  1. I remember you briefly mentioning them at one point like...a year ago maybe. One of my friends is very into them as well. I started listening to them recently and I love it. I think some of their stuff is very similar to Riverside, who we talked about at one point as well.
  2. Not fun, but what little I've done has been rewarding! I feel like I'm working at something and improving myself. I certainly wouldn't call myself a runner yet, but I'm starting to understand the appeal of it (even though I feel like I'm going to die after a mile and a half). Hope all goes well this season!
  3. What sort of conference is it? I'm definitely going to have to go to some academic/scientific ones as a grad student and have absolutely no idea what to expect.
  4. If you like a good blend of folk/country/pop, you *may* find the Grateful Dead interesting if you've never listened to them before. I don't know my country but some of their stuff is in that vein (it's not for everybody, but if you like them you might really like them). Also, jazz trumpet player here! Keep it up for sure--it's shown me a lot of good music and made me a lot better at understanding it as well.
  5. Definitely look further into the artist then! Most of his stuff is instrumental and absolutely filthy if you're a fan of good chord progressions. What do you listen to in general? I love to talk music.
  6. Hi everyone! It's Thursday night, and I'M BORED. I want to know what's going on in your life--good, bad, ugly, exciting, or even boring. Literally anything is cool because I love a good bit of insight into who you are and how you work. I'll start! I've been trying to mix up what I listen to on Spotify because for WAY too long, all I did was listen through my liked songs over and over. I ended up hating quite a bit that I should love and did love for a long time. Lately, I've been finding a lot that I really like by just picking a random playlist or a random artist every day. If you like jazz (or even some forms of chill hip-hop), listen to this. I'll add that it's an absolute masterpiece if you know a thing or two about chord progressions and music theory. If you like rock, listen to this. If you like funky pop-rock (or just want to listen to something really fun), listen to this. School-wise: it's final project time, and this semester I've got FOUR of them. It hasn't picked up quite yet, but I've got two weeks straight off from work at the start of May and I'll need them. I've started going to the gym for the first time in, well, ever! I have a lot to learn, and two of the three times I've been, I just ran on the treadmill. I haven't run a mile straight since...I don't even know when, but both times I managed to do three miles in total (with breaks). I definitely need the exercise, because even though I've never needed to lose weight, I've also never been in shape, and those are two entirely different things. I'm also trying to spend less money. Usually, I spend how I want because I never blow it all on anything huge, but I recently downloaded Truebill and found that I'm saving a bit less than I'd like to. I'm not in financial trouble at all, but it's made me a bit more conscious of things like "do I really need to buy a snack on my run to the store for something completely unrelated?" Also, HOW DOES ONE FIND AN APARTMENT? I'm poking around a little at listings for next semester, and my problem isn't that I can't find anything so much as it's that I have no idea what to pick and there's so much available. I don't know what to look for, and I'm not confident I can pick anything without seeing it in person. But enough about me. What's going on with you?
  7. So this is your fault
  8. I like a lot of your picks; Markinson will definitely go off. Have fun coming in 2nd
  9. Damn, I can't read! Looking forward to this season's rematch
  10. I'd be really proud of this group (and I am), but last season my group finished in 2 days. Get on my level
  11. G - David Davis And @Spartan WE ARE DONE! Do your stupid spreadsheet thing.
  12. ...what do you mean by "best goalie"? There are a lot of ways that question could be interpreted.
  13. @samthemancub no one else needs a forward, so feel free to make your pick whenever you'd like!
  14. I've got no time for more leagues at the moment, but that's really cool! Best wishes to the WSBL. I wonder--is there any way to get our 6-point tasks affiliated with PBE stuff? I know their tasks don't line up super well with ours, but they do have articles with a money-based payout system to them that can go way beyond 500 words if the writer is so inclined. Having a 6-TPE affiliate option there could work wonders for both leagues.

  16. Week 3
  17. @Eso skipped; feel free to make your picks whenever you can. @Berocka back on the clock
  18. By this logic, then, what's the point of the "player" field? I get why this could be (and probably is) just "there's already a place to write that if you want", which is true. I just don't want this thread to turn into "lol Gustav doesn't know what a sig is" because the same point could be made against having an option to include your player's name and that's a thing already.
