  1. The odd thing is the "stats" Reuel currently has... I've never updated. My first update that was ever put in the sim my "stats" are higher than they are in the index
  2. Considering he has wrote an episode a season I'm not sure you are correct. He has also already told the people involved the ending to the series so they cannot muck it up completely.
  3. I read the series nine years ago (not Dance with Dragon's obviously, read that when it came out). I enjoy watching the series because I do not remember all the details of the books, also I am completely okay with changes they make in the show as they are working WITH Martin. It is not like the Hobbit where the director makes a mockery of Tolkien's work and the author has no ability to prevent that sacrilege from taking place.
  4. The basis for this article is that Reuel's attributes in the Index are lower than even my first update. Not sure why! If anyone has answers I'd love to hear them!
  5. Odd Misfortune Haunting Reuel in Bern Fans of the Bern Royals have very little to complain about these days. They have won eleven straight and look like a sure bet to win the European division. There is one thing that has fans up in arms, the play of mid-season addition Giovanni Reuel. Reuel was brought into the team to play on the top line with superstars Merica and TebowGow but has not lived up to the hype. After thirty games Reuel finds himself sitting with a measly thirteen points, while Merica and TG both have over one hundred. While fans are quick to jump to calling Reuel a bust and throwing all the blame for the team’s hardships against Brampton at his feet, the equipment manager has come to me to explain that Reuel’s troubles are hardly his fault. I went to the equipment manager of the Royals to see if I could get any insight into why Reuel has not been producing. According to the manager Reuel has the worst luck of any player he has ever witnessed! I asked for him to give some examples. “For instance Reuel’s sticks will be perfect before the game, I would tape them myself! But whenever he would go on the ice the tape just gets loose! I’ve never seen the like of it before! He tries to do anything with the puck and it just gets caught up on his stick because the tape is coming off! His skates are just as bad. The blades always seem to be dull, I have no idea what causes it. He has to have his skates sharpened between periods because they might as well be snowshoes after twenty minutes; it defies the laws of physics!” Personally this all seems like hogwash to me. Some sort of ploy done by the team to divert attention from Reuel’s poor performance, so I asked if I could see this first hand. It was just like the equipment manager described! During the intermission Reuel would come back into the locker room with blades as dull as a butter knife. I asked Reuel about how the equipment was going and if he has experienced these problems before. “No never. Not only do I have problems with the gear when it gets here, but half the time it does not show up! Everyone else’s gear will somehow survive the road trip but random bits and pieces from mine will be missing. People were curious why I didn’t put up any points when we blew out Yukon 6-0, I was using a spare pair of Chuck Goody’s gloves all night! Let’s just say the man has bigger hands than I do.” An odd story to say the least, Reuel ended it by saying he guarantee’s everything will be perfect for playoffs and that there will be no excuses. Bern will need this to be true as Reuel’s emergence could tip the scales in the likely finals tilt against Brampton. Words: 498
  6. The Bern Royals are an amazing example of athletic excellence. The team has won eleven straight games and are looking dominant heading into the final stretch. With offensive dynamos Tim TebowGow, leading the league in points with a healthy 19 point cushion over Sam Teibert, and Josh Meria, who sits tied for third in points, leading the way. While not the most press worthy question, but certainly a puzzling question, is why can’t Reuel produce? He is out there skating around with two 100+ point players while he only has 13! No one is going to question the success Bern is having but can they really push themselves past Brampton and win the league with Reuel producing at such a lack luster pace? Reuel has been facing these questions all season long and continues to say his game will be there for playoffs. Can Bern fans continue to trust the Italian at his word? I guess they have to wait and see. Words: 162
  7. Giovanni Reuel has now played eighteen games for the Bern Royals. So far his offensive production has been leaving much to be desired, especially since he is receiving quality minutes alongside Tim TebowGow and Josh Merica. Despite the generally slow start there is one statistic in particular which is driving the training staff mad. Reuel is shooting at fifty percent. That’s right through eighteen games Reuel has scored five goals on only ten shots. He has never been described as a sniper but his unwillingness to shoot despite his early success is driving his coaches made. We asked Reuel what he thought. “There are better players on the ice with me, unless I have a clear shot I am not going to throw something on net when my line mates are much more likely to produce. All I’m trying to do is not get in their way! With time I’ll step up to that level I’m just far from that point right now. It is really that simple.” To be completely honest Reuel makes a valid point. Hopefully he can start to learn from both TebowGow and Merica before the highly touted prospects leave for the greener pastures of the VHL. Words: 201
