I'd like to start off this article by quickly shouting out the fans in Istanbul. They have been absolutely awesome throughout the start of the season. Although we don't sit top of the league right now, I am confident we can turn it around. The fans will be a huge part of it. As someone who is close to getting past the TPE area for the VHLE. I am still thinking about how long I really want to stay here. I had a rough season in the VHL with Helsinki last year, but I am off to a good start with 9 points in 6 games, 3 of those games being wins. I think there is two ways to look at this. You can either look at it as a league or just player development. I I love Istanbul, but playing in the VHL is a huge opportunity and once next season comes around, there is no doubt in my mind that I will be off to the VHL once again. As an offensive minded player, playing in the pre draft tournament and putting up the numbers I did made me realize that I can use this as an opportunity to get my game right this season before heading back. But there's also the fact that I absolutely love playing in Istanbul. The fans are great and the city is great but who knows what the VHLE holds in store. In my final VHLM year with Minnesota, I had my best season ever., putting up 83 points in 72 games en route to a Founder's Cup final appearance. Halfway through that season is when I realized that I was ready to move up. I feel like that's a similar situation to what I am in right now. I love where I'm at but I want to be under the brightest lights in the VHL. Don't get me wrong, I will cherish my time in the VHLE no matter how long I stay here. I know that as one of the higher TPE guys on the team, I feel like I am under some pressure to perform well. Have I ever felt this pressure before? No. It's completely new to me. How can I handle it? I don't know. As a fairly new member, how I can handle the pressure that I think I have, that I think will be the biggest challenge for me. I have to do my best to tune out all outside noise and just focus on my game. I know I can score a ton of points and I know I am a really good player. I just can't let myself get overwhelmed. In conclusion, I have some fears going in to this season but I know the fans here in Istanbul have got my back, as well as the guys in the locker room. I will be one and done in the VHLE, so I have to make the one season I have here count. I hope I will. Heavems out.

1) 50 Hours doing something I love, no doubt about it. 2) Malmo 3) Yes. 4) Video games and some hockey. 5) I ain't a huge workout guy, but I enjoy doing some spinning. 6) Fastest skater, the speed and power makes it so intense. 7) I think I have been to around 10-15 NHL games and some OHL games as well,

I was able to speak to Helsinki Titans forward Raihan Heavems yesterday, here are some of the most notable things from the interview. Q: Your VHL rookie season is in the books, you put up 22 points in 72 games on a rebuilding Titans team. Overall how do you feel now that your rookie season is in the books? A: Well you know obviously the results aren't what we wanted, finishing close to bottom of the league but we have a young team, a good group of guys. There will be growing pains but I am confident that this group can contend soon. Q: How did you approach the transition from the VHLM to the VHL? A: The transition was obviously very difficult, going from being over a point per game player to playing in a reduced role in the big league but it took time and I think that I can make plenty of noise next season. This league better watch out. Q: You recently played in the VHLE draft tournament for the Istanbul Red Wolves. What was that like? A: It was awesome getting some more games in. The VHLE is awesome and I think the draft tournament was a great idea. Everyone was awesome in Istanbul and the VHLE is a great idea for the VHL universe. Q: What was morale like in Helsinki despite the team's record not being too great this season? A: Well I don't think that too many of us really expected us to win the Cup and while losing as much as we did obviously sucked, we came into this season knowing that we were a part of a rebuild, I knew I was coming into a rebuild based off of the trade that I was apart of but we know we are gonna grow into a contending team. Thanks for your time Raihan.

Everything here meshes well. No real flaws in this graphic. You've done an excellent job. I like the font that you used for the last name as well as the other 2 fonts. Only thing I can complain about is the size of the first name. I think it could be a little bit bigger. The background blur adds a nice touch and the fact that the last name font has that shadow that makes it look somewhat like an animation is in my opinion the best piece of this graphic. Like I said earlier, everything meshes well. And for that, I have to give this graphic a drumroll please............. 10/10! Congrats dude, you did an excellent job.

