  1. Ballin' and Shot Callin' Astro Singh is an 18-year old prospect that spent his last season in the VHLM playing for the Saskatoon Wild. However, Astro's path to the highest level of junior hockey would be an unconventional one to say the least. Astro has never skated, picked up a hockey stick or even heard of hockey until he was 16 years old. Prior to hockey, Astro was a big time basketball, Division I prospected that in the process of being recruited by multiple mid-high tier schools that were in need of a skilled, athletic point guard. Things changed when Astro was asked by his friends to try out skating and shoot around at a local ice rink. It was here where Astro developed his love and desire to destroy his opponents physically. With this, he began to learn the game, watching every and any NHL and/or KHL game he possibly could. Anything that he could do to learn, he would do. He became a student of the game. From then on out, Astro, who was already a top level athlete, decided to go all in on hockey and practiced every day at the rink until he was able to join a local B league. In this B league however, he stood apart from the rest of the group quickly. Although he wasn't the most agile of players, his rink IQ set him leaps and bounds above his competition thus getting him scouted by a AAA coach who just happened to be in attendance watching another player on the opposing team. With this opportunity, Astro was able to make this team the next season and cannonball through the league as not only a big hitter, but an overall playmaker that could do it all. He then brought this style to the VHLM the next season as the Saskatoon Wild ended up taking a chance on a basketball player on skates. In his first season in the "M", he lead his team in points and ranked high among the league as well in most stat categories making him a must watch prospect heading into this seasons VHL draft. He hopes to bring grit, toughness and excitement to any team that decides that he is the right fit for them. When asked, Astro stated that he wants to be with one team for his entire career. "My uncles have all hopped around in this league but not one has been able to be the face of the franchise. I want to be able to say that I am, THAT guy."
  2. 1. DONT CARE. If our boys ain’t in it I ain’t watching . Honestly though I check out when we were out after the first round so I’m not even sure who’s in it. It’s all good though I’ll say Vegas because I’m guessing they’re in it. 2. I think we started off with a solid group so it was nice having cool teammates that’s for sure. 3. Honestly l just want to go to someone’s who’s a contender. I want to win. Being ranked 9th puts me in a good spot. I won’t mind being on a team that’s very close either so that we can contend for multiple seasons. 4. winter. I sweat too much for summer for real. 5. Lava cake with vanilla bean ice cream EASY. 6. a Chiropractor. Because that’s what I currently do
  3. So in order to understand what and how the league has changed, I pose a question to the GMs of the league. What is the single most important factor in drafting a player? Do you look at numbers heavily? I would imagine that making sure the TPE is high and the weekly average being important statistics, but do you look at advanced stats and numbers such as how much TPE the player has accumulated since their creation? The next part of the this question has to more so do with the activity of the creator. How much does that actually factor into the decision? I know that it's standard for GMs to message around and ask, how active will you be? How about in the locker room? Questions that we have all been asked for years, even back to the days when I was on my second and third players. However, I challenge the relevancy of these questions and said personal messages. I'm in the party that thinks these things are more for formality rather than actual weight to the process. Now I open it up to all you chicken nuggets. What do you feel makes, "a good draft?".
  4. In today's episode on "Y'all should fight me on this" we discuss how the 200 TPE application cap for the VHLM is absolute hot garbage. Why limit a player's ability to succeed and punish players for being able to exceed that amount during their draft year. Now, lets face it, there's probably some rules that I don't really know about like players are unable to be sent down after 200 TPE or something scandalous like that but I still see no point to it. Players in the real world are not suddenly told they can no longer practice until they get drafted. I understand this is to more than likely to keep the league competitive however isn't that the jobs of the GMs to be able to find players to keep the team competitive? I need some explanation because I just ain't getting it. Do we still send down players to the VHLM if they don't make the big squad? This is a paid advertisement.
  5. this one is so ass hahahaha
  6. 1. RALLY DOGS BABY WE DA WOLVES. I hope we upset someone. I feel like that would be pretty darn fun. 2. I think this season was mostly about me re-learning the vhl system and how to earn and construct a player. Also finding times to make graphics and finish point tasks. 3. Jordan brand or the first official yeezy athlete. Imagine a pair of Yeezy skates. FIRE. 4. Not going to lie I've been throwing it back recently and watching WWE. Key is to watch it as a drama/soap opera and not a sport. 5. This one probably couldn't be more obvious 6. RASPBERRIES. Most underrated berry of all time.
