Yukon Capitol Rallies Around Rush

While most VHL fans are focused on the upcoming VHL Pro Playoffs, Yukon's capitol of Whitehorse has rallied around their small little minor league team that is crushing the opposition leading up to their own playoff run.  Being the largest city in Northern Canada and sporting a population of 28,000 people, the current Rush players have integrated themselves into the community and will be remembered long after they are called up to the Quebec City Meute.

Based on how poorly Quebec has done this season, and how well the Rush are doing, it is pretty obvious that most of the big contributers on the Rush will be called up to help Quebec make the improvements they need next year.  Players like Brock Waldron, Don Draper, and James Faraday may be leaving for Quebec next season, but they have made sure that Yukon will never forget them.  Many members have charities based in Yukon and will keep them running after their time in Yukon has passed.

One such charity is run by goaltender Brock Waldron.  It is called 'Kick Save and a Beauty', and is a childrens charity to help local children diagnosed with cancer.  For every shutout that Yukon has or 100 saves Waldron makes, he donates $1,000 to the local hospital to be used for cancer research.  So far this season the charity has earned $1,800 and The Children's Link Society and promised to match whatever funds are donated at the end of the season.

Forward Bennett Wahl has also joined in establishing himself in the community, though in a different way.  Wahl has been seen out on the town with various teammates bar hopping throughout Yukon without a care in the world.  If you happen to run into him at a bar and announce to the bar that 'Yukon 2 gud!' he buys you a beer.  Nobody knows why, though Wahl has been quoted as saying 'Its just fun.'  We remind you that Canada does not condone driving under the influence.

Finally Don Draper has just started a charity he named 'Heating the Homeless'. In a recent press conference he explained what it was for:

"Winters in Yukon a rough and there are a lot of people who do not have a home to go to in order to keep warm.  I want to open some homeless shelters and make sure that everyone of them is warm enough to keep them safe in the winter.  I also want to work with the energy companies to help the province learn better ways of keeping their homes warm for less money.

Content: 3/3 - Good content and interesting article, only thing is Draper was drafted by Helsinki and Faraday hasn't been drafted yet. Waldron is with Quebec though.

Grammar: 2/2 - Should dock you for the improper grammar in the title :P

Appearance: 1/1 - Images and a type change, I guess!

Overall: 6/6