So far through my rookie season, my impact hasn't been too large, only putting up 6 points in 26 games as an offensive minded player. Coming off a breakout season in the VHLM with the Minnesota Storm, I knew the transition would be difficult. I figured being with Davos, a team coming out of a rebuild would help my development. But then, I was shocked to find out that I had been traded as part of the deal that sent Patrik Laine to Davos. Considering this is my first player as well as my first time being traded, it was difficult to process at first. I know that I am not going to be a hall of fame player with the rate I am earning. I'm still new to this so it's fine to me. But despite that, I still want to be the best player I can be. It's a difficult adjustment going from a dominant VHLM team to a rebuilding and struggling team in the big show. I think it's good for me to be a part of a growing team. We have a lot of draft picks in this coming draft and I am optimistic about the future of this hockey club. Will I be a part of it? I don't know. I sure as hell hope so though. This is my first player in the VHL and it definitely won't be my last. Coming up and immediately being part of a rebuild is absolutely the best thing that could've happened for my development. It really tests your dedication to improvement and how badly you want to be the best player you can be. I like the group of guys we have on the team. I trust the higher-ups in the organization to make the right acquisitions and I really do think this team can contend during the prime of my career. Being a rookie is tough no matter what. Being a rookie on your first player is a whole nother beast. But I think having three season (two full ones) in the VHLM was good preparation for me. I learnt the basics on earning tpe as well as playing some good hockey for both the Ottawa Lynx and the Minnesota Storm. I loved playing in both those cities and I love playing in Helsinki. Do I wish our on ice results were better? Yes absolutely, nobody wants to be playing for a losing hockey club. But there's nowhere else I'd rather develop.

Minnesota Storm Press Conference Questions

1. It’s just any other game for me. I don’t care who we play I prepare the same way. 2. That’s amazing. This group works well together and as one of the 8, I can say it’s good when everyone is contributing. 3. If he keeps that up, absolutely. 4. Yeah. As a forward it’s great to have a good goaltender backing you up, especially as a forward who considers defense a weak point in my game. 6. It’s really amazing to see and I can’t wait to be up next year. 7. I always love a really nice hamburger. -
After 22 games in his third vhlm season, Raihan Heavems has looked to be a good contributor on a good team. The HC Davos Dynamo prospect is over a point per game average and seems poised to be at least a 35 goal scorer this season. However he is nowhere near the top contributor on a powerhouse Minnesota team. With a graduation to the VHL coming next season, it will take some time for an offensive minded player like him to adjust. He knows he likely won’t end up as an all time legend in the VHL but he recognizes that he has talent and so did davos when they picked him 44th overall in the S77 draft. He went into this Vhlm season feeling like he had something to prove to davos. He needed to prove that he will be a solid player at worst in the VHL. While he has definitely proved that he will be a contributor in the VHL come next season, I still have my doubts about how much he can truly do for a team in the long term. For one, it took him three seasons to develop in the vhlm, so his peak will not last too long, also his defense is not the best. My overall projection for his peak point total in the VHL will be somewhere between 45-50. Not bad you might say, and I would have to agree however I see him becoming a 3rd line winger. So then at this point you may be wondering, why am I writing a full media spot on a future role player? Well for one, he’s my player. Also, he’s got the potential to become one of the most criminally underrated players in the league. I’ll end up looking back on this in a few seasons and wonder if I was right. There’s a chance I’m completely wrong, one way or another. He could completely flop and not have any good production in the VHL or he could become a star. That’s the thing with these mid round picks. If we go back to the top of this article you will notice that I said that his Minnesota storm team was a powerhouse. After a half season with the lynx, he has found the best spot for him to develop in Minnesota. There’s no pressure on him which concerns me as he has limited playoff experience. However if his storm can keep this up, he should have a deep playoff run under his belt before graduating. In conclusion, he’s a boom or bust player. If I’m being honest I’m leaning towards bust however you never know. He will be one to watch that is for sure. With the fact that Davos is an up and coming team, there’s a chance he is put into a larger role which could stunt his development. There’s a certain role that he will fit in. That’s where he will excel. The question is, can Davos find that right role for him? Can anyone find the right role for him? Only time will tell.

1. Amazing. I think this team is going to be a contender if we can keep this up. 2. Yes. We absolutely did. 3. Not too familiar with the person although I trust my gm to make the best hire. 4. It’ll be close, but I have faith in this team. 5. Nashville-Carolina being a good series. I thought Carolina was gonna wipe the floor. 6. I am a huge mlb the show fan and I play the games a lot. -

Ok so I will be honest here, I did not expect that to go the way that it did. Let's recap. Game 1: In front of thousands of excited Hounds fans, it was the Marauders who came out on top, scoring twice in the first and absolutely dominating throughout, outshooting the Hounds 37-21. The best team throughout the entire season was thoroughly outplayed in game 1. But hey, it's only 1 game. Everyone has bad games, this should be a one off. Right, Mississauga? Game 2: In an extremely intense game, it was Miami coming out on top once again, scoring twice in the second and holding on in the third to take a 2-0 series lead. I, along with many others predicted the Hounds to win this series. But at this point, I am starting to believe that Miami can really pull this one off. With the series headed to Miami for games 3 and 4, you have to wonder, can they really get it done? Game 3: Uh oh, Mississauga. You're now down 3-0 and have to try and avoid the sweep on the road in front of an incredibly loud Miami crowd. The game was complete Marauders domination. Outshooting the Hounds 38-24. It was an excellent performance in goal for Luke Spinelli, however it was not enough. Will the Hounds be able to complete a near impossible comeback, or will the Marauders hold on, and sweep the VHLM's top team and complete an unlikely upset. Game 4: It's over! The Miami Marauders ave won the Founder's Cup. Wow. this was a wild game. Mississauga looked to have tied it late, with Gaspar Zakrevsky scoring on the PP, however, Alexander The Great would score a powerplay marker of his own with less than two minutes to play and that would stand as the winner. it will be celebration in Miami. Well that does it for the VHLM playoffs. As someone who had the pleasure of watching and playing in these playoffs, I was thoroughly impressed at the quality of hockey played throughout these playoffs. While my time as a player in these playoffs did not last very long, I was very happy to be able to write about every game that went on throughout these playoffs. There were some very intense games. It was a very fun ride and I look forward to writing about the VHLM playoffs again next time. Anyways that does it for me. Goodbye everyone, and see you next season.

