RicoTheTrapGod 18
Hello and welcome to the latest edition of Going Deep, I'm your host and NUMBER 1! VHL and VHLM report Billy Bonkers. I sat down with start prospect Kristof Welch of the Toronto Legion. And by sat down, I mean I found him in a bar, don't worry about it. Anyways, enjoy! (1729 words)Bonkers: Before we get this interview started Mr Welch, why don't you tell the audience a little bit about yourself. Welch:For sure, Mr. Bonker! I'm Kristof Welch, a newly drafted member of the Toronto Legion selected #5 overall in the latest VHL Draft. Despite being behind in overall skill so far compared to my other Legionnaire defenseman, I'm a top-4 defenseman for the team. I'm overall very new to the league, but to be drafted this high in the league and by Toronto, I am enthusiastic and ready to be apart of the cornerstone franchise being built here. Also on top of this, I'm been approached to be the new Assistant General Manager of the Mexico City Kings in the VHLM, and although I didn't personally pursue the job and instead was pursued, it is by far the best decision I've made. It's amazing being apart of a team that has a great future here with an amazing General Manager in Hylands that wants more than anything to make this team a contender year after year, and I want more than anything to be help be part of his foundation for this team. Bonkers: That's great stuff! I'm sure my fans... I mean YOUR fans are happy to know a little bit more about an up and coming star such as yourself. That's also incredible to hear that people around the league look at you as almost like a pillar of the community already! Seems like you're a very squeaky clean kinda guy. Now I'm sure you've ever seen my interviews before, psh what am I saying, of course you have! I'm the number 1 reporter in the VHL world! So I'm terrific at really going deep with my guests and uncovering things about them. Don't worry though, I'm not trying to cause any issues with teams.. haha.. So, lets be honest here.. Toronto... They haven't done amazing this season. Currently sitting at 12 wins in 38 games, that doesn't really seem like a good environment for a prospect of your caliber. How are you handling your first season in the show? Welch: The fans are what makes the game itself, Billy! I think any true VHL'er knows this in their heart even if they want to become an eventual Hall of Famer! I don't think I'd call myself a squeaky clean type of guy though, I'd just refer to myself as a team first guy and I think that's why the Legion pursued me in the draft over higher skilled guys at the time. They knew I'd be here from start to finish, and by my own pursuit that'd definitely what I'd want to have happen. Oh, you are going deep without a doubt! You are correct, Toronto isn't having the brightest of seasons in regards to the points and standings, however I'd say they are having the brightest season of all in regards to the future. Did you know, Billy Boomer, that Toronto's core is all within a few seasons of each other in regards to when they started their career? Myself, Scotty Kaberle, Jolly Greene Giant, Frank Funk Jr., Lester Greene, Klamasteris, and now newly acquired Gunnar Odinsson. This is the start, not the only, of the new core of the Toronto Legion and I couldn't be more happy. The environment is the best I can ask for as we all know that we will do our best to stick together to the end here in Toronto, and we have an amazing locker-room due to this. Although I won't get as much ice-time as if I was the best and only prospect for Toronto, I feel like I'm doing the best I can with the time I'm getting and I'm no slouch on either the defensive or offensive end. I do wish I was doing better overall, but I can't say I'm ashamed of what I've done thus far. Bonkers: Billy Boomer? How dare you young man, I'll have you know I haven't had to dye my hair in almost a month now! I'll let this comment slide, but watch yourself in the future! You don't wanna get on the Bonk mans bad side. I do like your answer though, very team first and I think fans all over the league can appreciate it too. Do you feel being on a shallow team such as Toronto affords you chances to mess up on plays? Really sink your teeth in and learn the game? Some say losing yields more learning opportunities than winning. Welch: Dye your hair? I didn't think old men dye their hair as much as you, but at least you stay good looking! Definitely not, if anything I feel the most comfortable here than in any other situation. Ask yourself, would you rather grow alongside other hard earning players that will also help you improve/put up points or rather play with declining vets? I want Toronto to be an amazing team and I want to be apart of the core that makes this team good, and to know there's other relatively recently drafted teammates that are as hard working as me alongside myself puts me in the best situation possible in my eyes. Bonkers: You know what? I can't even argue with that statement. Being able to grow with a young core like Toronto can definitely be a bonus for you and the rest of the younger guys on that team. Speaking of bonus.... Lets talk about the night life in Toronto? Sound good? okay cool. Toronto is known to have a pretty crazy night life especially if you're someone of stature. Now playing for the Legion and it being hockey, how have you been enjoying that side of Toronto? Do you and teammates like to "bond" if you know what I mean. Welch: Billy Boomer giving up an argument? I think you're losing your touch a bit bud, I thought you were a strong and guns-ho interviewer? Night life in Toronto, eh? Well I can't give out too much information, definitely in these COVID-esque times, but us guys in the locker-room keep in touch and definitely have fun one way or another, but the only way to find out is if someone joins the locker-room itself! I'm not sure what you mean by bond, but we keep up with each other. The best thing I can say about each person in the locker-room is that we all have similar goals in mind. We are all team-orientated and positive for the future of the Legion. Bonkers: Kristof you don't seem to know who you're in the presence of. That's alright though. There's a rumor that you left Hungary under mysterious circumstances. And that you may be older than you say you are. There's even something out there saying that you had to falsify some documents to come over here to North America. What do you say to these rumors? Welch: I actually don't, to be honest I've only heard a few things here and there about this Boomer guy, comes off as quite the boomer overall. I cannot confirm or deny any assumptions about my age, mostly due to the hilarity that someone will doubt my age, but I'll say that my age is what my age and I'll continue to laugh at the conspiracy theories about it. I like my goulash as much as I like the Toronto poutine, but I'm here to play hockey, boomer-boy. Bonkers: Well, I'm sure the truth will come out eventually. Whether you're lying or not, haha. One more question for you . You mentioned you're now an AGM in VHLM. How has that been overall and do you think management would be something you'll pursue further in the future? Maybe for a VHL team at some point in your career? Welch: Overall my career in Mexico City as an AGM? Without a doubt, the funnest and most stressful time I've had at the same time. Taking a job like this is no joke and no one should go into it thinking it's an easy responsibility. But I went into it hoping that I could find and sign a guy similar to me coming into the VHL as one of my career goals, and I found a guy like that in @vat. This guy is an absolute treasure and lock for a 1st round pick in the upcoming draft. He's worked his way to become a max capped player and I couldn't be more proud. Future management wise, I could not see myself go further than being besides Hylands side. This man has taught and been there for me every step of the way so far on my management journey and my next goal is to help get him and our team a cup. VHL is a distant far-shot and I only want to go to a VHL team in a management opportunity when I'm ready as well as when I've had success at the VHLM level. Bonkers: An eye for talent too? Wow seems like you're just a jack of all trades! I respect wanting to take it slow, though back in my day if you said you weren't ready, usually that just blacklisted you from ever climbing! I'm sure that wont happen here though, ya know the VHL and VHLM has gotten really soft. See I remember in my day the boys were smoking and going to bars every night. Now all you guys do is read stuff on your flip phone and date girls with colored hair. BAH, Well Kristof it seems like our interview has come to an end. Don't worry, I wont tell anyone that you're in a bar drinking under age, I was a young hot shot once too ya know. Could've made the VHL if it wasn't for my bum knee. I wanna thank you for sitting down with me and answering my questions. And oh, since you're a big hot shot player in the VHL, you'll take care of my tab right? *Rushes to leave*Welch: BILLY!!!
