Toast 887
Coming back to the VHL, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I had a couple recent recreates that did not fare well whatsoever and was looking at this attempt at coming back to the league as possibly my last attempt. I certainly didn’t expect that I would end up in a solid locker room and develop a new friendship instead of falling back on bonds built years ago. Phoenix was selected very late in the draft by the Marauders and with them coming off a championship win, I knew that I was going to have to put in the work to stay interested and earn a good spot in the line-up. In new locker rooms I generally am a quiet person until I get the vibe and go from there. Fortunately enough early in the season, I was included in some of the light-hearted joking that constantly goes on in there by a great member, tina. Funnily enough Phoenix was finding some solid chemistry on the ice as well with Nathan Perry and it would all go from there. Perry and Phoenix became solid parts of any forward line and there would be some shuffling seen throughout the season. It was always a big event when Perry and Phoenix got put back on the same line and I’m glad that we were able to play our last VHLM games together on the same line. There was a lot of shuffling through the season but we always knew things would immediately click when our players were paired together. Perry was a force for the Marauders regardless of tina’s line and ended up with over a point-per-game at 36 goals and 78 points. Phoenix, being a rookie in the VHLM, didn’t do as great with his 11 goals and 46 points but that is still a solid output for any player. It would take more work than I’m willing to put in to look specifically at the points that came from our players when we were on the same line, but the offense always seemed to get an uptick whenever we would be put together. I’m thankful that I was able to get to know someone like tina in my first season and give some of the credit to keeping me around with this recreate because of the fun locker room. While the result may not have gone the way that we would’ve liked, that’s perfectly fine. We’ll always have some good memories of this season in the Miami locker room. Hopefully we’ll be able to reunite somewhere down the road in the VHL (no pressure, London)! The key to success for the VHLM is always to build an encouraging environment and I feel that Miami struck gold here being able to get tina so late in the draft. Our jokes and the bond created in the locker room is always something that I will look back on fondly and when Phoenix is inducted into the Hall of Fame, I hope tina will be there for my induction speech. @tinafrombobsburgers Red, Ricer13, McWolf and 1 other 4 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/97318-an-ode-to-nathan-perry/ Share on other sites
tinafrombobsburgers 367
this was very well written! You went into great detail on every point and even used statistics while still making it feel like a complete story! You spaced everything out well too! Glad I could help in any way this season because you helped me become a better player! And frankly I followed @Ricer13and his leadership in creating a fun and helpful locker room. My complete unbiased opinion gives this a 10/10 This isn’t the end @Toastthis is just the beginning!
