1. How do you think our draft went? We acquired 3 new forwards and have 2 solid forward lines now. As long as they don't cut into my playing time or my ability to contribute to the team then they're cool by me. 2. What are your player goals for this season? Win the whole. fucking. thing. I don't know, get some recognition for being good hopefully? 3. What is your favorite/most enjoyable point task? (Any league) The ones where I just click the buttons and points magically appear : ) 4. What is your least favorite? The ones where I have to think about what i'm writing but these press conferences are great for me! Stream of conscience baby. 5. It looks like we will be starting the season with only 1 defenseman again this season. Do you think we should make a move to acquire one? You could always pivot my player's skill set to contribute more on the defensive end. I'm moldable. Mold me. 6. What do you think is key towards being selected highly in the draft? Earning. Earning. More earning. And communicating so GMs feel comfortable taking a chance on you and vice versa.

1. The draft is coming up this Monday. Do you think this draft will give us the push we need to be a top 4 team? - i'm not sure. Am i still on the team? I have no idea. Don't even know what teams I'm on. 2. We have the third overall pick. What position do you think we should draft? Goalie. Goalie is the most important position in the history of hockey. 3. Are you in any other sim leagues? If yes, which one would you say is your main league? I'm in SBA and in a couple of others like NCBCA and NZCFL. SBA was my primary for a long time. 4. What was your most listened to song in 2022? I haven't checked my spotify but i imagine it was some country song as i love pop country. 5. How has 2023 treated you so far? Eh. Could be better could be worse. 6. I do whatever my GMs tell me to do as long as they tell me directly. To some GMs that could be shitty, to some it could be found gold.

1. Has the offseason felt really long to you, or is it just me? I had no idea it was the offseason so I guess it felt fine? I have no idea how we even did as a team 2. Do you have any idea where your player will be playing next season? Not a clue. If someone wants to message me on discord and let me know, that'd be cool! 3. What have you spent the 20 Christmas TPE on? Don't know if there was a Christmas 20 TPE so no idea. Maybe i did claim it and just haven't done anything. 4. Who do you think wins the Founder's (VHLM) cup? San Diego is currently leading Ottawa 2-0. I think Ottawa is primed for a comeback. I hear everyone in the locker room is hung like Julio Franco. That equals comeback. 5. Did you do anything interesting for New Year's? Had COVID, laid low, girlfriend was feeling ill as well, so had some bourbon watched TV and had good eats. 6. What fast food place makes the best burger, in your opinion? I'm a five guys enjoyer, it is expensive though. Honestly Big Mac still takes the cake for me in terms of value for $ and quality of burger. Five Guys is good but a little overrated in my opinion, I always come away more excited by the idea of 5 Guys than the actual meal itself. In and Out is very very solid.

This is the January installment of our interview series with Steve Lattimer, forward in the VHL. The Sun Gazzette is beginning a new monthly column that will cover the new playing career of Steve Lattimer, who has recently joined the VHL. Beat reporter Michael J. Smith will be sitting down with Lattimer every month in his hometown of Mooselookmeguntic, Maine. Smith: How was your December in VHL? Lattimer: I think it went pretty well? I answered a couple of press conferences, kept earning, think I did everything correctly? Applied some TPE. Smith: You don't sound enthusiastic. Lattimer: Honestly I think I'm still being underutilized. I get pinged now and again by my GM asking me to do a press conference and claim welfare (both of which I do immediately) but I'm getting little guidance on where to spend ,if I'm doing things correctly, if TPE is being applied. I think I'd be best utilized by a GM who literally tells me exactly what to invest in for the type of player THEY want on their team. Seems strange to be underutilized when I can be something very exact for whatever purpose is needing to be fulfilled. Smith: That does seem strange. Lattimer: Yes, it does. But hey, everyone's got a life I suppose. Smith: Are you active in the locker room? Lattimer: Not at all. I'm sure they're all great guys but I just don't have the time or energy to be jumping into that. Smith: Any thoughts on what's going on in the NHL currently? Lattimer: Caught some of the Washington Capitals' New Year's Eve game on the radio the other night. Ovechkin is utter insanity. I hope he keeps up this pace and gets the all time record. The dumbass commentators acted like it was a foregone conclusion that he'd break the all-time record, but I guess they forget about this little thing that plagues players, especially those in their 30s and late 30s. It's called injuries. But yeah, seems like a cool thing to follow and also seems like the league is top heavy this year? See some big favorites when I talk to my bookie. Smith: You gamble? Lattimer: No rules against gambling on the NHL when you play in the VHL. This wraps up our next edition of our monthly column with Steve Lattimer, newly minted member of the VHL.

