  1. — Lachlan Summers on the VHL Awards red carpet What an eventful offseason it was for HC Davos Dynamo netminder Lachlan Summers as he flew into Las Vegas, Nevada for the S90 VHL awards alongside his husband, sister, and mother. This was something he could have only dreamed of as a child growing up in Brisbane watching VHL highlights of goaltending greats, from the likes of Aidan Shaw and Greg Clegane to Xavier Booberry, whom Lachlan had backed up for in his rookie season with the Dynamo. Coming into the awards ceremony, Lachlan had already secured a statistical award: the Greg Clegane Trophy, which was awarded to the goaltender who had the lowest goals against average. With Lachlan’s impressive 2.06GAA, he was able to top the statistical leaderboard for this season and win his first Clegane. He was also nominated for four other awards: the Scotty Campbell, Brett Slobodzian, Aidan Shaw, and Dustin Funk, and won two of the four, which will be summarized now. The first award was the Dustin Funk Trophy, awarded to the Most Improved Player, with nominees: Lachlan, Ryuji Sakamoto, Mac Atlas, Fred Hampton, and Jason. The Funk ended up going to Hampton with 9 of the BOG votes, with all other nominees receiving a single vote each. However, there were still more trophies to come! Next was the Aidan Shaw Trophy, which was given to the VHL’s Best Goaltender and came down to its three nominees of Lachlan, Matt Murdock, and Merome Dilson. With his spectacular season and leading in all relevant goaltending stats that season, Lachlan earned all 13 votes and his second trophy of the evening! The Scotty Campbell is awarded to the league’s Most Valuable Player, and its nominees included Lachlan, Todd Cooke, Jason, and Ronan Lavelle. With a close vote, Cooke was deemed the winner with 7 of the BOG’s votes, 5 going to Lachlan, and 1 to Jason. The final trophy here is the Brett Slobodzian, awarded to the league’s Most Outstanding Player, as voted by the members of the VHL, and the nominees were: Jake Thunder, Skor McFleury, Jason, Todd Cooke, and Lachlan. This time, the votes fell into Lachlan’s favor with 45, while the other four nominees combined for a total of 55 votes. Finally, Lachlan was also given the honor of being selected for the S90 First All-VHL team. It was a busy night for the Aussie netminder in just his fourth season as the starter for HC Davos Dynamo! He had bounced back from a lackluster S89 where he had some critics hot on his tail, but with his career-high S90 as well as the eighth-highest save percentage in VHL history, Lachlan is determined to build on this year and adapt to the new core of players that Davos had put together for S91. As of S91, Lachlan’s trophy case consists of the Stolzschweiger, Slobodzian, Clegane, Shaw, and the team awards of the Victory Cup and Continental Cup. It is evident that this Davos team is a force to be reckoned with as they have blown all expectations out of the water these past few seasons despite many always counting them out, only to be proving critics wrong again and again. Lachlan will make sure they continue to do so. GO DAVID!

  3. Graphic Review: This is the definition of simple yet effective! What is most striking about this particular piece is that there is no text work, which allows the render and the other elements of this graphic to shine through. I love the grungy, black and white feel. Excellent attention to detail with the jersey swap as well as going to then extra mile in order to add a wolf onto the goaltender's mask! The VHL logo is also beautifully blended into the graphic to make up for that dead space, and the grunge texture brings it all together. I can't see anything that I would change about this graphic! Excellent work as usual, Subject! Keep the awesome works coming. Rating: 10/10

