1. GM Gagnon in an interview openly has said that even though he was looking at possible trade deals - he feels like we might have something special here with our current roster - what are your thoughts on that?

 

I think we've got something good here that shouldn't be messed with too much. If we can add talent to help us win the cup I'm all for that, but I think we've already got a team that can do that 

2. Viking Brandy, one of the biggest sponsors of LA Stars released a video with LA Stars logo in it featuring slogan "Want to see Stars? Just drink up and slap it!" - how do you feel about that video and slogan?

 

I feel that it needs to be taken down, as it has led to far too many people getting slapped by our fanbase. 

3. Cooke and Murray have been seen arguing and pushing each other multiple times during game broadcasts - do you feel that it is a problem for our team roster? 

 

Sometimes I think they are trying to intimidate the other team out there by forming into one ultra hockey player. They're both competitive and bring out the best in each other, I don't see a problem.  Also, I hope to be able to use this in the future for Cooke when he pops off:

I do, and am purposefully saving my own goals for the playoffs for this reason! I think it makes us a difficult team to game-plan against when we have depth.

If Minion leaves Joyo is going to need to go on a darkness retreat for a weekend. 

6. Stars team has one of the best PK numbers in the league - what or who do you think is the key to having such a strong defensive effort?

It's a combination of a great system, great players, and a great job of yelling random names at the other team to confuse them.

1. Los Angeles Sports Broadcast show called out LA Stars Captaincy trio after a video surfaced with them all relaxing in a hottub few hours before the puck drop, they called them "unprofessional, disgraceful and not with the hockey spirit" - your thoughts?

 

My thoughts are that sports reporters must live their lives with perfect professionalism and efficiency at all times. If these guys knew what it took to play hockey they would be out on the ice instead of talking out their asses, let the captains enjoy some rest pre-game!

2. GM Gagnon has multiple times this week refused to answer any questions about teams performance saying - it will be a bad luck charm to go and talk about things like that. Do you believe there is a lot of supperstition in hockey?

 

I'm not a superstitious guy (aside from the shades), I think we make our own luck out there. 

3. Sunglasses Yoyo was quoted by York Times saying that "Stars LR is really supportive and inclusive while also making sure that there is a strict working mentality going on" - do you think having a LR like that is a bonus or a negative? 

 

I am not digging the Yoyo nickname, but I guess I got to earn the Joyo. Our lockerroom is great! I love that I've got connections to players from the VHLM and VHLE, and that we have the veterans who have been up at this level and know what it takes to improve

4. Recently LA Stars have slowed down a bit and have had 1-1 simulations, do you think it is time to worry about those games or they are just something that is always bound to happen?

 

I think it matters how we get the 1-1. If we lose to a top team by 1 goal we can look at the game for opportunities to improve, but I also don't think we are in a position to take any games for granted. 

5. Scoish and few other players have actively called for a new "VHLPA" to emerge to represent player rights, do you think VHL needs a VHLPA when it is well known that previous projects have failed?

 

I do think that we need one, and I think that it is a sad day when a velociraptor has to be the one to stand up for player rights. Good on Scoish for protecting the players!

6. Looking at your own performance this season, do you see yourself improving the pace on points, goals, other important statistics or do you feel you are right where you want to be?

I am happy with Joyo's performance because the team is doing well when he is on the ice by +/-. There are definitely things he can be doing better, but for a rookie I think he has been holding his own well!

1. GM Gagnon in an interview to LA Yellow Pages said that noone is safe when it comes to a roster spot and there is a potential for even a full rebuild. Do you believe that is true or do you believe that the roster is safe and the team is in a full competitive mode?

 

Since moving to LA I've learned that the Yellow Pages are gospel. My bags are staying packed 

2. Jason Argos was recently called out after he said he won't take any pictures with fans before the game as he believes that takes away his focus from the job itself. Do you believe this is the way to approach fans?

 

I support Jason. I think fans can lose sight of the mental preparation that occurs before the puck-drop, and that this really isn't the time to try to interact with the players. Find us post-game when there isn't as much happening!

3. Viking Brandy brand has been officially labelled themselves as the fan favourite drink for LA Stars supporters, have you ever tried it? 

 

I have not, I'm a social drinker and don't have brandy too often

4. After the start of the season, have you pinpointed any real problems with our team already or do you think it is too soon to say if we are ready for playoffs or not?