1. We're down in the series 2-0 to San Diego. Is that too big of a hill to climb? - it's ironic because I play for San Diego in the SBA. That being said, I think a comeback is in the works. I hope. 2. Who do you think wins the Founder's Cup? Whoever is most deserving. I think it's going to be that team. 3. What is more important to you, personal success or team success? Really I think both are related, I'd love to contribute to team success. I've never been a guy who rides the pine and feels like I was part of something when I didn't do anything on the ice to contribute. So let's get both for Lattimer. 4. What is your favorite type of salad dressing? Thousand island dressing at times, otherwise just straight Italian i asbolutely love (and it's keto friendly) 5. What is your favorite NHL/hockey team? Washington Capitals but I'd be lying if i said i really cared about hockey. I loved the Canucks when they had the Sedins. 6. McDavid is pretty unanimously the best player in the world, but who do you think is the second best? Ovie? I mean let's just call him that since he's on the precipice of an insane milestone.

1. The team hasn't looked super good lately, can we still get out of no man's land? We haven't looked good? I hope Lattimer hasn't contributed to that. Sounds like I need to step up and grow a pair. 2. How would you describe your season so far (4 words max)? I. Have. No. Idea. 3. How would you describe the locker room atmospheare? Seems quite good, active, but admittedly I'm on the edges, i have many commitments and so i don't spend as much time there as i probably should. Seems cool though. Everyone seems to get along. 4. What you favourite flag in the world (country, state etc.)? I did a country report on Argentina when I was growing up so I've always been mildly partial to their flag. 5. Whats the most underrated abitlity to have in hockey? (for me it's getting lost on offense for example) Moving the defense with your eyes. Same with hockey as it is in basketball or football. 6. How was/is your favourite subject in school? I had no favorite subjects, I hated school. Ironically my favorite subject in college became my minor - Education.

This is the November installment of our interview series with Steve Lattimer, forward in the VHL. The Sun Gazzette is beginning a new monthly column that will cover the new playing career of Steve Lattimer, who has recently joined the VHL. Beat reporter Michael J. Smith will be sitting down with Lattimer every month in his hometown of Mooselookmeguntic, Maine. Smith: How's it been going so far in VHL? Lattimer: Good? I get some notifications whenever I login on here and it seems like things are going pretty decently but admittedly haven't been paying close attention. Smith: So you don't actually know how things are going? Lattimer: Not really. I get some updates on our internal chat from my GM (I think it's my GM?). So I have a general sense of what's going on but I couldn't quote you what our team's record is, or how Lattimer's doing. I think I had a hot stretch for a while there and then think we hit a lull. Maybe? Smith: So what's gone well then? Lattimer: Well, I have to give my coaches some credit, they are fairly diligent about pointing me in the right direction. Hitting me up when there are things they need me to do. Giving me light guidance on where to invest in skills development. I'm sure they want me to be a more active member but I hope they're getting something valuable from me. Smith: So you don't know what they think about you? Lattimer: I don't really have a clue. Maybe they don't think I have much to offer or would prefer someone who's super leaned into the league and the locker room. That ain't me unfortunately but I appreciate that I am engaged with, makes me feel like I'm doing something to contribute to winning which is never a bad thing. Smith: Okay, so what's next? Lattimer: I hope I can figure out what's going on with the league and how our team is doing. I hope Lattimer is in the league for as long as it makes sense for me and for any GM to roster me. So I'll keep at it as much as possible and await further guidance on a week to week basis about what my team needs from me and where I should continue to get better. But we'll see. I think my first GM was so good, and I guess I got transitioned, and the new one is good too but like I said, he's the person you should be interviewing, not me. This wraps up our next edition of our monthly column with Steve Lattimer, newly minted member of the VHL.

