  1. Sandro: - I have nothing against rappers who actually sing about worthwhile content that contributes to society or has positive meaning. The same goes for every genre of music, as well as movies, this isn't just a rap thing, however rap music is the main and most popular source for such content, so it gets to be the beaten dead horse. Don't just waltz into the conversation and act like you are high and mighty and I am an ignorant fuck. They can rhyme about rape, necrophilia and murder all they want, they have the right and it's something as an American that I've defended and will continue to do so, but I won't personally agree with it and I won't support it, because it negatively affects people and is hurting our culture and society, there is nothing positive about Em saying he is going to rape Iggy, and that is tame for him anyway, and if you can't see that than you are the immature child. Tyler: - Classic, pulling the race card as soon as your losing an argument, unfortunately for you I don't give two shits about what race you belong too, we are accountable for our own actions, your skin color doesn't give you a free pass. I am not racist, I have nothing against black people, or any minority for that matter. The fact that most of the rap/hip-hop music in discussion today is sung by minorities speaks to a cultural problem, it isn't me being racist.
  2. Lol how am I racist? because I don't like rap? So basically, what's happening here, is because I don't think rhyming about sexual abuse, murder, rape, domestic violence, etc, is art, or agree with you, I am in the wrong? So because my opinion isn't the popular one, that automatically makes me incorrect? You are welcome to think rap and the shit they sing about is art, but I, however, do not. Also, as far as Cosby, I hope justice is served and they find out the truth. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if he was guilty, or if their all a bunch of liars, people are capable of terrible things.Nothing surprises me in this world anymore.
  3. So his ability to string together verses with incredible skill somehow gives him a pass to say whatever he wants?
  4. It still can't be proven without a shadow of a doubt.
  5. He's been accused, and he will never be charged because no one has any proof and even some of the stories don't add up with what their saying now (See Janice Dickinson, who was telling a different story in her book back in 01 I believe). If he's guilty, than its a true shame, but if he isn't, than I hope the accusers burn for trying to destroy him. It's pathetic, and an obvious ploy to ruin him, why wait SO long? and why are they ALL coming out right NOW? Fishy. Also ,saying that rap shouldn't be censored because it's an "art form" is complete bullshit. So if I consider something to be art, not matter what it is, it can't be censored? That's insane. Rap , satire, art, lyrics, whatever you want to call it, the shit that rappers sing about today is not art, it is not good music and is part of society's problem today.
  6. There is no question that the music people listen to will have some impact/influence on thier on life, there is no getting around that, no arguing against it, especially for younger kids/teenagers. They see their idol singing about this shit like it's just normal, every day action and it plants that seed into their head. This isn't even the worst shit Eminem has sung about, pretty sure he's gone farther.
  7. Also, Stockholm Voyagers would of been sweet. Could even keep the same logo/theme.
  8. Some movies I've watched recently. Transformers Age Of Extinction: 8/10 - Best one to date. Mark Wahlberg makes a huge difference in this one, for me anyways. Lucy: 3/10 - Johanssen is good, but the movie is not. Very underwhelming and just meh. Locke: 0/10 - Thought it would be worth checking out because of Tom Hardy. Deeply disappointed...the whole movie is him in the car making phone calls. Warrior: 10/10 Amazing movie featuring Tom Hardy, one of his best. Movie is enthralling and keeps you watching from start to finish. If you enjoy watching UFC, fighting, etc, you'll want to see this one. 22 Jump Street: 6/10 - It's hilarious, but its also more of the same, so dont expect anything new. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: 7/10 - Maybe I'm just a sucker for Michael Bay movies, but I enjoyed this. I also never watched the original shows, or read the comics, and apparently that makes all the difference.
  9. In comparison, Vikings really isn't that bad of a name. It's generic, certainly, but it fits Stockholm, and its important to choose a name that meshes with the city, country, history, etc. So, it has a generic feel, but way better than Meute, which is probably one of the worst names I've ever heard. So it's not as if "Vikings" is coming in as the worst name or logo in the league.