  7. 1. I am! I wish it was a bit more but the circumstances and what there was to work with I think it was fair. 2. I mean if we’re not in it I don’t care much for it. I’m going to be working on my player getting that work in. 3. I’m going off the record here and saying brunch is the way to go. Can’t loose with brunch foods. 4. pesto protein pasta with grilled chicken breast and a side salad. Ain’t no bettttter! 5. anything with YG in it. Let me get my hood out a bit before playing! 6. when you get speared in the stomach when your stick gets caught in the boards. The worst thing EVER.
  8. In this week's edition of VHL Sports Science, we take a closer look into a new obsession of the league; wearing a weight lifting belt while playing games. Now when we think about this from an outsider's perspective, it makes absolutely no sense. However, the players in the league that do it, swear by it. One player went on to say "I can't live without it, I wear it everywhere now. My wife has never been happier." Does a weight lifting belt really help however? The VHL Sports Science team was on it and after conducting a review they showed that the belt may provide stability and psychological support to a player so they feel they are stronger and less likely to get injured. For game play, the only real advantage may be during the player's slap shot. The increased intraabdominal pressure may allow players to exert more force during activities that require high levels of strength like slap shots or hitting. Other than that, they really be out here just lookin goofy.
  9. 1. For sure a night owl but I need to transition more into a early bird. 2. I bought strippers for the locker room and a bunch of coke zeros. 3. Wait the trade deadline passed and there were trades? I need to update myself here. It was expected though. 4. I think the season has been a little underwhelming but its how the cookie crumbles sometimes but its not due to a lack of effort thats for sure! 5. Christmas! Brings the family together and everyone is generally happier. 6. Anything brownie. I'm absolutely addicted to brownie related ice cream it may be a problem.
  10. I must be trippin, I don’t remember that at all!
  11. Bruh I didn’t know you were Indian too??? @Quik
  12. After last week's discussion on the single most important attribute for an offense build player, it's time for VHL's Sport Science team to look into the single most important attribute... Period. However, research on this did not take nearly as long. It's been a long standing fact that defense is the most important attribute for any player and any build. It's been like this for years as there has been multiple test simulations in the past and present which have stated the importance of defense. Just how important is it though? If you're in the VHLM, 70 has been the benchmark before you can even think about making the jump into the VHLM. If you're a VHL player, it will need to be above 90 at all times if you'd like to have your player be competitive for many years. With defense being so important, it's often overlooked that defense, and skating go hand in hand, and has been proven in past tests that when defense is higher, skating has more of an effect on a player. All these factors must be taken in account when refining your skills to be the next VHL star. Until next time, this is your VHL Sports Science research center update.
  13. 1. So far I’m fairly satisfied! About what I expected going into the season but hoping he’ll pick up the pace soon as well! 2. The hardest aspect is the speed of the game and how much it differs based on the level you play at. It’s noticeable as you change levels that’s for sure! 3. GIVE ME A PUPPPPYYY. I’m a dog person so I’ll take any pupper Ill get. 4. Teleportation. I currently rotate my weekends between 3 cities all hours apart so that would make my life waaaaaay easier. 5. My player goes to the gym and lifts. Best way to handle adversity is to go lift and get huge because why the heck not. 6. Basketball! I have a history of playing at a high level so it’s always been of interest for me.
  14. Lets have a Debate. We had the science institute at the VHL sports science offices are conducting research on which attribute is the single more important attribute for a goal scorer to have to be important in our league. We have reached our to VHL.com to help broaden our reach so we can get answers to bring you the latest and most up to date research. When looking at forwards, and goal scoring specifically, we can conclude that there is really 4 attributes that are the most important. Two of these four seem like no brainers, they work on offensive attributes that help build a strong base for long term dominance. The other two however are more "dark horses" and often overlooked however with a history of a league where defense lead to offense, they can be big factor in overall offensive output. Lets start with the obvious. Offensive vision is one of the most important parts of being an offensively gifted player. Scoring and passing both depend heavily on this attribute. Next is slap shot. With this we know that not only does this help with scoring from anywhere on the ice, but it helps make sure your player has the strength to keep the puck near him to do so. The two dark horse picks are as followed. First would have to be stick handling. Generally, players with great stick handling are masters with the puck and can do so at high speed with their well developed skating. The second dark horse pick would be deking. This takes a different approach than the rest. Not only is deking helping players to keep the puck on their stick but it also aids in the defensive zone so players could have their defense lead to offense. So what do we think fellow players, which attribute do you think is the MOST important for a scoring forwards. Leave your comments below!