  8. First goal and assist of Reuel's career!
  9. Interview with the new Royal Giovanni Reuel Giovanni Reuel has officially been claimed off waivers by the Bern Royals; a lucky break for the Italian, as the Royals sit atop the European Conference with an incredible 15-2-1 record. The talented puck handler joins an offensive core that has been dominating the VHLM, led by Tim TebowGow and Josh Merica who both have over fifty points in only twenty games. I asked Reuel what it meant to him to join such a successful franchise. “Success breeds success. You see that around the hockey world, the best teams in the NHL like Detroit have great AHL programs to help develop their players. OHL teams like the London Knights also always strive to win and produce some of the best talent. So having the opportunity to play for a successful team like Bern instead of a team struggling like Moscow, who I believe could have claimed me ahead of Bern, is a great chance to develop surrounded by great players.” Playing for Bern is something that excited Reuel for reasons off the ice as well. Reuel was born and raised in Italy by German parents; he also lived briefly in Berlin. Bern is perfectly situated between the two countries which provides Reuel a great opportunity to see friends and family he left behind when he moved to Rimouski to play junior hockey. I asked Reuel to comment on what living in Bern means to him. “Bern is a beautiful city and one I often traveled through going between Germany and Italy. Being in such a central location is awesome because I can easily access my support network which has done so much to help me reach this point in my life. It is something I missed moving to North America. At the same time Switzerland is a great country with a happy people. Everyone speaks English, Italian or German so I have no problem communicating with anyone I meet. Overall I could not imagine a better city to start my career in.” Part of what has made Bern such a successful team is the active management provided by Sachimo Zoidberg. The VHL sniper is a player’s manager who goes out of his way to interact with the men who make up his team. I asked Reuel what sort of interactions, if any, he had had with Sachimo before being claimed. “Sachimo was one of the first people to reach out to me when I announced my intention of joining the VHLM. He asked about my game and drive then informed me he was going to claim me off waivers. Since he has been a great help showing me around the city and explaining what it takes to make it in the VHLM. I am very happy I ended up with the Royals and am sure with Sachimo’s guidance I’ll be able to realize my potential!” Confidant in his future and happy with his choice of team Reuel looks like a great addition to an already stellar lineup. 10. Hopefully he gets his first point soon
  11. An hour left in the Giovanni Reuel sweepstakes!
  12. Giovanni Reuel has declared his desire to play in the VHLM this season. The draft has come and gone but the Italian puck handler will without a doubt be drawing attention from VHLM teams looking to fill in their top six. He is European but has played in North America in the QMJHL so ending up in either North Amerian or European team is fine with Reuel. Early reports show that the Bern Royals are the first team to take interest in the winger. It also appears that HC Davos General Manager Reilly has taken a special interest in the development of Giovanni Reuel. We reached out to Reuel for a comment. “I have talked with a representative from Bern who informed me that he hoped to bring me into their team. Personally I see a great opportunity to play a top six role for that club and would relish the opportunity. Also on Reilly, he was one of the first to reach out and help me along when I announced my intention to hopefully join the VHL. Obviously the VHL draft is a long way away but he obviously made a great first impression but I will be focused on the VHLM at the moment.” Words: 206
  13. Giovanni Reuel Right Wing Age: 18 Handedness: L Jersey Number: 78 Height (inches): 5'11 Weight (lbs.): 198 Birthplace: Canne della Battaglia, Italy. The Man Giovanni Reuel is an Italian born and raised winger hailing from Canne della Battaglia, famed as the site of the Ancient Battle of Cannae not as a hockey hot bed. He gained notoriety playing in the German junior program due to his gifted stick work and skating ability. He is smaller in stature but is looking to excel playing a balanced skilled game focusing on defensive positioning over physicality. He is devoted to making it pro and is eagerly awaiting the end of his waiver period to see which VHLM team picks him up. Pros Stick Work Reuel has always dazzled spectators with his hand eye coordination. He is a student of the Datsyukian Deke and relishes the opportunity take on defenders one on one, situations which always end up favouring the sleek Italian. His stick work extends to the defensive aspect of the game as well. His idolizing of Datsyuk has made Reuel focus on how the Russian manages to remove the puck from the opposition’s blade with incredible ease and has made him an effective two way player. Dedication Reuel comes from a family of academics. He has taken this love of studying and applied it with fantastic results to hockey. He sees hockey as a craft which can be perfected with study and practise. He will spend more time in the film room than anyone else on the team. He is also mature for his age which continues to help Reuel focus on what is important and not let distractions impact his performance. Skating Reuel learned to skate through figure skating and speed skating. This background has made him a powerful and elegant skater. It is an aspect of his game that he continues to refine and believes it is pivotal to his success as a smaller player. Cons Physicality Reuel never liked the physical side of hockey. He appreciates the beauty of the game and always was infatuated by the skilled players who seemed to have the puck on a string. He goes into corners looking to poke the puck out, not to hit and rarely finishes a check. Strength Reuel is small. He is not a towering six foot four power forward and is not built like one. He will have trouble adapting to the more physical style of play in the men’s leagues as he struggles to not be pushed around by the bigger players. In the gym he is dedicated