DBC Anchor: Good evening, folks, and welcome to tonight’s VHL coverage, presented by the Dimmensia Broadcasting Corporation. Tonight, we have an exclusive interview as we hand things over to our Swiss branch, where Julian Meier has sat down with HC Davos Dynamo and Warsaw Predators great Lachlan Summers. Take it away, Julian! Julian Meier: Lachlan, it is so nice to have you here in the studio today! Tell me, how has the retiree life been treating you? Lachlan Summers: Well, first of all, you’re making me feel old as hell, but it’s been. . . different— nice. Not waking up at the crack of dawn for practice or a travel day has been a little strange, but I’m settling into things. My husband and I are actually expecting our first child in a few months through a surrogate, so I reckon there was no better time than now to get this news out there. JM: Congratulations! That is so wonderful to hear! Will the little one be following in your footsteps and going for the skates and puck as soon as they can? LS: We’ll definitely teach them the basics, get them into a peewee program, but whatever they want to do when they grow up, Frankie and I will support them. I know how draining being an athlete can be and I wouldn’t want to force that on my kid if that’s something they decide doesn’t interest them. JM: You heard it here first, everybody. Now, there have been rumors that you’ve been in and out of the Davos facilities this offseason— is that true? LS: You caught me. Nothing gets past the DBC, eh? But yeah, I’ve been trying to ease my way back into hockey since I realized I can’t live without it. Wanted to try my hand at some sort of coaching position, and if all goes well, I’ll be behind the bench next season for Davos as an assistant. Surprise, surprise. JM: There's going to be many people who are going to be ecstatic to hear you’ll be returning to Davos! Did your good friend Sadie St-Louis’ post-career aspirations inspire you to pursue something like this? LS: Right on. We’ve been calling and texting a lot, and now that she’s been taking up all these GM positions for VHL tourneys as well as being AGM for the Marlins, I definitely felt like I still had some gas left in the tank as well. I hope she can score a full-time GM gig soon. I don’t think I’ve ever met anybody with a work ethic like hers. Bloody incredible shit she’s been able to do— pardon my language. JM: Seems you two do just about everything together! Now how would you reflect on your VHL career? LS: I’ll give it to you straight and tell you I’m not good with words. I feel accomplished and happy. To be regarded by a lot of people as “one of the best goaltenders the VHL has seen in recent memory” as well as a Continental Cup and eight individual trophies to my name after entering the VHLM as an unknown prospect? Jesus, I don’t even know where to start on what I think about that. I still can’t believe it sometimes. With playing against Jesse (Teno), Joel (Castle), Ash (Sparks), and Fuukka (Rask) my entire career, I couldn’t have asked for better competition to push me harder every single day. JM: Many are even considering you a first ballot Hall of Famer! It’s clear you’ve left quite the legacy behind, Lachlan. Any parting words you have for our viewers? LS: I just wanted to have fun out on the ice every night, because I knew that it wasn’t going to last forever. I’m happy with how my career turned out in the end and to move on to this next stage in life is something that’s bittersweet, honestly, especially with how many years I’ve dedicated myself to this sport. It's time for me and others in my draft class to hand things over to the next generation of VHLers. I hope I’ve done enough not only to inspire young Aussies to pursue ice hockey, as unconventional it may seem at first. This won’t be the last you see of me, though. JM: Thank you again for your time, Lachlan! On behalf of those at the DBC, we wish you the best of luck with your aspirations and congratulations again on the baby on the way! LS: Thanks, Julian. Always happy to be here.

OTTAWA, CA — It seems as though a storm of drama unraveled on social media in the past few days as Ottawa Lynx superstar and VHL draftee River Harrington posted a cryptic Instagram story which showcased a black screen, with the words “Brandon Petan Jr. is a snake” as its only caption. The post started a flurry of rumors of a falling out between the two friends, which came as a shock to many within the hockey community, as the two rising stars have been close since they were part of the same junior program in Vancouver to now being teammates on the Lynx. Fans of the two have been swarming their comments, asking about the story and the state of their relationship. Both Petan Jr. and Harrington have been radio silent, as they’ve both been playing in the Junior Showcase Tournament for the Royals and Warriors, respectively, until today. After the surge of concern from fans, Harrington took to his Instagram to clear things up as follows: “I didn’t think people would actually take it seriously,” Harrington said through laughter. “I don’t know what I expected, really. . . but things between Brandon and me are all good. If you guys really want to know, we were playing Uno: Show ‘Em No Mercy and Brandon decided it would be fun to throw down a +34 on me after we went back and forth. That was our last round of Uno for the night, obviously. But yeah, things are fine. . .” Turns out, the two had just gotten into a heated match of the new version of the game Uno, which, as the name implies, shows no mercy towards its players. After the clarification from Harrington, fans were relieved and even amused at the entire situation. It is safe to say both prospects are still on good terms with one another.

