Brampton, who finished the season strong, still might need a miracle to get by Minot. The Gladiators, lead by Bears prospect Brady Stropko, finished second in the North American conference with 96 points. Brampton, who finished sub .500, finished with 70 points. Offence: Minot gets the nod in offensive talent. Lead by the likes of Brady Stopko, Guy Lukovski, and Shadhu Rathod Jr., Minot's goals for/goals against differential of 69 is well beyond Brampton's goal differential of -6. Brampton, who's top six may be able to match Minot's, fail to match the depth of offensive talent, especially on the blue line, present in Minot. Defence: The key in this series will be the defensive skill and depth of the Minot Gladiators. Minot has the depth to roll out four solid defensive pairings, where as Brampton will have to rely solely on the pairing of Jack Harkness and Spud Murphy. Minot defenceman Teuvo Ruutu and Jakob Ackerman will be relied upon to not only shut down Brampton's offensive talent, but also chip in offensively to further improve Minot's chances in the series. Goaltending: The lone edge in Brampton favour in this series is in net with with Ikier Manushez. Backstopping the Blades with a 28-21 record and goal against average of 4.00, Manushez stats don't jump off the paper, but he has played solid on a team with a very abysmal defence. He will has to continue his strong play in order to pull off the upset. Standing opposite of him is goaltender David Blind. Blind compiled a 30-10 record and 3.90 goal against average with Minot. The Gladiators strong play at defence may have padded Blind's statistics, who looked shaky at points during the season. The problem for Brampton is that Minot's defenceman is still their to protect Blind. Prediction: in 5 .
  4. Thanks for the mention. Believe in the Blades
  5. Season 42 Draftees Breathe New Life Into Blades Blade's forwards A.C. Savage and Travis Willcox celebrate the game winning goal versus the Moscow RedWolves After an exhilarating four to three win against the Moscow Redwolves, which saw Brampton Blades' newcomer A.C. Savage pot a last second game winning goal, Brampton has secured itself a playoff spot in the VHLM's North American conference. After a poor start to the season, which saw the Blades below .500 for much of the season, a hot finish has seen the Blades rally to a 12-2-3 record in its last seventeen games to secure the final playoff spot. A huge factor in the Blade's resurgence has been the stellar play of two recent additions to the team, forwards A.C. Savage and Travis Willcox. Both season forty-two draft prospects have lit a fire under the team as the Blades look for a deep playoff run this season. Brampton Blades newcomer A.C. Savage has been a welcomed addition to the team Season 41: GP: 11 / G: 4 / A: 5 / P: 9 / +/-: +8 With eleven games under his belt with the Blades, center A.C. Savage has shown scouts early on that his elite offensive skill makes him a top prospect for the season forty-two VHL draft. With four goals and five assist in his first eleven games in the VHLM, Savage has taken little time to adjust to the style of play in the VHLM, which has resulted in second line minutes being given to him by General Manager Terence Fong. " A.C. Savage is a special talent that we were not going to let pass by us on the waiver wire. Early on he has shown a knack for scoring timely goals for the team, as shown by his game winner last night against the RedWolves. He in an elite offensive talent that can not only lead us deep this season, but also next season when he will have a year of experience under his belt. " - Brampton Blades General Manager Terence Fong With a work ethic that few players his age can match, the future is bright for the Blade's center. A strong showing in the playoffs will only create more hype for Savage, as he enters his draft season with the Blades. Brampton Blades winger Travis Willcox is determined to be a top prospect in the S42 Draft Season 41: GP: 17 / G: 4 / A: 10 / P:14 / +/-: +6 After seventeen games with the Blades, Welsh winger Travis Willcox has shown that his two-way style of play has made it an easy transition to the VHLM from the Elite Ice Hockey League in the United Kingdom. Not known for his goal scoring ability when he entered the league, Willcox has notched four goals and added ten assists so far this season, showing that his defensive game is not all that has scouts excited for this season forty-two VHL draft prospect. " Willcox has fit in great with the squad in his short time here. On the ice he has shown a great two-way game, taking up a lot of our defensive responsibilities in order to shore up more offensive minutes for our top six. It doesn't hurt that he also has been able to put the puck in the back of the net for us, a key reason for our success. Also, off the ice he has shown early on he can be a team leader; he makes it a habit to spend a lot of time with the guys on the team, creating a good culture in the locker room. " - Brampton Blades General Manager Terence Fong With another year of eligibility in the VHLM before he enters the season forty-two VHL draft with A.C. Savage, Willcox has time to grow his overall game and become an elite power-forward in the league. Time will only tell where Willcox and Savage will end up going in the draft With only a handful of games left before the Blades begin their quest for their first ever VHLM championship, both Willcox and Savage will be heavily relied upon to lead the drive for the title. With very little experience between them both, this will be their first test to show the league what both can do when everything is on the line. At the very least, the playoffs will provide a great learning experience for both rookies as they will be back the following season to hopefully begin a quest for a second championship.
  6. That is what I was thinking. Seems a bit messed.
  7. i have no idea how i got the word NHL in the title, if a mod can edit that out it would be much appreciated.
