  1. 1. Thunderstruck by AC/DC 2. Nope, I think we can be better, and I think we will be 3. Faceoffs 4. I'd say the Reapers 5. I guess Christmas with the household only 6. I don't eat chicken, so putting it into a sandwich doesn't really appeal to me
  2. Review: You sure make a good case for Michael to become captain, I like it. The push to the VHL isn't an easy one, so if you stay dedicated you can pull it off. My one suggestion is to make it into a couple of paragraphs instead of just a cluster of words, but other than that, good job. 8/10
  3. Review: I love the charity idea, it's great to give back to the community with all the money you're getting. Onde seems like a real humble guy, and the stats will pick up, they always do. Simon has some weird preferences. I like the italics, but maybe do some quotations to show that Onde's talking 9/10
  4. Lenny Sanderson just marked his eighth game of his VHLM career, and it could be said that he's had a pretty good start for someone under 100 TPE. In those eight games, he has three goals, nine shots, and seven hits, showing remarkable maturity for a kid jumping from the USHL to pro. He is currently ranked 25th in the VHL draft rankings according to TPE, and 8th in the VHLM dispersal draft rankings. He is expected to go in the mid second round for the VHL draft, and the late first round for the VHLM. We caught up with Sanderson for a quick interview after his final game. Reporter: Well, you've had a productive stretch recently, Lenny. What's been motivating you? Lenny Sanderson: I think it's just really cool to be in the pros, and Sasky is a great place to be. Lots of great teammates and great management, so I'm having a lot of fun Reporter: You are eligible for two drafts this offseason, which I know is a long time away. How are you preparing? LS: I haven't really given it much thought, since I should be focusing on the season right now. But I know scouts are always watching, so I just give it my all out there Reporter: Who would you compare your game to in the NHL? LS: I love how Brendan Gallagher on the Habs plays, just relentless and never gives an inch. I try to model my game after his. Reporter: Thanks for doing this, Lenny. LS: No problemo 257 words
  5. 1. Yeah, I think once our waiver guys get better, we will too 2. Well, it gives a shot to another waiver guy. 3. Ferk. He tells me what I did wrong, and I do it better next time 4. It's cool, but it would be cooler if they had names 5. Hamilton Bulldogs, hometown team 6. Hanging out with family, training, xbox

  9. Mere hours after Lenny Sanderson, the very first Antarctic hockey player, signed with the Saskatoon Wild of the VHLM, a detailed scouting report of his pros and cons was discovered. Written by this random and somewhat disturbingly devoted fanboy of Sanderson, a fellow who goes by Gally, it actually shows surprising detail and research. Here it is: ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Lenny Sanderson Scouting Report Position: Left wing Birthplace: Antarctica Date of Birth: Is that really necessary? Pros Scoring It appears Sanderson put his abundant free time on Antarctica in, because his shot is a cannon. It's one of the main things he worked on down there, and it showed when he blitzed the USHL last season. Defensive play Can we really call this a pro? In the USHL, all Sanderson needed was goals, so that's really all he did. His coaches were always nagging him about being reliable in the D zone, but usually he just played his game. Since then, after working with some other training coaches, his defensive play has come along, and he is at the very least the VHLM average, which I guess is good enough for his rookie season. Dedication "This kid will stop at nothing to achieve his goals; anyone who gets in his way is in for a not-so-pleasant surprise". That is a quote from one of his assistant coaches in Sioux City, whom I grilled for half an hour after a game. Sanderson has laser focus, and because he got used to having no distractions in Antarctica, he just ignores all of them here. For example, I was standing at the boards for one of his practices, and he was standing in line right in front of me. So I banged on the glass and hollered as loud as I could, but Lenny didn't even give me a glance. Sure, the coach came over and kicked me out of the rink. But it was worth knowing about this kid's dedication. Cons Communication Sanderson was pretty isolated on Antarctica. He didn't have any physical friends, and he didn't really talk to anybody except his family. Because of this, he sometimes has trouble communicating on the ice. When I watch one of his games, his teammates are all yelling and calling for the puck and telling each other what to do, and there's Lenny, who just stays silent and plays his game. It has resulted in a couple embarrassing miscommunications, and his coaches are encouraging him to improve it. Puck handling Some would say that Lenny has hands of stone. I don't say that. I just say that he probably should have worked on his puck handling more during all his training. He can barely stickhandle, and he speeds up the ice with one hand on his stick, without stickhandling. He is often helpless in tight spaces, and it is his primary area of work. Routine This is a weird con to have, but it does definitely apply to Sanderson. He is used to the freezing, boring world of living on Antarctica. Now he is forced to adapt to the warm, sunny Saskatoon winter(lmao). Compared to Antarctica, the weather is very nice, and he is in a massive city with tons and tons of strangers. It will take some getting used to, but I think he will manage. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ In my honest opinion, it is a decent article. I didn't expect as much, as I have had some run-ins with this 'Gally' character, and he is quirky and odd, to put it kindly. But he writes well, and it looks like he chose a promising prospect to follow.