Which team do you believe is Davos’ biggest rival overall? 6. Thoughts on the end of the VHLE? 7. Will you be participating in the Pro Am this offseason? 8. So… the VHLE is no more. Another Kirby Mini Rambles is only appropriate, even if it is a week late. As a S86 player, I played one season in the VHLE with my first player, Lachlan Summers, for the Stockholm Vikings and contrary to a lot of other users, I had a great time and experience with the league. My GM was the always lovely @MubbleFubbles, and it was his scheming that allowed the Baby Marlins trio consisting of Lachlan, Sadie St-Louis, and John Richards to play together once more for what would be the final time in their careers. Despite the fact that Stockholm fell just short of the playoffs, I was still engaged throughout the entire season and looked forward to every sim since Mubbles was an extremely kind and active GM, always open to answering questions and providing advice for his players while keeping the atmosphere light. Our LR in general was also just a super active environment and there was never a dull moment! While it’s bittersweet for the VHLE to go, it’s clear that it is no longer needed since there isn’t an influx of users now that the pandemic has come and gone. It served its purpose and it’s time to say goodbye. It has always been a point of contention between users since its creation and after contracting the league by two teams a few seasons ago (I actually suggested this in my “Commish for a Day” theme week article), it was clear that was not the solution. I feel for those that held jobs in the E, as they are now looking to move on elsewhere, and I truly hope they find new positions extremely soon should they desire to. I don’t envy the BOG for having to make this extremely difficult decision, but it was what was necessary in the end to improve both the VHLM and VHL, I think.

Review: It's been a while since I've done a review, so here it goes! The first thing that sticks out to me is the great use of layers with the Vancouver logo in the background, which really makes the piece pop and catch the eye without drawing attention away from the renders, which I believe is a delicate balance that you pulled off perfectly! The jersey logo swap is clean and I love the little fabric texture that you added to give it that extra depth! I'm also always a sucker for VHL shield swaps, so overall, a super clean graphic that's simple yet so effective. If there's one small nitpick that I have, it's that I believe you could've erased the sponsor from the jersey so it doesn't distract from the Wolves logo as well as the sponsors on the helmets. Awesome job as always and as usual, I can't wait to see what you create next, Subject! Score: 9/10

Since I did a midseason recap, I figure it’s only fitting to do an end-of-season recap to see where River sits amongst his peers. But first and foremost, I want to announce that the Ottawa Lynx have made the S95 VHLM playoffs! It was quite the rollercoaster to get here (with an abysmal 9 game losing streak in there that we won’t talk about), but we managed to secure the last spot in the postseason over the Saskatoon Wild and San Diego Marlins by the good graces of Simon, who’d done us dirty almost the entire season. We face the Las Vegas Aces and time will only tell how that goes. Back to individual statistics, River Harrington played 72 games and ended with 21 goals and 59 assists to total 80 points. Of his goals, 2 of them were gamewinners, 11 were PPG, and only 1 was a shorty. He also boasts 79 hits and 122 shots blocked. These stats place him T-8th in assists, 3rd in defensemen points, 7th in shots blocked, T-2nd in power play goals, and T-3rd in shorthanded goals. Honestly, although I wish he scored a bit more, ending the season with 80 points is quite the feat, especially since Ottawa’s roster was rather thin. I can only hope his efforts will be enough to aid the team in this first round against Vegas and to say I’m anxious is an understatement. Whatever happens, I believe this has been a successful S95 for both River and Ottawa and I’m pleased with how the regular season ended!

Kirby Mini Rambles: I Love Applying Banked TPE
kirbithan replied to kirbithan's topic in VHL.com Articles
it's such a struggle lol! ahsoka is gonna be a beast in the vhl and i can't wait to see what she can do. -
Having been capped at 200 TPE since the week going into the VHLM dispersal draft for S95, I’ve been able to bank quite a lot now. Once this article gets approved, the count will be up to 121 that I can apply to River as soon as that rollover happens, which is always super exciting! There’s something so satisfying about being able to dump all of those points into attributes all at once, and I’ve been playing around with the player build tool to see how I want to utilize the TPE that I’ve earned. I’ve been aiming for a more offensively driven build as a defenseman, but I’ve been considering trying to balance it out into a two-way build so River can hit harder and block more shots after seeing his performance in the M this season. I’d also be lying if I said I didn’t want to craft him into a VHFL-pick worthy player in the future as well. I guess I just wrote this little Kirby Mini Rambles as a longer way of saying: WOW, it feels really nice to see over 100 banked go down to 0 at the first opportunity, and to see a build improve greatly with its application.

welcome back and good luck, animal!
