Of course, you also want to see clear action. That's probably where your perspective as a member of the league is most important. You've seen twice in as many weeks how a media spot criticizing lacking areas of the league fosters discussion and shines a spotlight on issue. Once by yourself and now by Sam. Just putting stuff out there in public is great, it gives topics the attention they deserve if they aren't receiving them already.

A cautious note, you don't have to be a girl to understand that being a dick isn't ok. While I'm sure that you're less than pleased that there isn't someone that identifies as a girl on the staff team, it'd be unfair to say that they don't care about a girl's perspective or experiences and take them seriously.

Blame @Brewins15 and @N0HBDY for this existing. topics (exactly how sam asked them): 1. thoughts on vhlm state and realistic changes that need to be made 2. n0hbdys dumb moments 3. why did you write an article on the wrong person? 4. pancakes or waffles 5. best moment in vhl 6. feelings about the vhl scavenger hunt 7. why halifax is better than mississauga 45 minutes, maybe I'll claim it, maybe won't. 3 weeks anyways.

Good luck next season KC, Tessier is still a very strong player. I'm sure he'll have a bounce back season, and I'll be expecting to see him break out soon enough! Too talented not to

rainbow flavoured unicorns edit: this forum and league sucks

We do have minor tasks here as well, 150 word VHL.com is 2 TPE, and 2 reviews of like 100 words each is 2 TPE. Add in a press conference with another total of about 100 words, another 2 TPE. 6 TPE for like 350 words. So really, it's 850 words for 12 TPE if we're getting that detailed . And I'm being generous with the word counts of reviews and press conferences. This is also a very, very important point. For people like you and me who have jobs in our main leagues, we don't necessarily need to write as much. Half of my cap in the VHL comes from being a GM and updater. I don't have to write those extra 350 words from minor tasks. I also just don't have the time to take up jobs in the SHL. I GM'd the WJC this past season, and I realized it took more time than I had to offer, so I won't be pursuing more jobs in the future. We all have finite time, and our commitments are ultimately to one type of league. For you, your pain point is to do extra writing here in the VHL that seems cumbersome. For me, it's writing one massive article in the SHL every so often to be able to afford my basic training. However, specifically to the pay-to-win point, sure there is a significant benefit to donating. 11 TPE per $10 donation is not insignificant, but I don't think many people do it consistently. The folks who are absolute tryhards (such as myself) donate before we get drafted so that we can maximize our draft position. We're all a bit egotistical in that manner, there's competition to be the best earner in our class. However, as someone who was consistently 100 TPE behind the top two players in my S72 class, that 100 TPE did not stop me from enjoying a career as good as, if not better than, those top two players in my class. I won an MVP award, neither of those two players did. While it seems significant, and seems so from an rainbow flavoured unicorns point, it is absolutely not essential to having a great career.

I am in both the SHL and the VHL, and I can easily say I much prefer writing here in the SHL. I had to write 3k words or so to get $3 million or so in the SHL. Maybe that's not the exact number, but I definitely wrote over 2k words. That $3 million got me three weeks of training at 5 tpe each. Significantly less bang for my sim league buck. In the VHL, I know my 2K words will get me 24 tpe total. It got me 15 in the SHL. As for word vomiting, I definitely word vomited more in the SHL than I do here. Part of it can definitely be attributed to the fact I am much more involved and active here, but even in the SHL, I've resorted to word vomiting season recaps to try and cough up the money for training. At the end of the day, people will find it easier to write in a league they are more involved in. If you just do your tasks for the sake of doing tasks in either league, you will find them more difficult to complete. I word vomit in the SHL, I'm sure an SHLer will word vomit here. Extra edit: In August, I wrote 3.1k words recapping my junior career in the SHL. I was paid out 3.4 million. To me, writing 500 words for 6 tpe is easier than getting 5 tpe for three weeks from that 3.1k word article.

Claim 2/4, Week Ending 11/7

You know who I am 1. I'm generally on Discord, or have quick access to it for this time. I'm in EST so active hours are normal people EST hours I suppose. I check forums quite often as well. 2. I have 2FA and respond to pings relatively quickly. Depends who's pinging me 3. 21 4. I am a GM, but consider myself able to handle conflicts of interest. It is part of the requirement to be an updater as well, to treat all teams and players fairly. Additional things: 1. I'm not very active during this time range at this time, but my schedule is pretty variable based on the day of the week. 2. Yeah, modded various servers in the past. 3. Worked a quasi-HR job in college which also provided sensitivity classes/trainings. 4. Pretty objective in disputes outside when I make it obvious I will abandon rational thought for the sake of (lighthearted) humor. High tolerance to BS and the ability to de-escalate situations well. 5. I think I handle all situations well. I escalate situations to the appropriate personnel when necessary, or when I feel that I could not adequately or impartially handle a situation.

Only roadblock in that department is Free Agency. It opens up just a few days before the season starts, so there is a risk of starting too soon. However, I plan to start all VHFL drafts on the day FA opens, or the night before at least. Definitely don't want to start as late as last offseason!

I apply, I am Saturn as Beav can confirm

Because the first few rounds are generally selected before the season starts. The longer you wait, as people have tried to do for a while (extending pick lengths, holding off as long as possible to select), the more you get to see of how the season shapes up. No one was picking Henry Tucker last season until the season started. Allowing people to intentionally wait for longer into the season to make picks is unfair, and I will definitely not allow for a loophole to exist where people can wait to get a clearer picture over the rest of their group. Yep, would have to be very attentive to time zones for a Discord draft. I'm still not convinced of this idea over adding a 3rd skip before disqualification, or extending pick lengths. Running Discord drafts feel like there could be too many loose ends, and logistical struggles than just having everything done in a single subforum. I'll keep an eye on this thread to see how other folks respond to the ideas as well, and keep thinking about how I'd like to prevent skips without incentivizing taking too long.
-
That's why I added a 6 hour window, to wrap up all pending picks. But that is capped out to 1 pick, or 2 with an appeal. We do need to keep groups moving and allowing a team to stash up 4 picks and make them all in the final 6/12 hour window would be unfair to the rest of the group.
-
Yeah a little burnt out haha, but I will do what I signed up to do . Please no Keillinger, 3 names that are almost the same will surely ruin me. Voting Killinger into HOF would be fine
-
Kellinger is mine I did not write the completely wrong HOF article to lose out on the one I was supposed to do too
-
Right, and I think this is the main issue rather than time zones itself. I would only really have a window from 7 PM - midnight EST to make informed picks on weekdays. I have to monitor groups from my phone when at work. I don't think timezones would be the issue, which makes me circle back to the idea of a live, discord draft that would take like 30 minutes to complete. But that opens the whole different can of worms as to how to schedule those drafts, and how to get a group of 6 together. At the least, I could consider extending the window of time from 12 hours to 16 hours, or leaving it at 12 hours and making it 3 strikes for a DQ instead of 2.
-
Yeah I was thinking about signing up with time zones, but I feel like it makes more sense to have more variability in time zones than to make each group's timezone homogeneous. Like a group of all east coasters will have school/work at the same time, will sleep at the same time. While aussies in a group with a euro lass and a east coaster would all be awake at different time. Someone want to do the research?