  9. Unfortunately, I have fallen victim to some brutal classes this semester, so I haven’t been able to be as active as I would like on the VHL— forum and Discord both— so please excuse my inactivity. But hey, that won’t stop me from max earning every week. I actually only ever claimed welfare once, and that was my first week in the league, which is insane to think about considering that was more than a year ago! Time flies. I do hope to get back into the swing of things, though. It’s not that I’m getting burnt out, but simply because I’ve had little to no time on my hands. I have some graphics to make and I’ve been working on them sparsely, and need to remember all my little design tricks and shortcuts. I may be only one of two users on the forum who’s ever used Procreate for GFX, but please correct me if I’m wrong. It’s just the software that I’m most comfortable with and even if the app wasn’t made with graphic design in mind, I work with what I’m familiar with and the results are a hundred times better than if you handed me Photoshop and told me to do something with it. I’ve rambled about this already in another media spot, but holy hell, did Lachlan have an amazing season! Leading all major goaltending stats this season and being the first to do so since S74 is no small feat, and I’m not sure if it was my build, Simon luck, or a bit of both but Lachlan has been on fire and as of now, is preparing to face Prague (AKA Fake Purple) in the next round of the playoffs. If we can repeat this season, that would be both insane and legendary. Lachlan’s also going to be in serious contention for quite a few individual awards, so I’m looking forward to that, as well. It’s hard to believe he’s already halfway through his VHL career! I’ve been banking for depreciation and have over 100 TPE at the ready so hopefully it’ll be enough to soften the blow, at least a little bit. It’ll be heartbreaking to see all my hard work be taken away by the horror that is depreciation in this league. I wish it was less harsh, but you gotta do what you gotta do, I suppose. Oh! And how could I forget? This is super old news at this point, but when it was announced that the VHLE was going to be contracted down to six teams before the start of this season, I couldn’t help but wonder why that sounded familiar: it was because it was one of the things I suggested in my theme week for last season of being commish for a day! I don’t know if any blues actually saw that post of mine, but I did suggest contracting the E by two teams in that media spot and never remembered to bring it up until now. It was a funny coincidence that it actually ended up happening, but it was nice to figure out that was actually a viable option to fix the issue within the E that a lot of users had brought up. I’m still waiting for those portal player photos, though. I suppose that’s all for this edition of Kirby Rambles! If you somehow read the whole thing up to this point, thank you for your time. That’ll be all from me on this fine Saturday evening!
  10. thank you, animal! i appreciate you and the rivalry we’ve created: it’s always a thrilling matchup between toronto and davos! hope to see you in the final, my friend.

We have broken another record-long drought by securing the Victory Cup! Will we continue our curse-breaking streak? 2. What are your thoughts on the VHL’s uncapped TPE opportunities (fantasy zone, holiday donation drives, VHFL, etc.)? Should there be more opportunities to earn TPE similar to these? 3. Spooky season is upon us now that it’s October! What will your player do to celebrate Halloween this year? 4. Predict how many Davos players will take home awards this offseason! 5. What were your player’s stats to end the season? 6. Are you following the VHL’s official accounts on social media? 7. Are you interested in playing the new Mortal Kombat game? 8. What is the first song that comes up when you shuffle your playlist?
  12. Lachlan Summers has just concluded his fourth season with HC Davos Dynamo and his third as their starting goaltender. His career thus far has started off strong, with winning the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy for Best Rookie in S88 to securing the Continental Cup with the team just last season to end one of the longest Cup droughts in VHL history. There were questions when Davos drafted him, but surely, those doubters have been put to rest since Summers has just put up his most individually stunning season yet in the effort to secure Davos the Victory Cup, again, shattering another record-long drought for the team. To recap his career thus far, Summers was first called up to the Dynamo in S87 to backup newly inducted Hall of Famer Xavier Booberry, where the Australian went 7-0-1 with a .938 SV%, 1.58 GAA, and a shutout, which was an extremely promising start for the young netminder, but left questions if he could keep up this performance in his next season. To follow, in S88 where he took up the mantle of starting goalie, a lot of pressure was on Summers’ shoulders, but that didn’t faze him in the slightest as he finished his true rookied campaign with a 39-18-7 record, .932 SV%, 2.3 GAA and 4 shutouts. His performance was similar to Prague’s Matt Murdock the year prior and thus, earned Summers the Stolzschweiger Trophy with every single BOG vote. There was a slight slump in S89, but Summers did surpass 40 wins for the first time in his young career. He went 43-15-6 with a .925 SV%, 2.4 GAA, and 4 shutouts. These numbers were less impressive than the year prior besides the win column, but nonetheless, didn’t matter to Summers as his team would secure the Continental Cup for the first time in over 20 seasons. Then came S90, a true standout season for Summers. He surpassed the 100 career win milestone with astounding stats as he guided his team to the Victory Cup during the last day of the regular season, just edging out the Toronto Legion! He finished this season 49-12-3, sporting a .938 SV%, 2.06 GAA, and 7 shutouts! This meant that Summers led the entire league in all major goaltending stats and is the first to do so since S74. With the lowest GAA in the league, Summers secured himself the Greg Clegane Trophy, and is now in contention for the Aidan Shaw Trophy (Top Goaltender), the Scotty Campbell Trophy (Most Valuable Player), and the Brett Slobodzian Trophy (Most Outstanding Player). If Summers is able to rake home most of these awards, could he be in consideration for one of the best single seasons for goalies in league history? Only time will tell. Overall, Lachlan Summers has been an absolute steal for HC Davos Dynamo. After dropping to 12th in the S86 VHL Entry Draft due to an influx of goaltenders in recent seasons, Summers is now on a revenge tour— punishing the other teams in the league for passing up on him and collecting accolades as he goes. The Aussie will continue to tear up the league for many more seasons to come and hopefully improve on this season’s performance.
