How could anyone in their right mind cheer for Davos? The team is full of unlikeable douche bags apart from one or two. Last season wasn't as bad because they had one of the most likeable people in the league that sort of made up for the rest. But now that he's gone who gives a fack? I want nothing more than to kick their asses this series to shut them all up. I mean let's be real their team isn't even that good. Yeah they finished 1st but the European Conference sucks and if we had the team we do now we woulda won easy. Last year for them was obviously the biggest fluke ever and next season they are going to fall down the standings far. Riga 'bout to take over so get out of the way. Down to three games, let the best team win and let blood be spilled.

RIGA, Latvia - When trade deadline came around and the only move in the whole league saw Malcom Spud and Kameron Taylor head to the Riga Reign, there were mixed feelings about the trade. Some said, "it's too soon," for Riga to compete as they are too young. Others said the price they paid was, "far too much." Well after having these players for just over 20 games, I think it's easy to say that fans and management have to be happy so far. The rate at these two produced for the last stretch of the season was outstanding and really helped catapult the Reign into 2nd in the European Conference and giving them home ice advantage in the first round. Taylor put up 20 goals in 21 games to lead the entire league in goals and added 17 assists to boot. Spud had 10 goals and 21 assists to his already 66 points in Cologne, good for 2nd in defenseman scoring in the whole league. Of course it's all about what happens in the post-season which start tonight, but so far you've got to say that things are looking good from the trade.

RIGA, Latvia - With the Riga Reign performing as a top flight team since the trade deadline, there's lots of excitement in that aspect. Not only that but all season there has been a rookie of the year candidate on the team in Slaeter Fjorsstrom who has pretty much the number one D all season until Spud arrived. But after Fjorsstrom there is another defender who has not been talked about pretty much at all by anybody this season and that is Phil Villeneuve. This is his first season in his young career and while his offensive numbers aren't at a top notch defender they are very solid. He has 10 goals and 34 assists in 70 games this season which is very solid and could always improve. But where he's shining is defensively where he has 168 hits and 144 shots blocked. Currently sitting as the 3rd best defender on the Reign, Phil could easily improve to be a number one defender in the future. He's actually really picked up his pace lately and improving much faster than any point of his career. Riga fans need to start getting excited about Villeneuve as he is pants popping himself.
