  1. Linholm Returning to Form

After spending a couple months away from practicing in the VHL, it seems that Swedish star Jakob Linholm is slowly regaining his form and work ethic that made him one of the top picks in the draft a few short seasons ago. Linholm has become a regular at the Cologne practice facilities and that has got to have the management team excited.

Linholm has also taken the initiative to become more active in the Cologne community, appearing a public events and staying after practices to take pictures and sign autographs. While this season may not be a championship one for the Express, the fans have embraced the team and are looking forward to what the future may hold. A lot of their stars have signed contract extensions, including Linholm who signed on for a five-year deal.

"It does feel good to be out on the ice and trying to help get this team to the Continental Cup. While most people aren't giving us a real shot at the cup but we do have a great group of guys in the locker room and a bunch of hard workers. While we are currently not in the playoffs we are hoping to make a push for them and then anything can happen in the playoffs. I really believe that we have a great core of guys here and that's why I signed on for five years. The fans here have also been great and it feels good to give back to the community who has embraced me. It was tough coming from New York to here but the guys in the locker room and fans have made the transition really easy. I feel like we have all the ingredients to put together a championship squad and are a few key moves away from really being competitive in this league."

Linholm has been having a pretty decent year for the Express, despite not practicing for the first few months of the season. He has 52 points in 60 games so far this season and has only spent 23 minutes in the penalty box. He has performed well for the Express but no where near his potential. With the Express currently rebuilding, this season has been a write-off for them as they have been looking to gain a top pick so that they can quicken the rebuild they will be going through and battle for the cup sooner rather than later.

With the current core of players of Linholm, Logan Laich, Ron World Peace, Blaine Olynick and others, if the General Manager makes the correct moves and everything works out for the Express, there is no reason to think that they won't be challenging for the cup in the next few years.

Things could get very exciting in Cologne.

  2. Normally when a player gets traded to a new team it takes a while for them to get used to the new players that are playing around them but that hasn't been the case for Jakob Linholm. Other than a few exceptions, he has played with a majority of the players on his team. He played with Logan Laich on the Americans and played with both Ron World Peace and Blaine Olynick for a short while as a member of the Bern Royals.

"It is nice to be able to know a few of the guys from earlier in my career. It makes it easier to get used to playing in a new city and in a new uniform. It's always nice to be able to play with the people you started your hockey journey with. It's also nice to continue to play along with Logan Laich. He was great to play with in New York and remains a great teammate in Cologne."

  3. It's hard to believe that a man who brought happiness to the world couldn't find it himself.

Growing up I watched many of his movies (flubber, Aladdin, Jumanji to name a few) and good will hunting is in my top 5 all time favourite movies.

Hearing this was like hearing about the loss of an uncle.

    It just sucks.

  4. Hahaha I'm just a trailblazer

And I imagine it is quite a bonus, I'm not sure what was sent in the trade involving me but I imagine it's going to be looked at very closely from this point on.

I signed longterm because I feel like we can get something special going here. We're young and with a little luck we might cause some damage.

I'm hoping I can help lead this team somehow and win us a cup in the next few seasons!

  5. The last few weeks have been an interesting time in the VHL and one of the more interesting stories that has been unfolding has been the disappearance of Swedish star Jakob Linholm. He was one of the most highly touted prospects to come out of the VHLM for some time and was seemingly on his way to becoming a full fledged superstar in the league. He was having a decent rookie season for the Americans and looked like he was going to be a cornerstone for the team.

Then something happened to the player. He disappeared from practices and his training slipped. While he was still performing there wasn`t any improvement and he was beginning to seem as a bust and a liability to a team that was supposed to be one of the leagues elite. When it seemed all hope was lost and that he wouldn`t ever see improvement, the Americans did the logical choice and sent him on his way to Cologne.

There he continued to remain unimproved and all hope was beginning to fade away. People tried to contact his agency but they remained unavailable for comment.

But as luck would have it, Linholm showed up for practice at the Cologne practice arena in full equipment and was the first one on the ice. He seemingly found the spark that had disappeared in his game and his agency issued a statement and apology to everyone earlier in the day via VHL Radio.

It is good to be back on the ice and having fun again. I had kind of lost myself while I was playing and I just didn`t find it fun anymore. I don`t know how to explain it but I was just going through the motions. I have found my motivation again and look forward to helping out Cologne to a cup, something I regret I didn`t get to do in New York. I can only hope that the management from the Americans can forgive me for putting them through everything there and I am just looking forward to helping out the team and working as hard as ever to become the best player I can be.

With his return to form, this can make the trade between the Americans and Express a very interesting one and could go down as one of the more interesting trades in VHL history, especially if the pieces New York sent can help bring a cup to Cologne.

With his return to form Linholm could help become one of the premier players in the league and the cornerstone everyone thought he would be when he first got drafted. It should be interesting to watch how his career continues to unfold and if he can remain motivated to continue to improve.

  6. Greetings Everyone,

Now I know it has been a while since I have been on the site and the first thing I want to say is SORRY to everyone who I have inconvenienced because of my sudden disappearance. I think we can all agree that sometimes life can get a little overwhelming and I needed to tend to somethings that were occurring personally. While I should've posted saying something, I just never found the time and it always slipped my mind whenever I had a free moment. Once I finally had gotten things sorted out, My laptop decided to off itself and after finally getting it fixed I have found the site again (Which I admittedly forgot about). Once again, I am sorry!

Now that everything has been taken care of I hope people can forgive and that I can meet all the new faces here as well and want to continue my players development in the league!

    oh and I almost forgot....
