Claimed:Looking Back to the Beginning

how could u not? it started in waiver thread that spread somewhere else because gm activity was put into question! i remember it -
Sitting down to write my weekly article about the VHLM, I realized I had no idea what I was going to write about. Should I write about how Konstantin Azhishchenkov is wrecking on the Yukon Rush on their way to the cup? Or should I write about the Moscow Red Wolves? Or maybe about how General Manager Bruce Wayne is desperately waiting for this season to end so he can start his reign of terror in Season 38? Although those topics sounded appeasing, I realized that I have written way too much about that and it is leading to me having writer’s block. So if it is okay with you all, I would like to reflect. Back in late December, browsing through the HFBoards posts about possible leagues after sending out recruitment letters for a different simulation hockey game, I came upon a post about something called the Victory Hockey League, the self-proclaimed best sim league. Well this caught my eye and I wondered: what is the Victory Hockey League? A quick click and a little information following and boom I was ready to input my first player in the VHL. After going through about 100 names, I finally settled on a combination of 3 names: Konstantin Jaroslav Azhishchenkov. I do not think you could get more Russian unless I named my player Iosif Vissarionovich Stalin (Joseph Stalin) or Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin (Vladimir Putin). But I liked the name I chose and it set up a catchy acronym, “KJA.” So with my player created, I needed to become the best and make friends. It did not take long before I made my first friend in Flyersfan. The guy was there for me from the start and has supported me on my career so far. Big shout out to Flyersfan if you are reading this! Anyway, soon I was claimed by none other than Flyersfan (which in fact caused a waiver uproar that was quite interesting, but that is for a later time), and was ready to begin my first season in the VHLM. Sitting there waiting for the season to start, I decided that I was going to be the very best at this game (Just like Ash Ketchum!), and that this generic member was going to become a known person in this community. So to start off, I made sure to get the most TPE I could every week. That caught the eyes of many members, and soon I gained some respect around the community for being an active member, but I still had not really accomplished anything. I made more friends, including my best online bud, Eaglesfan, who is basically my online bro, then AwfulHomesick who is a big fan of mine, and I am a big fan of his, and Kendrick who like Flyersfan has helped me understand and enjoy this game more. (Love y’all) So after gaining some footholds in this community, I decided to try to get a job in it to become more successful. An opening for a Writing Grader opened up and I decided to apply. After being accepted, I started out with a bang completing many grades for articles and getting TPE for them, and it was great for some time, but soon this came to bore. What I really wanted was to become a GM and a Graphics Grader. Well soon a position opened up to become a GM, and I pounced like a hungry lion. Unfortunately, I missed out on that job, but then the ever so generous Sterling stepped down to hand the Vasteras IK J20 to a new GM. I re-applied, but unfortunately did not get accepted. However, after some heated debate, banning, and then un-banning I ended up with the job. Though very exuberant about the new job, unlike most new GMs, I decided to take action against the name of my team. After questioning many high-ranking officials, I was given the go-ahead for changing the team to whatever I wanted, so keeping with the Russian theme I brought in with KJA, I picked the Moscow Red Wolves…. Oh have I gone over the required amount of words? Wow, writing is really easy when you are just talking about yourself and history. Well if this article counts as a media spot and you all like it, I can continue on my story for next week and go more in-depth and be more jovial. Hope you all enjoyed! – D3vilsfire

The idea of a Russian team was created. The idea was confirmed. A city was chosen. A mascot was chosen. The franchise was officially moved. The home jersey was created. Now, what everyone loves to see: the jersey (away). Here is the away jersey I started working on for the Moscow Red Wolves. Let me know what you all think about it.

Hello. I would like to apply for the job as the mag cover artist. I have been very active and actually on VHL constantly, though I post MS near the end of the week (lack of ideas). I really enjoy making graphics, but have shied away from continuing them here because of the harsh grades. However, I feel like with being the cover artist for the mag I have full reign and can experiment with different covers to bring out the best covers! I really enjoy using pixelmator (like photoshop) and have learned many things from pursuing my interest in it and from other artists on VHL. I would really appreciate consideration for this position. Thank you for the opportunity!

We were recently able to catch up with star center, Konstantin Azhishchenkov, who had some free time away from the team, and he granted us an interview with him over a cup of coffee at the local café. Konstantin Azhishchenkov 1) Are you happy with how the season is going so far both for Yukon and you personally? After having a season where the team constantly was losing, and missed playoffs by a hair, it feels really nice to be on the other side of the puck. With Yukon, we are battling for first place, have clinched a playoff position, and possibly even contend for the cup. This change of atmosphere is something that I am glad I was able to have here in the VHLM. Am I happy with myself? Well after talking to the boss in Riga, I was told to develop to be a play making second line center. Personally, I like to score goals, but if the boss wants me to focus on the pass more and creating plays, then I will do whatever it takes for the team. 2) Since Yukon has already clinched a playoff position, how far do you think Yukon will make it in the playoffs? What team do you think will provide the biggest challenge to Yukon's cup aspirations? I am not going to make any predictions in hopes that I will not jinx anything, but I will say that we have worked really hard this season, so going home without the cup would really suck, and would definitely be a letdown for both the fans and the team. Our biggest challenge will be coming from the Turku Outlaws. After piling on the players for a run at this season’s cup, Turku has become a team to fear. I hold deep respect for their GM, and their players, and actually hope to face them during the playoffs. 3) You've been lucky enough to experience both of the Gow brothers as your GM. In what ways are they similar and different? Yes, I have been very lucky to have been mentored by the famous Gow brothers, the older Gow brother when I played for Ottawa, and the younger Gow brother where I am currently playing for Yukon. I believe that they are both similar in that both are very enthusiastic about hockey and their teams, but the relationship between the older Gow (flyersfan) and me is more of a friendly, professional relationship, while the relationship between the younger Gow (eaglesfan) and me is more of a jocular, best friend relationship. 4) Have there been any surprise players on Yukon this year (positive or negative)? Yes, Don Draper is definitely a positive surprise. My agent (D3vilsfire), discussed with me the prospects that were of interest, and he listed Draper at the top of his list. This intrigued me, as Draper was a late entry to the draft with little history; however, my agent proved why he is one of the best scouts there is in the VHLM. Draper has turned out to be a perfect steal at 10th overall for Yukon. The solid defenseman has helped Yukon tremendously, and he works extremely hard to do well for Yukon. Don Draper 5) Do you think Kimmo Salo has what it takes to be a cup-winning goalie? I do not see why not. Being taken first overall there is a lot riding on Salo, but I think he can get it done. Kimmo Salo 6) If you had to be stuck on an island with one player from Yukon, who would you pick? Uh, I am not really sure as I have not ever thought about it. I guess it would have to depend on the island to see who would help me the most on it. But I know that Draper would work hard to get us off, so I think I would probably go with him. 7) Are you excited to move up to the big leagues and be on Riga next year? MOST DEFINITELY YES! I cannot wait to join the Gow brothers along with many other teammates in Riga. I have made many visits to Riga, and I have chatted with everyone and have spent a lot of time with the fans.