  19. As a former GM who asked press conference questions almost every week for close to 3 years...it really burns you out to be the question-asker. Some weeks I took over an hour to come up with six questions (though I always tried to ask new and interesting things every week rather than recycling things or asking lazy questions). That isn't an excuse, of course--I think a GM should certainly be dedicated enough to their team to do it--but it's much easier to answer every week than ask. I'm a goaler, so not at all! I did some BoG work in creating the skills, which took a good minute, but haven't had to use them yet. No. My Discord name is "Chief of Horny Police", so I certainly couldn't reconcile one of those things with the other. Real talk, though--someone who was on OnlyFans at some point...sure, whatever, I'm willing to forgive and forget and I like to think I'm open-minded enough to leave those things in the past. Someone who currently makes money there is a bit of a different story in that I think you get out of a relationship what you put in. I would never feel comfortable putting myself out there like that in a relationship because the only person I'd want thinking of me in certain ways is the one I'm in the relationship with, and to purposely make others think of me like that is super disrespectful to my partner. If someone wants to be on OnlyFans, that's 100% their right--I just personally want someone who has the same respect for me that I'd have for them. 1. What's something you wish you knew when you joined the league? 2. Tage Thompson is finally starting to look good! Who's your favorite NHL player, in the context of this season specifically? 3. What's your favorite type of food (Italian, Chinese, etc.)? What specific dish do you love within that type?
  20. More specifically, give us an option to display something like this: That way, people looking at my posts can see that I play for Miami. This could be really helpful for new members, and it gives us all a cool thing to play with. "But Gustav, people will forget to update that!" (Case in point: my player field still says Taro apparently) Yes, that will happen. But I think it will be a cool thing in general, most really active people will change it in the same way they'll change the player field, and we can always yell at the people who don't. Basically, if you're against "team" for that reason, you really can't also be for the already-existing "player".
  21. What's up everyone! This is a two-parter. Part 1: I now know where I'm going to be for grad school! That ended a huge stressful period of time where I was questioning what I was doing, where I would end up, and the like. I had until Friday to decide, and two of the schools I'd applied to waited until Friday (well, one got back to me on Thursday, but same difference really) to tell me whether I'd gotten in. I got into neither, but I'm still very happy with where I'm going to end up. It's a name many in the US will recognize (though for most it's probably just because of football), and I've got the potential to work with some professors who are right on top of their field. I posted in the past about my general concerns relating to moving out, living in a new place, going to a new school, and just being on my own in general. If anyone has any advice for this sort of thing, please feel free to give it to me--I've already decided that I'm going to get myself a gym membership and try to teach myself how to play the keyboard when I'm out there, so I don't end up sitting around with no interests and nothing to do. As far as making friends goes, I hope that will go OK enough. I can't say I'm not at all uneasy about it, but I at least have things I'm looking forward to doing. Part 2: I decided I'd rather stay down in the M this season with Vandelay, because my crusade against the VHLE is still ongoing (if only in my head). I've reached the cap already, and I'm currently the only goaler on the Miami roster. I'd love to see what happens this season--we're not winning any cups, but I like to think we have enough people to have fun, and I'd like to help out the new players wherever and whenever I can so I'm not just eating roster space (don't get me started again on whether or not I think recreates in the M are categorically a bad thing). I'm definitely going to lose for the first time, something I haven't done yet, but that was bound to happen eventually. I think it's going to be interesting, to say the least, to see how the first half of my career goes with so many talented goalers out there who are S80 and younger. The prime of my career is also going to be interesting and I think we'll definitely see a couple seasons where the question of who's best comes down to who's on which team and who gets what sim luck. Finally, I think Taro is more likely than not a Hall-of-Fame player. @Enorama ran the numbers in some fancy spreadsheet I don't fully understand and found that Taro had a slightly lower career impact on the scoreboard than a certain player, but he also won MVP twice while this player never did. The player in question is none other than Groovy Dood, who I believe got in on the first ballot and who was one of the most terrifying players of the late '70s. So while I still won't campaign for myself, it's now my opinion that Taro is a HoF player, and I'm going to be proud of myself for that.
  22. Happy Easter to those who celebrate!