  10. Into The Wild Recently acquired forward Max MacInnis will be thrust into the midst of the VHLM playoffs. Max MacInnis’ name is only a week old in the VHLM, and he has yet to play a single game, but the spotlight is nonetheless swaying over him as he prepares to get his first taste of the VHLM…In the form of the playoffs. The ruthless American winger was quickly picked up off of waivers, despite his lack of experience, by the #1 seeded Saskatoon Wild, who are currently waiting for the first round of the playoffs to finish before they meet their first opponent. In the meantime, they are getting MacInnis spun up and hoping he can live up to his reputation. MacInnis will most likely see limited minutes, used to provide rest for the team’s workhorses, but based off of what we know about Max so far, he will attack his role with a vengeance and seek to earn more playing time. It won’t be easy, he has two major things going against him: He’s a new guy on a team that has already meshed together in-route to a 57-10-5 record, and he’s a rookie. So Max has his work cut out for him to become “one of the guys”. Everyone has heard of the stories and legends of hazing, and while there has been no official reports of Saskatoon that such behavior exists, we would have to be incredibly ignorant to believe “new guys” get treated the same, it’s just not how the world of professional sports works. The only caveat to that would be since it’s the playoffs, they are focusing more on winning a championship. We were unable to get a hold of Max during the last three days, as he refused to answer any questions while he focused on getting sped up on the Wild’s tactics and techniques, but after today’s practice we caught him leaving the arena and asked him how things were going in the dawn of his era in the VHLM and Saskatoon. ”It’s going well, the guys here are great and have really been pro-active in teaching me their plays and how things work in Saskatoon. I know I won’t get much ice-time, this team has been through thick and thin together and they don’t even know me, but I know that if given the chance, I won’t disappoint; I have the skill and talent to make a difference…and I’ve already got a playoff beard.” MacInnis is joining a squad which has three players that eclipsed the 100 point mark this season, namely Jarome Iginla who poured in 120. So it won’t be as if he’s coming in and expected to produce, he’ll be, as I mentioned earlier, mostly used to eat up minutes for players like Iginla to take a breather. But if the opportunity does arise to snap a shot on net, MacInnis says he will be ready: ”I’ve been putting a lot of work into my shooting, so that if they do call upon me, or someone goes down, or I get a chance to unload a shot, I can put it in the net and do my part. Bottom line is I’m going to do everything I can help to these guys win the championship.” A major question for any player stepping up to a new level of hockey is whether he is conditioned for the increase in speed and strength that he will face, and coming into the league for the playoffs? Well, that holds extra true. “Mad Max” seemed pretty confident he was ready: ”Conditioning wise I feel great, the OHL wasn’t a kids game and while these guys are definitely a step above, I don’t think I am behind them when it comes to my endurance. I understand the questions and concerns, but I’ll be just fine, I’m winner, and winners find ways to achieve their goals.” He left after that, stating he had to “go drink a protein shake”. The potential is high for MacInnis, and when he steps on the ice, even if it’s in a limited role, people will be watching. This will be a great opportunity for MacInnis to get a head start on the upcoming VHLM draft, giving scouts a taste of what he can do at this level, and knowing him, I doubt he will waste it. 11. Meh it's not that bad, thanks kit
  12. Looking forward to seeing Tom Hardy take on the role.
  13. Max MacInnis Rookie Profile Name: Max MacInnis Age: 20 Position: Right Wing Height: 73in Weight: 185 Origins: Rochester, NY, United States of America Advantages: | Precision | MacInnis is a very precise player, his skills are refined, polished and everything he does seems to be something he’s rehearsed ten thousand times. His skating is fluid, his shooting has pinpoint accuracy and his passing is like a laser-guided rocket. MacInnis rarely will make a foolish decision, his discipline keeps him from making rash choices. Everything he does seems to have a reason behind it, and he’s teammates benefit from it. His precise, calculated choices elevate him above other players. | Speed | When we say MacInnis is fast, we mean it. His ability to explode past defenders was a major reason for his breakout season in Kitchener; opponents couldn’t keep up, and it was like Christmas morning for his teammates. He poses a major threat to defenses and forces them to stay on their toes any time he is on the ice, which opens up opportunities for other players. Like a great base stealer in baseball, he keeps everyone honest defensively, you can cheat with his ability to get past you in an instant. | Puck Handling | MacInnis possess the rare ability to manipulate the puck any which way he wants. Combined with his speed and precision, this makes him a very hard player to defend. He can deke and dangle his way past the best of them, and do it while keeping his head up and looking down the ice for his teammates. He has had a flair for the dramatic on a couple occasions, but usually it’s either execute the highlight reel handling or turn the puck over, and MacInnis is the kind of player who goes down fighting, you will never see him abandon the puck, or play. While puck handling isn’t his strongest suit, and like every facet of the game, it needs some work, he causes a lot of mismatches. Disadvantages: | Individualistic Tendencies | MacInnis hasn’t been regarded as the most team-centric player. While he has been deemed as a strong leader, due to his hard work ethic and undying will to succeed, it’s pretty easy to see he puts his own success above those around him, which is backed up by his overly competitive nature in just about every facet of life itself. While he wants to win, he wants to be the main reason the team wins, he wants to be in the spotlight. This has the