In a way @NickSunderbruch, we did select you . Have fun in Calgary!
  2. I actually did chat with some GM's afterwards and realized that goalies should always go through the E. Therefore they get to start at a higher TPE when they get to the VHL without having to deal with the extra season of regression, especially one you can't fight. Glad you liked the podcast! Best of luck in the draft
  3. Sign up for VHFL here! Closes tomorrow at 9 PM Eastern, so sign up quickly!

  4. VHFL S80 Signup thread. Hello everyone! This is the official signup thread for the S80 VHFL. All you need to do is to post in this thread and you will be signed up. This doesn't require any experience, all it requires is your interest and a bit of your time during the VHFL draft. As usual, the reward is uncapped TPE at the end of the season, the amount varies depending on your standing. If you are interested in managing a group, please mention it on this thread. Managing a group means: -Keeping an updated list of the picks on the first page -Making sure the picks are done in less than 12 hours -Pinging me if there is an issue or if someone got skipped twice. *This is paid 1 uncapped TPE* I will also need volunteers to take fillers roles which means: - Taking the place of a disqualified user as a filler - This is not paid, it will only allow you to compete in an other group just for the fun but it will also help me a lot - If you are selected as a filler for a group, you will be pinged Lastly, please understand that this is starting up later than normal, so it will be a bit expedited, and GM's will be asked to moderate their groups with less flexibility to avoid having drafts go well into the season. This thread will be automatically locked TOMORROW, Monday the 20th at 21:00 EST
  5. I know, I was just predicting a trade
  6. @Zetterberg made this one as well, but I liked the one we ended up using more:
  7. Lots of people that I didn't scout because I have 1 late 2nd!

  11. Hello everyone! As you probably saw earlier in the season, @Domg5 has stepped down from his position as VHFL/VHL Fantasy Zone manager. I'd like to thank him for his time spent on VHFL, as the past few seasons under his care have run very smoothly. While a new manager has not been appointed yet, I do have this past season's results below! If there are any questions, please DM me on Discord (uɐʇɹɐdS#3393) or here on the forums. 16. (thanks @Zetterberg) What is up folks! It's that time of season, and I'm pleased to have been joined by @MattyIce to turn this season's iteration of the mock draft into an ASMR podcast. Without the ASMR portion of course. But we did do a full hour of chatting about recent VHL moves, and team needs for every team with a pick in the first round. Plenty of banter over the course of an hour, and plenty of confusion as well! That's what happens when you don't prepare well in advance, but I think it came out pretty nicely. Below in the spoilers will be the results of our mock draft, since we understand not everyone has the time or patience to listen to an hour long podcast. Please keep in mind that we used the current draft order on the portal, and that neither of us have inside information about any of the picks or moves that we predict may occur. Hope you all enjoy!
  17. Let's dive into this, mainly because I'm curious whether this is true or not. I've long been under the impression that it's easy to skip the E as a recreate, it's the M that's the challenge. I'm going to use Letang as a reference. I created the week before the M draft, and there was no late joiner TPE then. I updated Letang for 77 consecutive weeks from that point, from draft week to the TDL of S79. Starting in an offseason and ending at the TDL sort of balances out, so we're putting about 8.5 weeks per VHL season, which includes offseason. Letang finished with 1,440 TPE, putting him at 160 TPE/season on a 9 season schedule (2 VHLM + 7 VHL), which is also around 18.7 TPE per week. Specifically to the donations part, I Ctrl+F'd "donation 5" and found 3 instances, and I only donated $10 each time so that's 33 tpe total (6 doubles + 5 uncapped). So Letang's total if I take out any "P2W" transactions would be 1,407, which is then 156 TPE/season and 18.27 TPE /week. I'm not really including any of the community donation drives since I think a large amount of the community participates in those anyways, so I don't think that falls under the P2W umbrella. Now, on to what leagues can be skipped. I'm going through this process myself and most of my "skip the M/skip the E" stuff has been just out of curiosity to see what I can skip, not that I hate a league. I just want to play 9 seasons in the VHL, and I have to skip a second season "down" no matter what. I've never played in the E before so I'd rather skip the M and go directly to the E, but that's just my preference. So at recreate time, I got 80 TPE, the max. Now, the day before the cutoff, I am at 189 TPE. That's 109 TPE in 4 weeks. Now, I have donated twice. I've gotten 22 TPE from that, so without it, I'd be at 167 TPE right now. Granted, I still need VHFL to pay out, as well as predictions. So let's say I'd be at 175 TPE. Making it a long-term view, let's say that a recreate who max earns, does decently well in uncapped opportunities for the season, and doesn't donate gets to around 180/190 TPE, since I don't think offseasons are usually as short as this season was. I've already pointed out that I earned 156 TPE/season with Letang, factoring out donations. 190+156 gets you to around 346, and I'd be fairly confident in that max earners ability to get to 350 by the next finance cutoff. --- TLDR: I think it is very possible to skip the E as a max earner without donating. A recreate would end their first offseason around 190 TPE and then would earn around 150-160 TPE over the course of the next season in the M, getting them super close to 350, and easily above 350 if it's at a time of year where there's more community uncapped opportunities. (I'm claiming this as a media spot bc it's over 500 words)
  18. Thanks haha, my bad
  19. Moscow Menace Welcome New Faces to the Organization GM Euron Leonidas' statement on the latest additions to the Moscow roster: The past few days have been a true whirlwind of activity in the VHL. From the beginning of the S79-S80 offseason, to the resignation of a long-time VHL Commissioner, there have been plenty of newsworthy events to cover across the league. Therefore, some major team specific news has not received the recognition and appreciation that they deserve from within our organization. On Tuesday morning, we agreed to terms with the Calgary Wranglers to acquire the impending Free Agent rights to Tyler Walker (@Advantage), a S73 two-way defenseman, for our S80 MOS 3rd round selection. On Wednesday morning, we agreed to terms with the Warsaw Predators to acquire the impending Free Agent rights to Lexi Glass (@AW13), a S74 winger who has spent her entire career on Warsaw and enjoyed immense success, including a Continental Cup victory. As a result, we sent away forward Kevin King and an S80 3rd from London We're pleased to announce that we have agreed to one year deals with both players, for the duration of season 80. Both players provide significant value to our organization, both on and off the ice. Together, they have a total of 13 combined VHL seasons, bringing valuable experience to both our locker room and to our on-ice play. Tyler Walker has been a strong two-way player, amassing 456 points over 504 career games, adding another 1,030 hits and 1,076 blocked shots. Lexi Glass was quietly one of the offensive leaders of the juggernaut Warsaw Predators in the EU, scoring 183 goals in 432 career games with a total of 398 points. Both players will immediately slot into the top units of their respective positions and prepare to lead Moscow to a hopefully deep playoff run this season! Welcome to Moscow!
  20. WOOOOO
  21. Good piece overall but I don't think these side effects are exclusive to the E becoming a thing. E and VHL draft classes are the same, there are already 99's vs 99's and have been for a while, new members get easily disengaged (see Junior Showcase Tournament as a fix) and there will always be mediocre players. If we were only a league for max earners, there'd be like 40-50 of us total.

Cheers on the quick talks @dlamb! @AW13
  23. Is there any chance for a bit more spread between Depreciation and Finance Cut-Offs/Adjustments? Maybe depreciation run on Saturday so that teams can accurately understand and expect brackets for Sunday, which also helps out with FA?
  24. Yep, I had only really focused on skaters, but I do recognize that goalies need more differentiation as well. I haven't explored avenues for that yet, but it will certainly be on the docket. Thanks
