A one-goal game against Yukon is a bit too close for comfort. Seems defense is still an issue here. At least the shot differential shows we should be dominant. #fixthelottery

I clicked this thinking "this better not be another one-goal game." It wasn't. #fixthelottery

I mean...Scott Greene did a thing I guess? Good showing from our first line, and Greene is finally producing. There's a plus. Just not much else at the moment. #fixthelottery

@berocka BRINGING IT! I almost don't care about this loss, you're showing great improvement.

I put up good defensive numbers at least? I don't know. Two losses to Toronto = not a great day. At least people have shut up about our team though. #fixthelottery

Good to see Garcia getting 2 assists in there! Shows my passing game hasn't become completely worthless. Tough loss though. Toronto is weird. #fixthelottery

Basically, the lottery system works like this: every week, a random game thread is selected, and from that game thread a random comment is selected. Whoever made that comment gets 3 uncapped TPE. The same thing is also done every month, with winners of the monthly lottery able to get even bigger rewards (for example, up to 16 uncapped TPE, a doubles week, and some player store cash if you're lucky enough). Here's an explanation of what exactly I have an issue with. Please feel free to have your own opinion on the matter, but here's why I think it should ABSOLUTELY be changed:

I agree--I wouldn't like to see anti-spam guidelines being put into the current system just because of stuff like this. Even things like "great game by *insert first star here*" or "oh look--*team* got *this many* shots off. *other team*'s goalie can't be blamed for this one" are two posts that are relevant and do have potential to start conversation. But to someone commenting for the lottery, does any sort of reply matter? Do they care? Speaking from personal experience, I myself find it hard to care about every single one of my team's games, and I wouldn't like to have a conversation about each and every one. So no, I really don't care. I'm commenting for the lottery, unless there's something about the game that I find particularly interesting. In that case, I'd be commenting regardless of whether or not the lottery existed in its current format. If what we had now was modified so as to have nothing to do with game threads, I'd still comment about what I was interested in, and avoid commenting about what I wasn't. It really is. When I started up the whole thing, I saw spam as a possible consequence, but decided to go through with it anyway. If you bother going way back on my profile, through way too many posts, you'll find an old status update from back when I posted the original "FIX THE LOTTERY SYSTEM GODDAMMIT" thread, which says something along the lines of "want to see the lottery system change? Add #fixthelottery to your comments on game threads!" That's what I intended it to be, and that's what I have done, personally. I comment on my team's games in just the same way I was before I ever thought about actually trying to do something about the system--drop in a comment about the stats or the outcome or shot differential or "Garcia scored? That's not supposed to happen," and simply throw in a little "#fixthelottery" at the end. It seemed like everyone had forgotten all about it within a few days, but recently others have started using #fixthelottery again, but making that the ONLY THING they're posting or throwing in some comment about how their post is just for the lottery. I have never supported this, never promoted it, and, in fact, I've even straight-up told my own team not to do it, and to use it the way I've been using it. I'm not saying I'm surprised by what's happened with it, but I'm slightly disappointed. HOWEVER, again, it's getting some sort of notice, and it seems like I've gotten people on board with it. Go forth and use it, please! Just don't spam it. That's not how you get results.

Garcia had more shots than Odinsson. Funny how things work out. Good to see that we finally were able to beat New York after our losses in games previous. Also, it seems that Ylonen actually does well against us. @Esso2264 can you make him be good somewhere else? #fixthelottery

I mean, I throw it in with my comments on game threads, but I at least keep what's before it relevant to the game. I don't agree with the comments that are literally just "#fixthelottery." Never intended it to end up creating more spam, but it is what it is. I'm happy people are noticing it, at least.

I don't have an issue with this either, and a couple other people come to mind who have done pretty much the same thing. The issue I have is that the system makes something like this the best way to win.

Hi @Mini Muu and welcome to the league! I'm GustavMattias, GM of the Mississauga Hounds, and I'm writing to offer you a spot on our roster. Right now, we're making a run at the playoffs, and I can say fairly confidently that we'll make it. If you come here, I'll be putting you on the third line, but you can work your way up the chart if you end up active enough. If you're interested, feel free to quote my offer and say "accepted," to make it official! Regardless of which team you join, welcome to the league, and feel free to ask me if you have any questions! -Gustav

My goalie was also a YouTube recruit, and I'd be interested in hearing exactly what it was on YouTube that you guys saw. Apparently, this season there was some ad out there that said our league was "just like NHL 19" or something like that, so we had a lot of people signing up and then immediately leaving because they thought this was an NHL 19 sim league, and it isn't. I've heard there was some other thing out there (someone gave us a shoutout or something) that sort of worked, but this season, YouTube recruits in general have not been good signings because of the aforementioned ad. Just thought I might put that out there before someone gets the wrong idea about what I said earlier.

Losing to New York again? I blame Dil. #fixthelottery

Make it Possible to @ All Members of a Team at Once
Gustav replied to Gustav's topic in Suggestions and Complaints
I'm not sure who can do what, but I know for a fact that I at the very least am unable to @Brand Executive, and I don't think I can @ Members either (though I'm not going to try). Maybe I'm just doing something wrong. Perhaps "who's on what roster" could be coded to automatically update? I don't know my code. -
What? We won in the shootout? Must be our one player with a 41 PS rating. Oh yeah #fixthelottery

We tried. The shot differential was better than it's been in previous Ottawa games, at least there's that. #fixthelottery

Here's another thing I've been thinking about lately. #fixthelottery is still my number one, but--it would be incredibly helpful to those who have good reason to do so to be able to tag all members of a certain team at once, with one single tag. For example: In my weekly press conferences, I post questions and then tag each member of my team individually. Copy and paste exists, but what if I could replace that big block of tags (which, especially when I've added new players, might not even be accurate) with a little "@Mississauga" to effectively, and accurately, tag every player on the Hounds roster? What about league announcements, too? Let's say Bana is writing up an announcement for the VHLM, and doesn't want to tag every single player in the VHLM individually. Which, since he doesn't (and neither would I), it can be safely assumed that this is the case. He also doesn't want to use the members tag, as it would alert half the people on this site to a bit of information entirely irrelevant to them, and likely make quite a few people be less than thankful for his existence. In that case, what about a "@VHLM Player" tag, to ping only those members in the VHLM? This tag would also prove quite helpful in such places as the VHLM Fantasy Zone, where Josh has to compile a list of all members to tag individually. If we're worried about these tags being abused, there's nothing to say that they can't be made available only to those who would use them for good, like GMs and commissioners. I'd understand if this isn't worth the time, as it's relatively a minor issue, but in my opinion, those who could use it would really appreciate it.

Wish you could stay Boom. One season of actually knowing you isn't enough

Hi @frescoelmo! You probably don't know me but I recognized your name as a league vet. If you're interested on joining a legitimate contender that's full of promising prospects and will only get better as the season progresses, then the Mississauga Hounds are the team for you. You'll find yourself getting good ice time right away and can even find yourself on our first pairing heading into the playoffs if you develop well enough. You know the deal--if you're interested, quote and accept. No matter which team you join, good to see you back in the business! -Gustav