1. We have 10 points in our last 10 games and we're slipping a bit in the standings. Do you think that is cause for concern? I think malaise is typical for a lot of teams but the goal is to never let that sink in and take over the culture and energy of the team. So let's snap out of it, we're certainly better than our last 10 games have otherwise shown. 2. Our top defenseman Big B is leading the league in hits currently, do you think he finishes the season in first? Definitely. Big B is an enforcer. He's also known as Julio Franco in the locker room, that's all you need to know about how much of a man he is. 3. The season is nearly at the halfway point, do you think we're exceeding our expectations this season? (We finished dead last in the previous season, currently 5th) Exceeding certainly, thanks to good coaching, an active locker room, and guys who are putting the time in between games to get better. The trajectory is only going up for this squad. 4. Second liners Austin Goulet and Steve Lattimer are currently 5th and 8th in league points. Do you think the first line producing less is a concern? No, just means Lattimer is ready for first line. haha just kidding, no i think it means first line is doing a good job showing us what we need as a 2nd line to produce. It's like that good leadoff hitter for a baseball team, sometimes it's not about getting on base, it's about getting the pitcher to show you what's in his arsenal to make it easier on the rest of the lineup. 5. What is your opinion on pineapple on pizza? Complete and utter abomination and anyone who prefers it should be put in front of a firing line. 6. Who do you think the greatest athlete of all time is, not just in his own sport, but in any of them? Just wrote something elsewhere about Monica Seles; not the greatest athletes of all time but certainly could have been if she hadn't gotten stabbed on the court. 8 grand slams as a teenager. She was well on her way.

. Has the team met your expectations this season? I had no expectations to be honest since I don't pay attention but apparently I'm 7th in points and the team is very competitive so that's good! 2. What goals do you have for your player at this point of the season? No goals or expectations. If my GM wants to give me som then sure! It's really up to my GM to tell me when to earn and what to put it into, and if he does that, he gets whatever he wants. If he doesn't, then I do nothing. 3. What player on the team has had the most surprising performance so far? Again I really have no idea. I hate that my responses sound like I don't care about how special this league is, it's not lost on me how special it is but I just don't have much interest in it other than getting my 2 affiliate TPE per month for SBA. 4. How has your favorite NHL team fared so far this season? I really don't follow regular season hockey. Playoff hockey is some of the most entertaining sports-watching one can do, though. I find myself cheering for all the Canadian teams. 5. Are you celebrating Thanksgiving this week? Sure am/did. Dominated food, alcohol, and watching a shit ton of sports. 6. What is the greatest TV show of all time in your opinion? Hard to say, could easily make the case for Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul, Game of Thrones, Stranger Things. Classics like Seinfeld will never get old.

. What are your thoughts on being draft to Mississauga? It's my first experience with the team. Admittedly I'm one of the shy guys in the corner just listening and learning to all the veterans around me, soaking in the knowledge. I don't need to be a loud voice in the room. The people seem cool. 2. What did you think of your player's performance last season? I thought it was great especially given I had no baseline or expectation. Just looking to help the team and to be coached. It all seems to be very mutually beneficial thus far. 3. What are your player goals for this season? I have none. I've found in my life that the less expectations one has, the better. I'll look to be pleasantly surprised and continue to get better so that I can contribute, none of that is going to change. 4. The D.C. Dragons won their first Continental Cup. Do you think this is shocking? I'd probably be more shocked if I had any idea who they are and why people thought it was shocking to begin with. 5. What attribute do you think your player needs to work on? Everything . If you're not getting better you're getting worse. 6. What is your opinion on skim/0% milk? Skim milk for the win. I can't even look at 2% milk anymore, might a well be a milkshake it's so thick.

1. We performed good recently, do you think its gonna last? I have no idea, this is my first time playing for this team, so we could be the best team in the league or suck for all I know. Hopefully it's the former. 2. Do you think we have the potential to jump a bit up in the standings (we:69P, HFX:77P[next team ahead]) Yes, we're going to be the sleeper of the entire VHL, guys are going to want to be us, girls are going to want to be with us. 3. we signed some new players recently, do you think its gonna help? I fully expect to replace the entire starting roster, that's how good the new players on the team. Fate has us highly skilled and loaded with talent. 4. What is the best VHLM team and why is it missisauga? See above. Also everyone on the team has a dick size of over 8 inches. Team photo proved that during media day. 5. What do you think of the bone of destiny I literally have no idea what this is but it sounds arousing and therefore I love it. 6. Are you interested in the hockey WC? If yes who are you rooting for? I'm interested in whatever it is that will help my team so....I don't know if I'm into this or not.