 

We've had a great start overall. As a rookie I'm not going to say whether we've proven anything or not, but I think we're playing well with room for improvement.

5. LA Stars Goalie coach recently talked in an interview about how he has never had a chance to work with such an amazing talented goaltending duo as Art and Minion, how do you feel about our goaltending duo?

 

Minion and me were together last season for Oslo, so I knew all about how great he is. Art has been a treat to play with though, I've never had someone that talented tending the net for my team, and it's very appreciated!

6. For many players on this team this season is a real chance to show how much they have progressed and if they are ready to take that next step into a true role of a superstar, do you believe it is important to see a progression in your career?

 

I think that the Sunglasses Joyo has built himself a reputation on his path to the VHL that does come with high expectations. Progression for him is making gains to catch up to the competition right now though.

1. GM Gagnon was recently seen causing a scene outside a sportsbar in San Francisco after the sportsbar manager refused to show on the TV a documentary film about pigeons and how they are the modern dragons, your thoughts about that situation?

 

What's a pigeon to me could be a dragon to another man, and who among us can say we haven't threatened a sportsbar manager? Certainly not I

2. Todd Cooke and Sunglasses Yoyo have both expressed openly that they spend a lot of time playing D&D and have missed practice sessions because of that, do you believe it hurts the team if players and their strong friendship interfere in their duties?

 

Sunglasses Joyo thank you very much  I believe Joyo needs Cooke's friendship to survive this slandering of his name

3. Looking at the roster for LA, we are really lacking support on Defensive end, with market being very tight, do you believe there is a chance to find a trade that would give us that 3rd or maybe even 4th defencemen? 

 

I always thinks there's a chance to add talent if we have the opportunity, but we've also got a great core that can work on developing our defense if we can't find the trade/

4. LA City Council has actively advocated for sports teams not to take up sponsorships from alcohol manufacturers, do you believe it is wise to focus on other sponsorships considering AGM John Frostbeard has really close ties with Viking Brandy brand that has worked with him in Malmo and Bratislava?

 

I'm not too into wearing sponsored jerseys, but if we need the money we need the money. I've never let the LA City Council stop me before..

5. LA Stars new coaching staff has been motivating players to get better and be ready to take that next step into playoffs, talking about yourself - what is the one category that you have developed the most this off-season?

 

My speed, I boosted it up to the 80s so that Joyo wouldn't be too slow at this level.

6. What are you expecting the new season to bring you in terms of results and actual achievements, are there any milestones you want to achieve in S87?

I'm hoping Joyo can find his footing, he's coming off of championship seasons in the VHLM and VHLE but it's obviously not going to be as easy at this level.

I like the move! From what I've heard LA is in need of offense, so I like that we were aggressive in addressing this!

3. Art Vandelay and Callum Murray were both seen going to a dinner with GM of Prague Phantoms. Do you think this is an early atempt to start recruiting both players to join Prague Phantoms in 2 seasons when their contracts end?

 

Tampering! Good thing we've got Alexander Minion coming up here with me!

4. Looking back at a disappointing season for LA Stars, do you believe the team has what it takes to get back into playoffs with the team that is assembled? 

 

I wasn't with the team last season so I'm not taking that attitude with me, I definitely believe we can be a playoff team.

5. LA Stars fan club recently came out with a statement that even though S86 was not the season they expected to see, they have full confidence in the ability of the management team to get this team back in order. How important is the support from fans and how does it influence you mentally in preperation for the next season?

 

It's nice to know that LA has a great fanbase, but I'm internally motivated to do well this year. 

6. With off-season just starting, there is an idea for all Stars players to spend a week together outside of the hockey world and get to know one another more - do you plan to attend to and do you have a suggestion on what you all should be doing during that time? 

Cabin retreat! Or maybe a destination trip to somewhere warm

1. The playoff race has been down to the wire , what do we need to do cone playoffs time to be successful.

We need the focus and mentality, no time for us to give up any cheap goals!

 

2. Is there a favourite going into the playoffs this year given how close the race is ?

I don't think there is, you've always got to re-prove your worth in the playoffs and I don't think anyone is a heavy favorite.

 

3. How do you prepare for playoffs usually ?

I break in a new pair of sunglasses, and get myself a massage.

 

4. Oslo has faced a lot of adversity this season , what do you think has been our teams rallying cry to get back into the thick of the race ?

