  1. With the Minot Gladiators being knocked off in four games in the North American Conference finals this season, it marked another disappointing end to Jakob Linholms VHLM season and VHLM career. Being apart of the Bern Royals last year his season ended in the European Conference finals last year and then his season came to an end at the same point.

While he spent two seasons in the VHLM, Linholm never got a chance to play for the title and that has left him feeling really disappointed about his time in the VHLM.

"Well I do feel like I never got around to accomplishing anything during my time here. I did get a chance to play with some great guys and I managed to gain a lot of experience and being here has really helped polish my game. I am looking forward to using what I learned here in the VHL. I would've liked too win a title while I was here though. I got into this game to try and help teams win championships. Individual accomplishments are nice and all, but the ultimate goal is to win championships."

This marked the end of Linholms second year in the VHLM and he will be making the jump to the VHL and is expected to join the New York Americans next season. The Americans finished just outside the playoffs this past season and will be hoping that Jakob Linholm will be the key to helping get them into the playoffs and competing for a championship.

"I'm really looking forward to getting to New York and playing with guys like Connor Low and Odin Tordahl. You watch them play through-out the year and they are really exciting and skilled players to watch. Hopefully I can help them and the team get into the playoffs and maybe go on a run. I'm hoping that with the talent that we have within the Americans squad that I can maybe win my first major championship with the team. I am going to be working hard this off-season to help polish my skills and that I am not seen as a liability on the ice. While I didn't get a chance to compete for a title in the VHLM, I am very excited for what the future has in store for the Americans and we are going to be looking to make an impact in the VHL next season and for many more seasons to come."

The future does indeed seem bright for the young Americans squad. With VHL superstars Low and Tordahl leading the way, the team will be looking at their young prospects to help ensure that they remain competitive in the league. While no one can predict the future the Americans are a young and competitive team who have championship dreams and the addition of Linholm is sure to help move the Americans one step forward to making that dream a reality.

  2. With the Yukon Rush sending the Minot Gladiators home by sweeping them in the North American Conference finals, its now time for the players to focus on what is in store for them next season. For some players, theri focus shifts to where they may get drafted in the upcoming VHL entry draft. For other, such as captain Jakob Linholm, their focus shifts towards making the jump to the VHL. After being taken second overall in last years draft, Linholm was sent back to the VHLM to gain more experience and help polish his game. Thanks to the amount of practice hours he accumulated this season, it seems he is ready to take his career to the next level and will be joining the New York Americans next season.

After narrowly missing out on the playoffs this season the Americans are hoping that Linholm, who managed to get over 130 points this past season, will be the final piece in the puzzle for their return to the VHL playoffs.
