  1. Back home for the off-season, ESPN radio recently caught up with Fred Hampton. Here’s some of his comments regarding the off-season and his previous season for Prague. “I’m still a little shocked to be honest. Shocked in a good way of course. Being a champion is always an amazing thing. It’s always something that takes a lot of work and it’s something that our entire team set out to do during last seasons training camp. We knew we had a good team; we knew we had a shot. We just needed to put in that effort and make it happen. And we did that. As we prepared for the finals, we knew we saw a great opponent in front of us. We knew it would be tough. But ultimately we simply saw them as standing in our way. Fast forward and we did what we needed to do and we danced on that ice. I’d of course want to give a shout out to my teammates and the coaching staff for making this happen. It’s a we over me thing always and we did that! I’m looking forward to being back and making a run for a back to back championship. Let’s get it.”
  2. ESPN Chicago recently caught up with Prague's forward, and Chicago's own, Fred Hampton at a quick off-season charity event in his local neighborhood. Here's what he had to say about this last season and the upcoming one: "Last season we were solid. Really good. Although we had a little slide towards the end, I think we were all generally satisfied with the direction of the team. Individually, I was able to put together my best professional season so far. I scored a career high 40 goals and always was able to chip in with a career high of 58 assists. I would've loved to hit 100 points total, but I ultimately feel a little short. My plus-minus was up as well, so obviously trying to d whatever I can to help the team. Hopefully we can build on last season and be even better in this upcoming season." On the day's event: "Right now just trying to gather as many coats and socks as we can for the upcoming winter in Chicago. It's better to get ahead of those needs now than to wait for the actual winter to hit. So many people and kids in Chicago need coats and sock every year, so just trying to give back when I can. Every little bit helps."
  3. ESPN Radio San Francisco recently caught up with Prague's forward Fred Hampton to get some commentary and thoughts from in on the team's current season. Here's what he had to say about his start and the future: "It's been good so far! I really can't complain. I'm on pace to set career highs in a lot of areas so that's a credit to the team and the coaches in terms of putting me in position to do those positive things. Currently I have 14 goals, 15 assists for a total of 29 points. This is only through 22 games mind you. I'm only 12 goals off and 10 assists off from making new career highs. I also have a positive plus-minus -- which is fine, but I'd love that to be a little higher. Personal stats are great and all, and it's part of the game but it's not the main reason I play. I want to continue to make sure that the team is playing winning hockey and that's a team effort. If I need to score -- cool, then I will. If I need to be a player maker -- that's fine too. And hell, if I'm stinking up the joint and need to sit by the coach for a moment I can do that as well. I just want to win."
  4. Fred Hampton on off-season plans: “My main goal is just to continue to improve. I realize I’m in a position that my agency has not had to navigate before — that is, actually representing a talented and capable player. Ultimately I want to try and become the best player that I can become, someone who can not only score himself but also get his teammates involved. And not only is this improvement a benefit for myself, it’s always a benefit for the entire Prague organization. We’re only going to be as strong as our weakest link and it’s up to every single player to try and raise their game. That’s my goal. To train this off season to continue to raise my floor. I got a lot more shots on goal this season but my conversion rate was not where I wanted it to be. That’s something that I really want to work on. I believe the coaching staff will continue to get the best out of me and my teammates moving ahead and I’m looking forward to seeing that development.”
  5. TownBizness sports agency recently released this statement about their Prague forward Fred Hampton and his team’s start to the season: “We’re happy so far. The team is currently sitting at 5 overall in the league with a record of 18 wins and 9 losses. There were a number of games that could’ve ended up with us winning so there’s room to be optimistic. The team appears to be in good shape and we’re happy with its direction. As a player, we’ve been pleased to see a lot of growth in his gameplay and results. Hampton currently has 11 goals and 12 assists with 23 points. Last season he ended up with 19 and 22 so he’s on pace to set a career high. Additionally he’s just getting more shots on goal so that’s been entertaining to see as well. All in all things are looking good moving forward as Hampton continues to grown and develop. Hopefully these trends continue.”
  6. Fred Hampton has been putting together a highlight reel of clips over the course of this past season. Whether it is flashy assists, bone breaking checks or logic defying goals, there's been a multitude of jaw dropping moments for the young player. The problem is that he's only been able to see limited time on the ice this season. If you ask him is that a problem, the young player will say absolutely not. We recently caught up with him and asked him about his confidence and his desires for more playing time. Here's what he had to say: "Do I want to play more? Absolutely. I mean, every player should want to compete and play more. That's what competition is all about. Do I believe that I can positively impact my team on the ice? Of course. But I also know that I need to be patient and wait my turn. I just need to keep on working and my time will come. And when that time comes, I will be ready."
  7. Fred Hampton on player's success: Success definitely is not always linear. In fact, it probably never is. That's a myth. I know I have the path ahead of me to become a viable player in the VHL -- as a matter of fact, that's definitely something that I aim to achieve. I think right now however, I'm focusing on the small things, and just being willing to go with the flow in order to help my team the best that I can. Some games that might be on the ice, whether it's passing to a teammate or trying to score a goal myself but other games, I'm simply there to cheer and support the better players on my team. One day I know I'll get there. But it's not there yet. On his future: Again, this is a slow build type situation. I'm not looking to be greedy or to try and get to the best situation possible right now. I do value loyalty, especially from a front office and coaching staff that appreciate the uniqueness of my situation. I'm pretty amenable for the time being and I Don't think that'll change at all. Treat my right and I'll do the best I can.