I think it was our midseason additions and all of their energy, we really seemed to rally around those moves

 

5. Christmas is pretty much here what are you plans ? 

I'll be at a cabin with my family, looking forward to it a ton!
 

6. Go too cookies to leave out for Santa ?

What? haha, there are going to be lots of cookies available, my family has a few bakers.

We play harder! We send a message that Oslo has grown as a team, and that we are to be feared!

Our positive-outlook and friendliness. Also, our goal keeping.

 

3. what’s been our biggest weakness ?

Scoring unfortunately, but we're starting to change that!

 

4. Would you rather score an OT winner or save a goal in OT ?

I would rather save a goal at the end of regulation to secure a win than score an OT goal.  I would take the OT goal over the OT save though because there's not guarantee you still win after the OT save.

 

5. who do you got taking the fifa World Cup ?

I think France, but I haven't watched much this time.

 

6. Would you rather travel with the team on a bus or plane ?

Plane please, make the travel as short as possible.

1. Oslo recently acquired Rhys Trenton , and Vinny Lecavalier via trade how do you think they’ve meshed with our current team in the locker room and on the ice ?

I love the additions! They feel like the missing pieces that we've been needing, and I think the rest of the team has really stepped up once we brought in our reinforcements! 

 

2. We’ve been relatively inconsistent this year , how do we fix that ?

There's two ways that I can think of. The first is probably easier, which would be for us to throw every single game and make ourselves into a loser, but a consistent loser. The other method would be us putting it all together and lifting each other to a higher level-of-play so that we become a consistent winner. 

 

3. how has your player preformed through the first quarter of the season ?

Joyo started quiet, but now he's leading the team in points and +/- so I think he has settled in nicely. Looking forward to a strong finish to the season! 

 

4. Oslo is thinking about naming the team mascot , any Suggestions?

The Oslo Owls would be cool, so long as the owl was wearing sunglasses. 

 

5. Winter is finally here and here to stay , what do you prefer summer or winter ?

Winter over summer, but I'll take Fall and Spring over either. 

 

6. Who do you think has been the biggest surprise player this year in the NHL so far ?

My NHL knowledge is limited, but I do know Ilya Sorokin has been a revelation for the Isles.

1. We’re middle of the pack so far this season what areas could use improvement most ?

I think it has to be our scoring so far. We're doing a great job of playing disciplined defense most nights, but we're not doing enough with the offensive opportunities we've had. We're growing though, and we have talented offensive players to work with. 

 

2. Jon Webber Jr is on track to become the Storms all time leading scorer this season , does he do it ?

Definitely! We are picking up steam now and Webber Jr. will have a huge season, Joyo will look his way for all the assists he can get. 

 

3. If you could have one VHLE player past or present on the team this season who would it be and why ?

Care Bear! We teamed up in Halifax and Philadelphia, but he's still back there for this season. Great bear! 

 

4. what road city has the best away locker room and best rink in the VHLE ?

The best away locker room is Vasteras, as they are aware of my need for extra locker space and mirrors. 

For rink I love Stockholm, those games are fun ones 

 

5 . How’s your player doing so far this season ?

He's doing his best! Stat-wise it's been a slow start to the season, but Joyo has gone through this before. I'm excited to see how my role with the team continues to develop. 

 

6. Christmas is coming up what’s your go to Christmas movie ?

I'm not a huge fan of most Christmas movies, I like Elf a lot though

I wasn't here last season, but I think our strength will end up being our depth. It's nice to be surrounded by so much talent.

 

2. If we wanna repeat as champs this season what are the keys to success going to be ?

We have the talent for it, but we're going to have to come-together as a team to find our best game plan for this season. It may take us a while before we really click as a unit, but if we're ready by the playoffs nobody will stop us.

 

3. what are your goals for your player this year ?

I want Joyo to stay involved on offense and to be an effective defender.

 

4. did you accomplish your goals for your players last season ?

Absolutely! My season in Philadelphia started disappointing, but we did rebound to win the championship in the playoffs. It was a great experience to go through early in my career!

 

5. what was the biggest thing you worked on with your player this off season ?

Puck-handling, I realized that this is a bigger priority for my player if he wants to be an effective passer. Also face-offs!

 

6. who’s the early favourite this year in the VHL ?

Looks like Chicago, but I honestly haven't been able to follow the pro league yet.