We have breaking news this very early morning. Yukon Rush center man, Konstantin Azhishchenkov, was found at a Star Bucks this morning. Apparently there was a fight that broke out in the coffee shop over a drink mistake, and KJA swiftly and elegantly subdued both parties before much damage could happen. The courage and selflessness displayed by KJA has left a good impression on the Star Bucks employees in Yukon, who already adore the center man. “When I saw him walk in I was super happy,” said Mary Jane Stevenson, an employee at the Star Bucks, “and then seeing him putting himself at risk to help me just makes me love him even more.” As a thank you to KJA for his heroic actions, the Star Bucks has given him a week of free coffee. “We had to give him something,” said Stevenson, “though he profusely declined any repayment.” KJA could not be reached for comment, but his heroic actions were definitely notable. However, my question is, why is he getting coffee at 12am?

In a tough European Conference, the Moscow Red Wolves sit in 5th place of their division despite being the 7th best team in the VHLM. Despite not being in the playoff run, the players of the Moscow Red Wolves are playing some of their best hockey. “I go out there and play my hardest every game,” said S37 draftee and sole member of the Red Wolves S37 draft class, Kitsume Yamasaki, “I really enjoy all the playing time I am getting here.” Kitsume Yamasaki currently has 39 points in 27 games and is 3rd in scoring on his team. Percy Miller, who was originally drafted by the Turku Outlaws but requested a trade as a result of minimal play time, has performed relatively well playing right wing for the Moscow Red Wolves. Miller currently has 28 points in 26 games this season, good for 4th on the team in scoring. “It is nice to have my wishes granted by GM Bruce Wayne,” said Miller, “I am really happy to be getting first team minutes.” VHLM veteran Boone Cassidy has proven that he is one of the best in the VHLM. Cassidy currently has 50 points in 27 games, and his 1st in scoring for the Red Wolves “It is unfortunate that Cassidy has so far been unable to make the transition into the VHL,” said GM Bruce Wayne, “But I am glad that he still plays for the Red Wolves.” In the Red Wolves inaugural season, they are 10-15-2. Not too bad for a first season in a new environment. “We take each game one-by-one and try our best to win each one,” said Boone Cassidy, “but of course it is difficult to win them all.” Despite the relatively average season, the citizens of Moscow are quite exuberant about the team. “Our wishes have come true,” said a middle-aged fan, “I am so happy to have a team here in Moscow.” The profits for the Red Wolves have also increased by ten-folds. With brand new, state-of-the-art facilities, the Red Wolves provide an excellent atmosphere for both fans and staff. Red Wolves’ merchandise has also hit record sales. “We have so many jersey sales that it is tough to keep our stock of jerseys up,” said a local store manager, “the Red Wolves have definitely helped increase business here in Moscow.” With the increased profits and overall performance, talks and rumors of possible sponsorships are floating around. According to sources, the Red Wolves jersey’s and apparel will be sponsored by Reebok, but the player gear will not be sponsored by Reebok. “Unlike many teams, and other hockey leagues, players do not have individual sponsors here in Moscow,” said Team Owner Brendan Chen, “instead we have team sponsors who provide top of the line gear for the players.” As a result, there is a deal in the works for a sponsorship from CCM to provide the players gear. “A deal is in the works,” said a CCM representative who has knowledge of the situation, “and there is a 95% chance the deal will be completed and the gear shipped to the Red Wolves’ players.” In stadium sponsorship, the Red Wolves plan to officially announce the new sponsor in a press conference later today.

Good points by Coach D. Wish he would have been a little kinder about expressing them, but he is making a valid point. I do not believe, however, the updaters are being lazy at all, I just wish that a player got updated a little more. Browsing through these forums, I really feel like people need to go the the beach for a week and breathe.. lol.. we are way too tense.. You are getting engaged??? CONGRATS!!! Who is the lucky girl?

Flyersfan definitely did not recruit me! lol.. Confirm

Why does one have to mean the other? Does the VHL have the same draft pick issues and lack of minute issues the VHLM is facing? Do teams in the VHL trade away everything so that they can win the following season?

I would be to because im all about the team, but some people are not, and that is fine. Are you a re-create?