  8. Recently VHL.com caught up with Fred Hampton and asked his thoughts on the upcoming season. Here’s what the forward has to say: “I am looking forward to it. I am finally in the big leagues. These last few seasons have been amazing and I’ve been fortunate enough to achieve both individual and team success. It’s bittersweet in that sense. On one hand to leave a place where you finally felt comfortable with, a place where you shining and succeeding, a place where you felt supported is always a hard thing. My agent has said that this is the first time he’s felt that support in the VHL. However, on the other hand, I’m excited to a new opportunity and a new challenge. I’ve been able to get in contact with my General Manager and we’ve been able to get a plan of an attack heading forward. Now am I expecting to have the same impact on the ice that I had before? Absolutely not. That would be foolish. I’m still far less skilled than a lot of these guys. Regardless, I’m finally at a place where I can go hard in my training and develop quickly. I’m just hoping to be a contributor on a winning team. Let’s go!”
  9. Fred Hampton recently released this statement: "First of all I want to thank God for this opportunity to be a professional hockey player. It's something that I wasn't sure if I would be any good at but I've found some success. Additionally, moving forward, I want to thank my player agency and general manager TownBizness for their continued support and guidance. I know he's better acclimated for the basketball world but he's been making some inroads here in the VHL world. It's not easy to break into the professional hockey world. There's some incredible talent around the league from legendary players and other legendary agencies. In many ways, I've been a fish out of water. As has he. Regardless, I wouldn't be where I am today without their help. However, I do feel like I'm not able to train and develop at the pace I want to. Well rather, I've realized that without an uptick in my training regiment, my cap as a player will always be limited. All in all, I'm hungry to improve my game and make a name for myself in the league. I know that I'm still a young player and that it takes time to develop the skills and experience necessary to succeed in this sport but that moment is coming where I either stay a roleplayer or potentially make a bigger move to something else. I firmly believe that with the right training and support, I could be a real asset to any team. I'm going to keep pushing myself to work harder, to train smarter, and to learn everything I can about this sport. I want to be better. The good news is that I will be better moving forward. With additional resources and help from my agency TownBizness, I will be able to progress at a faster rate. I will be able to earn more development hours and practice harder to boost my skills. VHL here I come -- let's see what we can do!
  10. VHL.com recently caught up with forward Fred Hampton. After a slight delay in his training during the off season, here’s what he had to say about the current season at hand: “I approach every season in the VHL with the same mindset, to give it my all and leave everything on the ice. As seen with the success from last year, I trust in my coach and my team, and know that if I continue to work hard and improve every day, I will be in a good position to succeed; both as a team and individually. I keep telling myself to focus on the process, trust in my training and preparation, and let the results take care of themselves. I also believe in the power of teamwork and know that collectively, we are stronger than any individual. So, I will do my part, trust in my teammates to do theirs, and together, as a team, we will strive to match or surpass last year's award-winning season. By putting in the work and trusting in each other, the sky's the limit for what we can accomplish."

  12. On the previous season: I was really surprised to hear about the results of this last year with my time in Cologne. Leading the league in scoring was something that never crossed my mind. When the GM told me about this, I almost could not believe it. Again, I'm very much a lunch pail type player. I show up. Work to the best of my abilities and leave everything else to other people. I want to be a small cog in the machine of a great team and I do not need the individual shine in order to do that. I'm truly appreciative of being able to work with this organization and the faith in the organization towards me has been fantastic as well. On his holidays: It was great to take my mind off the ice for a little bit and spend some time with my family. Getting away from the grind of the season and being able to spend time with my wife and kids for Christmas and the New Year was great. We don't do much -- try and keep it private and quiet and really just spend time with one another. Hopefully everyone else had a great end to the year as well. On to the next.
  13. Fred Hampton released this monthly statement on the behalf of his agency TownBizness: "This has definitely been a great season so far. Things have been far more pleasant and communicative on the behalf of the team. It's nice to be recognized for even the small things that I've been able to do on the ice. Again, I know it's not all-world, but just to know that I am effectively helping out the team is always a positive thing -- so I'm thankful for that. A recent update I received from Coach shared that I was doing what I was supposed to be doing in terms of both shots and points. If that's what the team needs then I'm more than happy to keep letting that puck fly myself or getting it into the hands of our other capable scorers. Either way, anything that helps the team is fine in my book. Additionally I hope everyone has a great holiday season as Winter is upon us. Cheers to all!" Look out for his next statement during the new year.
  14. Fred Hampton released this statement through his agency: "The grind is officially here and I'm simply doing the best I can given my limitations. Again, I know I'm not a star nor will I ever be. But I can definitely be serviceable and I can help a team and that's what I've been trying to do this year. So far I'm looking at 16 goals and 19 assists for a total of 35 points in my 72 games played. If that's what coach wants me to do, I'll do it. Ultimately I'd like to get my plus/minus back up in the positive range -- so ultimately that's my goal over the remaining games in this season. All in all I'm going to push forward, keep working hard and help get this team in a better situation. I appreciate the coaches for giving me an opportunity on this journey. Onward and upward we go." Here's to finishing up the season strongly.
  15. Fred Hampton checks his iPhone regularly. Between his family, his agency, and his various social media interests notifications are something that are frequent. The one area that is noticeably quiet is that from the team front. In regards to this, here is what the forward/center had to say: "On one hand I totally get it. I'm not an "all in" type person. So I don't necessarily value the traditional locker room experience. However, a little direction from my coach is always a helpful thing to have. In Las Vegas my coach would check in with me regularly in our one-on-ones. Not only would he give me updates on how my player and the team was doing but he also gave me some direction on how to train. I thought this was really helpful and I appreciated it. Is it going out of his way a bit? Probably, but I can't help but think that type of work lends itself to success. Looking forward to more check ins in the future."