  8. Name: Travis Willcox Position: Right Wing Handedness: Left Birthplace: Cardiff, Wales Height: 6'4" Weight: 249 lbs Age: 18 Player Comparison: Milan Lucic Season Stats: Cardiff Devils: GP: 27 / G: 5 / A: 10 / P: 15 / +/-:+2 Brampton Blades: GP:15 / G:2 / A:9 / P:11 / +/-:+4 Prior to the start of the S40 VHLM season, there were rumblings out of Willcox's native country of Wales that their young phenom was going to follow in his father's footsteps and begin his journey to becoming a VHL player. Willcox, who's father backstopped for both the Toronto Legion and New York Americans, had aspirations of taking his talents international in order to prepare himself for the S42 VHL entry draft. Starting the season with his hometown Cardiff Devils of the Elite Ice Hockey League, Willcox's tenure with the team came to an abrupt end when he made himself eligible for the VHLM waiver wire. Brampton Blades general manager Terence Fong was made aware of Willcox's talents through his European based scouting staff and claimed him at first chance. In his 15 game tenure with the Blades, Willcox has shown that with his size and strength, he has the potential to become a premier power-forward in the VHL. Willcox during his stint with the Cardiff Devils Strengths Size and Strength: Standing at 6'4" and weighing in at 249lbs, it is no secret that Willcox posses the size and strength needed to become a dominant power-forward. In the Elite Ice Hockey League, Willcox was able to dominate grown men along the boards, making him one of the most feared players to do battle with in the corners. With his strong board play, Willcox is great at keeping the puck low in the offensive zone, which leads to good scoring chances for his team. During the off-season, Willcox works with NHL strength and conditioning coach Roger Takahashi in order to further his physical attributes, mainly focusing on his lower body strength. Play In Front of the Net: Willcox has made a home for himself in front of the opposing team's goaltender. With his size and strength, Willcox is able to out muscle opposition defenceman in front of the net. He is able to generate plentiful amounts of rebounds leading to scoring chances due to his ability to screen opposing goaltenders. Not noted for being a goal scorer himself, Willcox can in fact put home the odd rebound for his team, making him a dangerous player to have lingering around the net. Leadership: In what is becoming a crucial element in selecting young players in the draft, Willcox has the leadership abilities necessary in order to become a future captain of a VHL team. On the ice he exhibits his leadership abilities by giving his all on every shift, which rubs off on his teammates. When push comes to shove, Willcox is the one to sacrifice all he has in order to get the win. Also, Willcox is not afraid to stand up for his teammates, as he will drop the gloves when the opportunity sees fit. Off the ice, Willcox makes it a habit of spending time with his teammates, creating a stronger bond amongst the team. Willcox celebrating a win against the Outlaws Weaknesses Shooting: Willcox can chip in the odd goal around the net, but his shot is not a strong point in his game. Outside of the crease, Willcox struggles to chip one past the keeper with a wrist or slap shot. His wrist shot generally is low velocity and usually ends up hitting the goalie right in the crest when the shot is on net. His slap shot generally stays low to the ice, but doesn't pick up much speed. His slap shot was registered at 73 MPH during the Blade's super skills contest, leaving much to be desired. As Willcox develops his game with VHL and VHLM coaches, look for an improved shot in the future. Puck Handling: While Willcox can carry the puck down low in the offensive zone, his puck handling in open ice leaves much room for improvement. At centre ice, Willcox is good for one or two sloppy turnovers per game, something that puts him in the coach's doghouse every so often. Willcox has to rely on the dump and chase method in order to enter the offensive zone, which doesn't always work when dealing with speedy defenceman or goalies that are highly skilled puck handlers. If the VHL doesn't pan out, modeling is always an option Overall With another year in the VHLM on the horizon, Willcox has plenty of time to improve his game before making the jump into the VHL. Another year in the minors will provide him the opportunity to improve his offensive ability and puck handling skills. His dominant board play and physical net front presence makes him a viable option as a lottery pick in the S42 VHL entry daft.

  12. Willcox prior to the start of the Blades vs. the Outlaws In what turned out to be a sub par set of games for the Brampton Blades over the weekend, the play of newcomer Travis Willcox turned out to be one of the lone bright spots for the team. In the Blades lone win against the Outlaws, Willcox netted two assists, one of which was on the game winning goal. In three games played, the two points against the Outlaws were the only points he tallied, but his strong defensive play was also a factor. " I'm happy with my play in my first three game set with the Blades. Coach awarded me with good minutes, and it is my job to justify my playing time. It is a much faster, more physical game here in the VHLM compared to the Elite Hockey League in the United Kingdom, and I will have to show up night in and night out in order to advance my role on the team. "
  13. I don't understand the hate for Kassian. He isn't a very dirty player by any means. As a fellow Canuck fan I can understand that you'd be upset that he hasn't and most likely won't progress into a top six power forward, but I think he can be an ideal third liner who is chippy and can net 15 or so goals. I get frustrated with him only when I see him lag behind on plays, showcasing some effort concerns.
  14. A lot better than the one I made first in my sig, any tips?
  15. Willcox talks to the media after his first practice with the Brampton Blades BRAMPTON - Brampton Blades general manager Terence Fong announced the acquisition of Welsh power forward Travis Willcox late Thursday evening. Willcox, a young standout formerly of the Cardiff Devils of the Elite Ice Hockey League in the United Kingdom, joined the Blades for his first practice Friday morning. A prospect for the season 42 VHL draft, Willcox decided to enter the VHLM for the remainder of the season instead of waiting until the off-season in order to adapt his game to the style of play that presents itself in the VHLM. "Our organization is excited about the acquisition of Willcox. We believe that Willcox can help us on our push towards a playoff spot this season, as well as be a key contributer for our season 41 team. He brings a rough and rugged style of play and I enjoy the fact that he battles hard around the boards and in front of the net." "I was thrilled when I was notified by my agent that I was claimed by Brampton. I believe my physical style of play will suit well with the style of play here in the VHLM. I'm joining the Blades during the homestretch, and I plan on giving my all to ensure that the Blades will be in a playoff spot by years end."
