  1. Name: Sam Teibert Age: 19 Handedness: Left Height: 6’2” Weight: 195 Pounds Position: Center VHLM Team: Bern Royals Coming into Season 40, Sam Teibert was relatively unknown commodity. He was picked up off waivers by the Bern Royals, in the hopes that he would supplement their depth scoring as they aimed for a long run in the post-season. Sam took a while to get accustomed to the speed of the VHLM, starting off as a minus -3 in his first two games. However, as he got more comfortable with his surroundings, his play started to pick up and he has improved tremendously since his waiver claim. Strengths: Vision: Sam’s greatest attribute is his vision on the ice. He reads the play extremely well, and always seems to be at the right place at the right time. This allows him to find open teammates and make some terrific passes. His vision also allows him to find the open man on the backcheck in the defensive zone, which is always important for a center. Skating: Skating is another one of Sam Teibert’s strengths. He has a long, powerful stride that makes him tough to catch when he is transitioning to offence. He is also tremendously hard to knock off the puck because he has such a low center of gravity and he stays balanced. Puck Handling: Sam is very skilled at one on one situations in a game. It has been said that he could stick handle in a phone booth, and he uses his lightning quick hands to deke opponents and set-up teammates. Weaknesses: Shooting: Probably Sam Teibert’s main weakness is his shot. It often lets him down when he moves into prime shooting position. His shot is relatively accurate, but it lacks power. It is something he is going to need to work on if he hopes to make it to the VHL. Discipline: Being a very competitive player, Sam often lets his drive to win cloud his judgement, and he can end up taking needless penalties. His competitive edge is what allows him to play well, but he is going to need to learn how to control it and refrain from making undisciplined plays. Trash-Talk: Sam’s trash-talk on the ice leaves a lot to be desired. This is partly because he is very new to the league and hasn’t learned the names of his opponents wives/girlfriends yet, but it might also be because he was raised a polite Canadian and he may need to find his nasty side before he can really get under the skin of the opposing team. Player Comparison: At this point, Teibert has been compared to a poor man’s Jonathan Toews. He is a leader in the dressing room, and wears his heart on his sleeve. He is sound defensively and a good playmaker on offence, but he is not a prolific scorer at this point in his career. 2. Yeah, the fans would probably come up with some nickname for that duo. But man oh man, Miller has been lights out so far.
  3. I really want to see Kassian on that second line. I cringe everytime Hansen tries to dangle defenders. At least Kassian has a good set of hands and can make a pass.