  12. Lenny Sanderson, an Antarctic left wing, has declared himself eligible for the VHLM after finishing his 18 year old season in the USHL with the Sioux City Musketeers. The jump from USHL, basically the American equivalent to the CHL, is a long one. A lot of players have had experience in the NCAA or the CHL itself, but the USHL is a tier down, and Sanderson has to face more obstacles than the average VHLMer. A VHLM reporter caught up with Sanderson hours after he made his decision. Reporter: So, Lenny. We don't exactly see someone from Antarctica every day. What's the main difference in your development from, say, a Canadian kid? Lenny Sanderson: I didn't play organized hockey until I was 10 years old, I was just practicing on the rink beside my house for a while. I wouldn't say I have a disadvantage, though, because I probably spent upwards of three hours a day playing hockey with my dad. Reporter: What are you most excited about in the VHLM? LS: It's obviously going to be fun to play pro hockey, it's every kid's dream. I think playing on this high a level is really cool, and I'm excited to play with guys from around the world Reporter: A little bit of a personal question here: What was it like not seeing any other kids? You were practically isolated your entire childhood LS: Since I never had friends, it's hard to miss them. It's hard to miss something you never had. But still, I didn't have much company, and it was boring at times. My parents did a great job homeschooling me, and I did well in high school in Sioux City, so I think I'm adapting. Reporter: One last question. I heard that you're an environmentalist. Care to explain? LS: Yeah, I sort of am. Growing up in Antarctica, I watched more and more of my country melt into the ocean over the years. The water levels are rising, and the earth is getting hotter. Change is needed, and I plan to spread the knowledge everywhere I go. Reporter: Thanks for your time, Lenny. LS: Thanks. 358 words
  13. Lenny Sanderson will forever be unique in the VHL, and more importantly, in the world. He is one of few people ever to be born in Antarctica, and the only one to have been raised there. Sanderson's parents are Canadian, and they both grew up, met, and married there. But they are extravagant people, and they wanted to experience something no one else has ever experienced before: raising a family on Antarctica. So they did. Lenny's father, Troy Sanderson, had connections with a scientist, and they used a lot of their savings to build a house on Antarctica, within range of a scientist exploration building. This is where they got their food, and they got their water from a well that went deep under the ice into the cold, untouched water below. Now, onto Lenny himself As you have probably gotten by now, Lenny Sanderson had a pretty unique childhood. He grew up being homeschooled and never seeing any other humans except his family and the occasional scientist. As he grew older and was looking for pastimes, he discovered hockey, a game he could play very easily on the frozen wasteland all around his house. With help from his dad, Sanderson built himself a makeshift rink, and they ordered in pucks, nets, and equipment from Argentina, the closest country. With pretty much nothing else to do, Sanderson practiced. Much more than anyone in Canada, or USA, or Russia would. Before and after his schoolwork, with little breaks for meals, Lenny would practice. By age 8, he was better than his dad, who played rec hockey until they moved to Antarctica. When Sanderson was 10 years old, he and his parents made the decision that Lenny needed to move somewhere to continue developing his skills. While his parents stayed in Antarctica, Lenny flew to Iowa, Sioux City to be exact, where he would live with a kind family who generously took him in. He joined the Sioux City Lasers, the best minor hockey team in the city, and he was the best player on the team. With the help of Sanderson and his crazy skills, the Lasers went on to win the Iowa Minor Hockey Championship. He played with the Lasers until he was twelve, when he moved to Chicago to play for the Chicago Mission, one of the finest minor hockey organizations in the country. He played with the Mission until he was 16, when he moved back to Iowa to play for the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL. In his first two years, he put pedestrian point totals, which is still very good for a 16/17 year old. But in his 18 year old season, the season where he would declare himself eligible for the VHLM, Sanderson exploded for 50 goals, 39 assists, and 89 points in 62 games This put him on the radar for the VHLM, and we'll see where he lands in the VHLM very soon. A message from Lenny Sanderson himself: Hi everyone. It's me, Lenny, and I just wanted to say a few things before pro hockey takes over my life. I want to spread the fact that Antarctica is in trouble. It is melting rapidly due to global warming, and human beings are the ones at fault. We need change, and part of the reason I came to North America is to help eliminate global warming. My home is disappearing, and I need all the help I can get to save it and all the animals that rely on it for survival. Thanks for taking the time to read. I'm looking forward to joining the VHLM.