Sorry I am a bit late on this one, I was a little busy but anyways, here is a quick recap of round 2 of the VHLM playoffs. 21ST VS HOUNDS Game 1: Oh baby what a game. High scoring and overtime to open a series! What more can you ask for out of a game 1? Mississauga jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first. But Halifax would not quit. They stormed all the way back and forced overtime. Three unanswered goals were scored by Halifax in the third would force the overtime. But it was all for not. Just over a minute in, Davey Jones Jr. would score the winner and a truly epic game came to an end. Game 2: Wow. Another amazing game decided in overtime. Two spectacular goaltending performances would force yet another overtime. This time, there weren't as many goals scored in this one with both teams combining for just 5 goals on 83 shots. 5 minutes into overtime, Gustislav Nasherov would score the winner to give Mississauga a 2-0 series lead. Another gut-wrenching loss for the 21st. They are now tasked with coming back down 2-0 against the best team in the VHLM. Game 3: A huge win for Halifax. They are back in this series after a 6-4 victory here in game number 3. 3 point games from Germano Henchoz and Kikko Moskinen helped tremendously. There has been an abundance of shots in this game. It has been an offensive battle so far. This is really shaping up to be an epic series. 124 points for the Hounds in the regular season. I know they’re still trailing in the series, but this is a tough Halifax team that nobody should take lightly. Game 4: Halifax refuses to quit. A 4-3 win to even the series. After 2, the score was 4-0 Halifax. But Mississauga came roaring back. You look away and all of a sudden boom! It’s 4-3. But Halifax was able to hang on and level the series at 2 a piece. Game 5: Mississauga responds with a dominant 4-2 victory helped by a pair of goals from Jonny Pacheco to take a 3-2 series lead as it heads back to Halifax for game 6. Can Halifax complete the comeback and the upset? Find out in game 6 of this epic battle. Game 6: The answer to my last question is no. Mississauga wins game 6 and the series with a dominant 6-3 victory. Halifax put up a good fight, but in the end Mississauga prevails and advances to the Founder’s cup final. ACES VS MARAUDERS Game 1: this was an interesting game, we had 6 goals in the first but only one the rest of the way. At 7:47 of the 3rd period, Napoleon Bonaparte would score on the power play, a goal that would stand as the game winner. A disappointed Aces team now has to try and come out strong in game 2 because nobody wants to go down 2-0 in a series. Game 2: The aces would fall flat. Giving up 3 goals in the 3rd and losing 5-1. A 4 point night from Noah Mashford helped the Marauders take a commanding 2-0 series lead. Panic has to be setting in for Las Vegas. They pulled off a shocking upset of Saskatoon in round 1, they are going to need a little more magic to complete the comeback and challenge the Hounds for the Founder’s Cup. The series heads to Vegas with Miami taking both games at home. Game 3: In a must-win game for the Aces, they would come oh so close to winning it, falling in overtime by a score of 3-2. Miami’s overtime hero would be Delving Mackey, who would score on the power play to give his team a commanding 3-0 series lead. With their backs against the wall, can the Aces hold off the Marauders? Or will Miami prove too strong and advance with a sweep? Game 4: In a game where the Aces outshot Miami 36-23, Miami would prevail in overtime, with Alexander The Great scoring the series winner, sending thousands of Vegas fans home unhappy. Again, the overtime winner would be scored on the power play. A pair of overtime penalties cost the Aces the series. You have to wonder: could the Aces have taken both games if it wasn’t for the penalties? We will never know. In my round 1 recap, I predicted Mississauga to go all the way. While I do believe that this is an excellent Miami team, the Hounds have been so dominant throughout the regular season and playoffs, it would be ridiculous for me not to pick them. Hounds in 6.