potential to cause rifts amongst his teammates, or it could bind them together because of how hard he works to win. | Physicality | ”Mad Max” is not a two-way forward. Despite his solid frame and muscular body, MacInnis isn’t a physical player. Sure, he is hard to knock off the puck and won’t back down, but he isn’t going to sacrifice his body or risk an injury over something he doesn’t think is worthwhile. Coaches in the future will want to work with him and teach him how to implement more hitting and using his strength to become a more well-rounded forward. MacInnis has a tendency to be hard-headed, though, so don’t expect it to be an easy course of action to change his ways. | Face Offs | MacInnis does not take face offs, end of discussion. In 68 games with Kitchener, I never once saw him skate into the circle, and no one ever told him to do so, it was like an unspoken rule that he didn’t take face offs. While he isn’t a center, it’s another area that would improve his game and make him more well-rounded, instead of being a “one-trick pony” as many scouts have labeled him. Knowing MacInnis’ drive to be the best, we can only assume he will eventually wade into the circle, but for now, he has shown no inkling of desire to venture into the circle, which just adds to his future coaches need to teach him that he needs to put the team first. Summary: Max MacInnis is an offensive powerhouse. He will immediately improve your ability to score and score fast. He is fast, precise and knows how to win. He is the kind of player that you can build your offense around and feel comfortable with your decision to do so. He works harder than anyone around and takes losing extremely personal. He won’t contribute much defensively, and will be hunting awards, but in the end, he will put up huge numbers and help any team on their quest for a championship. Words: 758
  14. MAD MAX: Behind The Name The VHL has long been known for their superstar players, the kind that captivate the masses and have drawn NHL fans into their grasp; these kinds of players are rare, because not everyone has the personality or desire for the attention…Or the drive to work hard enough to get there. Talent alone won’t get you to this kind of level. It’s always hard to truly predict how a prospect will fair, because there are so many variables you can’t account for, such as injuries, off-the-ice decisions and whether they truly have what it takes to achieve greatness. Many players come and go, some projected as top players, others not so much, but their stories seem to be the same in the end: They weren’t cut out for the show. Enter 20-year old American winger Max MacInnis, or as his teammates have dubbed him “Mad Max”. Like so many before him, he comes in with a load of hype and excitement. So I’m sure you are asking yourself, “What makes him different?”, well the answer to that lies within his nickname. MacInnis was selected #1 overall in the Ontario Hockey League draft by the Kitchener Rangers, and quickly made a name for himself with his aggressiveness and competitive nature in route to 150 points in 68 games. The idea that “Americans are only happy with first place” is not just an idea, it is the truth for the vast majority. For Americans, anything short of winning, whether it’s on the world stage or local, is unacceptable, it’s drilled into them from a young age. You’ve watched the Olympics, and if you are an American, you’ve felt the deep disappointment in not finishing first, it hurts deep down inside of you, because we all believe we are the best, at everything…even when we lose. Max MacInnis embodies this philosophy, this mindset, and it drives him to succeed. MacInnis is the kind of individual who wants to win at everything. As one of his ex-teammates from Kitchener put it, ”He’s crazy. We could be taking a s**t and he’ll make it a competition, if it’s something he’s confident he can beat you at it, he’ll call you out. He lives to be #1, he’s like a lion establishing his dominance over a territory…It’s great on the ice, because when I say he gives 110%, he really does…but dear lord, it gets aggravating off it, literally everything is a competition to him.” When it comes to his nickname, the teammate went on to explain how it came about ”Well, aside from what I just mentioned, he’s like an unending ball of energy, he attacks everything with this animal like aggressiveness. He ran the workout program at Kitchener, because when he showed up, he was so far ahead of everyone else physically that the trainers wanted to know how he trained. We all hated him as soon as they implanted his plan, so brutal…So we started calling him “Mad Max” due to his aggressiveness and hardcore approach to everything.” MacInnis swept the awards, including the OHL’s MVP trophy. As stated before, MacInnis totaled 150 points in his 68 games during his sole season with Kitchener, 82 goals and 68 assists respectively. While he is more of an offensive player, “Mad Max” doesn’t shy from confrontation, his competitive nature has gotten the best of him on several occasions, leading to a few fights that probably would have been considered unnecessary. But he holds his own, his 6-3, 185lb frame is rock solid and MacInnis is very difficult to knock off the puck. His offensive prowess was key in leading Kitchener to a championship, helping them go from worst to first in one season. MacInnis is the kind person who pushes those around him to reach their goals and turn potential into reality, it’s a trait that doesn’t go unnoticed and is rare to find. How Max MacInnis will fair amongst the VHL’s elite is far from determined, and before he ever gets the opportunity he will have to work his way up through the VHLM, which has been proven to weed out those not cut out for the VHL. One thing is certain, MacInnis will be captivating, whether in success or failure, and is a player you will want to watch as he rises up the ranks. When we asked him what his goals were going into the VHL, he said the following, which is what we will end this piece on: "To be the best. Any goal short of becoming the greatest is just cheating yourself out of becoming everything you can be...being satisfied is a career killer. I'm gonna focus on making my mark in the VHLM and proving to everyone I'm here to stay." Word Count: 797