Lattimer: Candidly, it's been great. It's been somewhat exactly aligned with what my expectations were going into this, and that's been a direct result of the people I've engaged throughout the past month. Smith: This seems unexpected given some of the commentary inspired from our last interview. Lattimer: I don't think there's anything surprising about my experience, or, really, the vitriol that came out of the last interview. I'll refrain from saying more about that because it's unproductive and I'm sure people would lose their minds again. Smith: So what's gone well then? Lattimer: I've been on the same page with my GMs, coaches, you name it. I've shared my expectations for what this is, what this isn't, and what they can expect to get out of me. It's been a tremendously positive and successful series of engagements. Smith: Can you give us examples? Lattimer: Sure. My GM picked me up, I told him how I planned on earning, he literally told me when to click buttons, earn TPE, and we had discussions on how to invest. He was gracious enough to adhere to my 'policy' on DMing me via Discord vs. communicating on the forums, and I'd venture to say it's been a very successful partnership, or was, since I think I've graduated now or something and now other GMs are recruiting me. But it's been good, he shares game results and recaps with me, we have fun with it but it's exactly the level of commitment I wanted to have. In fact I've probably committed more than I originally expected as I've joined some press conferences too. Smith: Okay, so what's next? Lattimer: Not sure. Some coaches have DMed me here to do the standard interview process which I'm not really participating in. I tell them all the same thing. This is exactly what you will and will not get out of me - I'll earn when you tell me to, I'll maybe join in on a press conference if it's easy for me to join, iI'll mold my player to what the team needs or the GM prefers. I won't join a discord locker room, I won't check the forum really, but I'll be what you need me to be. We'll see if anyone cares enough about that to draft me. If not, hey, it is what it is. But credit all due to my GM and my junior hockey tournament coach. They've both been fantastic. This wraps up our second edition of our monthly column with Steve Lattimer, newly minted member of the VHL.

Answers in red below 1. What is your player doing to keep busy during our extended offseason? Been cool to get some exposure to the junior tournaments and shit. Appreciate my coaches thinking of me and including me in those things, I'm not super active but it's fun to contribute, grow my skillset and contribute to winning. 2. What is your goal for S86? No specific goals, hopefully help the team win titles and receive some personal accolades but just taking my coach's direction on all of that. 3. If you could live the life of one animal, what would it be and why? A dog. Happy when you get affection, eat, you get your shit picked up by human beings, what's not to like. 4. What is your favourite element on the periodic table? I feel like I used to love radon or something but now I don't even know if that's on the periodic table. I clearly did not excel in chemistry. 5. What is the inspiration behind your username? Just stupid gibberish I used to say to friends. Means literally nothing. 6. If you were to add an statistic to STHS, what would it be? (God please grant me giveaways and takeaways) I can roll with giveaways and takeaways, is that was +/- is in hockey? Down with that.

Delhi Pickles Press Conference (S85 JST)
pugsood replied to animal74's topic in Team Press Conferences
Answers in red below. Have you participated in one of the league's off-season tournaments before (with your current or previous players)? Did you win anything? I haven't. This is my first go-round in anything related to VHL so I think this is very cool that you have this sort of tournament. 2. What was your first thought or feeling when you found out you had been drafted to the Pickles? I thought it was sort of awesome in terms of the proactiveness of it all. Reminds me of when I first joined the SBDL. Made me feel good to be wanted. Maybe I should have been doing VHL instead of SBA all along. 3. What skill or attribute do you hope to show off most for VHLE and VHL scouts in the Junior Showcase? I think I've invested in offensive vision and some defensive stuff too but seems like I've had more offensive success in my short career so far so hopefully helping make some winning plays is all. 4. What will be your goal song for the JST? Young Jeezy - Put On 5. Do you like pickles? If so, what kind is your favorite? Love pickles. Bread and butter for the win. 6. What other food item would make a good hockey team name? Bok Choi -
This response is so good on so many levels