Well this was an interesting first round here in the VHLM playoffs which featured a single game 7. Let’s take it game by game and see what happened. ACES VS WILD Game 1: They got pucks to the net and were able to limit Saskatoon to just 14 shots. Were able to score 5 and were in control for most of the game. Game 2: Aces fall 6-4 in a high scoring game where both teams took plenty of penalties. Game 3: 2OT thriller again, penalties were plentiful. Vegas outshot sask by 10 and in 2OT outshot them 8-1 and finally broke through. Shaggy Tipton with the ot winner Game 4: Aces win 6-4 helped by a 4 point night from Kjell Nilsson. It comes as a shock that Saskatoon is down 3-1 after a 50 win regular season. Game 5: an excellent season for the wild comes to an end as Vegas played a dominant second period and held strong in the 3rd to complete the upset in 5 games. The 7 seed takes down the 2 seed and will face the winner of San Diego vs Miami. 21ST VS STORM Game 1: One of the most dominant performances for Halifax as they outshot the storm by 30, and won by a score of 5-1. 3 point performances from Balder Pilsen and the great helped Halifax quite a bit. Game 2: A much closer game, Halifax taking it by just one goal however still outshooting Minnesota by 9. That was an issue for Minnesota throughout most of the series. Game 3: Again, Minnesota is outshot by a large amount and Halifax wins by a score of 4-3. Minnesota is down 3-0 in the series and the locker room morale is low. Game 4: Minnesota stays alive, winning it in overtime. They seemed to have fixed the shot problems, outshooting the 21st by 12. Grapes would have 1 goal and 2 assists, however Caleb Gaudette would be the hero, scoring the overtime winner. Game 5: Backed by an outstanding 39 save performance from goaltender dexter Vaughn, Minnesota would stay alive once again however they were still struggling to get shots at the net, being outshot 40-24 in this one. Nils Tallinder would be the overtime hero in this one. Game 6: Minnesota finally falls, getting outshot by 12 and losing by a goal. All 3 goals were scored in the first and Halifax took a lead and never looked back. BULLS VS HOUNDS Game 1: 5-3 score, even game however it was a rough outing for Mississauga goaltender Tobias Reinhart posting a save percentage of just .808. Game 2: Mississauga flat out dominated. They outshot Houston 48-13 and 11 different players getting on the scoresheet. Game 3: Again, Houston was heavily outshot, however they stayed in it but ultimately fell 4-3. The shots were a huge issue for Houston throughout this series and were a huge reason for their elimination. Game 4: An excellent performance once again from the Hounds, winning by 3 and outshooting Houston by 26. Luke Spinelli was a little shaky in goal, allowing 3 goals on 19 shots however the team in front of him helped him out by keeping the puck in the offensive zone. Game 5: Another dominant win from Mississauga to clinch the series. The Bulls were heavily outmatched in this series, getting outshot by a ton once again here in game 5 so the hounds advance. MARLINS VS MARAUDERS Game 1: In what was an all around even game, the marauders would run out of gas at the end, getting outshot 27-11 over the course of the 3rd and overtime. The San Diego Marlins would prevail in overtime, with Lachlan Chisholm getting the winner on the powerplay. Game 2: Miami would bounce back, posting 50 shots in a dominant showing which they won by a score of 5-1. Noah Mashford would put up a hat trick, playing some excellent hockey and thus earning first star of the game. Game 3: Miami would score 4 in the first, however the Marlins threatened in the 3rd pulling back within a single goal. Miami stood tall, hanging on and taking this one by a score of 4-3. Game 4: Backed by a 4 point night from Nicholas Mariani, San Diego would even the series at 2 games a piece taking game 4 by a score of 6-4 in what was a pretty high scoring tilt. Game 5: Miami would respond with a 6-4 victory of their own, taking a 3-2 series lead as we head back to San Diego. Napoleon Bonaparte was feeling it, tallying 4 assists. Declan Wolf and Noah Mashford both had multi-goal games. Game 6: Facing elimination, San Diego was able to force a game 7, winning by a score of 4-2 with Aldwin Craig scoring twice to keep San Diego alive. Game 7: Despite a valiant Marlins effort, the Marauders prevail in the lone game 7 by a score of 4-3. This was by far the most exciting series so far in the VHLM playoffs and I look forward to writing about more exciting playoff series’. Well that does it for round 1. We had a fairly big upset and a game 7. If you ask me who I think is going to win it all, I would say Mississauga. They dominated throughout the regular season and looked very good in round 1. I look forward to seeing how it all plays out.

Minnesota Storm Press Conference Questions

1: This is a good group of players, I think it can happen. 2: Being the top team and getting swept in the first round. 3: Helping complete this reverse sweep. 4: Absolutely, I enjoy it here but I can’t wait for the VHL. 5: This is my first player, so yes. 6: Obviously it’s not ideal, but the guys keep each other going so we just go out there and play. 7: A few years ago when I was playing minor hockey, we took down the top team in the league. I know it’s not much but it’s something I’m still proud of to this day.
