst records in the VHLM and a team with nothing to lose. The Reapers have a rough road ahead of them if they want to make it to the playoffs! Tune in to the final games to see who makes it to the big dance. fyrefly, DMaximus and Ricer13 2 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/93819-philadelphia-reapers-vs-miami-marauders-the-fight-for-vhlm-playoffs/ Share on other sites