to improving his cardio but weight training is something he distains. Introverted Reuel is not a talker. He does not particularly enjoy the comradery of a team and prefers to focus on himself in his free time instead of spending time with the team. He is polite and courteous with his teammates but they cannot expect Reuel to interact with them anymore than is necessary. Projection Reuel is going to be a top six player. He has the dedication and mentality it takes to make the big leagues combined with the necessary talent to succeed. As he simply brings no physicality to the table he would not be suitable for a bottom six roll and likely will look for opportunities elsewhere if he cannot play top six. 14. Giovanni Reuel Giovanni Reuel was born in Canne della Battaglia, Italy at the site of the ancient battle of Cannae where Hannibal destroyed an army of over eighty thousand Romans. This rural area in southern Italy is not a hot bed of hockey by any stretch of the imagination, but Reuel’s parents were actually Germans who had moved to Italy as archeologists of the Roman Empire. It is from them that Reuel developed a love for hockey. Never having the opportunity to play on any organized team in his region of Italy Reuel studied the game intently as a child. He watched every tape of legendary puck handlers he could find; Pavel Datsyuk, Pavel Bure and Jaromir Jagr were his idols. Eventually his parents knew that Reuel was not going to be satisfied with simply analysing the game. When their terms were finished at local universities they returned to Berlin to give Reuel the opportunity to pursue his passion. While Reuel knew everything a boy of his age could about the game of hockey, he could not skate. To prevent him from becoming discouraged his parents enrolled him in figure and speed skating classes before letting him join a hockey club. Reuel was fourteen years old before he played on a competitive team. This can easily be seen as a huge disadvantage compared to other children but Reuel simply understood where to be on the ice and had a grasp on puck control none of his peers possessed. His speed skating and figure skating classes also helped him stand out from the moment he joined his local team. With only a year of club hockey under his belt he managed to crack the lineup of the Berlin Junior Polar Bears. Reuel was completely devoted to his craft. He continued to analyse the players he had as a child, falling deeply in love with the game of Pavel Datsyuk. Whose poise on and off the ice separated him from any other player in Reuel’s mind. Reuel knew he was not facing the challenges he needed to get to the next level playing juniors in Germany. He continued to study the game on his own time as, despite their best intentions, his coaches had never dealt with a player of his talent before. Once his season was over he knew he had to leave Germany if he was going to make it to the professional leagues. He decided that he would enter the international draft for the QMJHL. He was drafted late in the draft by the Rimouski Oceanic as he really was an unknown commodity, but Rimouski was attracted by his complete dedication to pursuing hockey in North American and his proficiency with the English language. It is in Rimouski where Reuel really developed as an individual. Until this point of his life he had been under the watchful eyes of his parents who had always promoted an environment of education and learning. The lack of this support network was hard for Reuel who had never been a very outgoing person which was made harder by Rimouski’s primarily French speaking people. Reuel and was taken in by two of his new teammates who unfortunately for Reuel did not have the same dedication to hockey as Reuel had always possessed. These two teammates introduced Reuel to distractions he had never really encountered in his sheltered childhood; primarily booze and girls. After being a star in training camp and making the team Reuel quickly became the focus of attention of the town’s youth. He had an exotic name, a charming accent and was a talented hockey player. The two teammates quickly brought him around to parties which resulted in Reuel having an incredible time, as young popular people do, but his game suffered greatly. Reuel stopped spending the extra time to study film, which had made him the standout player he was. He instead spent his time drinking and gallivanting around with different girlfriends. On the ice Reuel was not producing, the talent was obvious as was his incredible puck skills, but he was being thrown around by the much bigger North American players. Not only was he simply to small but he was developing a temper. Becoming increasingly frustrated as his poor performance on the ice resulted in people losing interest in his company off the ice Reuel lashed out. In a game versus the Sea Dogs Reuel broke the ankle of an opposing star player with a vicious slash. He was suspended fifteen games and his season was done. Sitting in press box the team manager came down and had a conversation which would put the young Reuel’s life back on track. The manager bluntly told him that he had tried to trade him multiple times throughout the season and no one had been interested. He said people around the league had heard of his antics off the ice and believed him to be a toxic asset. Reuel was shocked. He had not really thought about what he had been doing or how people would perceive his actions. He had been caught up in the excitement and drama of a popular teenager’s life. The manager made it clear that if Reuel continued to display this kind of behaviour while on his suspension Reuel would not be receiving and invitation to camp next fall. This was the motivation Reuel needed. Rimouski’s awful season came to a close, the teammates who had led Reuel astray were traded away and Reuel was able to completely focus on his game. He made sure to stick to a daily routine and a healthy life style. Hockey was the focus of Reuel’s life again. Now heading into his draft eligible year for the VHLM Reuel turned on the jets. The film room was Reuel’s home away from the rink and he only returned to his house to sleep or eat. The renewed dedication showed and Reuel was dominating the game again. Reuel had his eyes firmly set on being drafted by a VHLM team and nothing would distract him from his goals again. Words: 1014
