  1. (Lachlan) Summer(s) is indeed upon us, everyone. But bad puns aside, I just finished up my sophomore year of college so I’m one step closer to being a supposed “fully functioning adult” and that thought scares me if I’m being honest. Even though school is over for the year, I’m still pretty busy, but at least I have more time for the VHL and point tasks! Another wild thing that I wanted to mention is that I’m rapidly approaching my first anniversary of joining the VHL on July 25th. It’s crazy how quickly the time flies and how many friends I’ve made along the way. I’ve said this before, but joining the VHL has lessened my social anxiety online and I’d like to thank the open and amazing community we have here for that. If not for some very positive interactions early on in my career, I’m not sure how engaged I would be with the league. So many wonderful people helped me when I first joined as a clueless first gen and although I’m still considered a baby member when compared to some of the veterans around here, I’ve been enlightened on nearly everything about the league and what it has to offer. Hell, I would have never thought I would be the AGM of the Dynamo either! Thanks for reading and sticking along, y'all. I appreciate each and every one of you!
  2. DAVOS, CH — HC Davos Dynamo have done the unthinkable after going down three games in the series against the Moscow Menace, turning the tide and defeating them in a reverse sweep. Meanwhile, London United eliminated the first place Prague Phantoms in five games and have been impressive throughout the playoffs so far. These two fiery and scrappy teams will now face each other in Round 3 of the Continental Cup Playoffs. This goes to mention the rivalries that come with this matchup, as Siyan Yasilievich will be facing his former club— while good friends Lachlan Summers and Jesse Teno will square up in the crease for the first time in the playoffs, and potentially the first meeting of many. These two netminders have a rivalry that’s been blossoming over the course of this season and is sure to grow over the course of their young careers. Summers, who is still considered a rookie and in his first season starting for Davos, has backstopped his team to his first playoff series win in his entire career (VHLM/VHLE/VHL), and Teno has simply been spectacular and consistent thus far. Comparing the two, Summers has a 4-2-1 record, .924 SV%, and a 3.14 GAA. On the other hand, Teno boasts a 7-1-1 record, .955 SV%, 1.51 GAA, and three shutouts. Teno, on paper, has had better numbers and more experience under their belt in the big leagues, but Summers has been shown to be resilient and clutch when the time has called for it. “I can’t think of a better team to be a part of right now. Nobody on this Davos squad was playing scared against Moscow. We took it one game at a time and put on a hell of a performance and comeback. These guys deserve all of the praise in the world, and we’re hungry for more,” quoted Summers in a press conference after game 7 against Moscow. “London has been a thorn in our side lately, but we want to change that.” Summers was also asked about his rivalry with Teno, who he has kept in contact with since they were both players in the VHLM. “Jesse has stood on their head for London. That’s all I have to say. They’re playing like their life depends on it and I respect that. I know how hard they work and to be able to play against them in this next round will be thrilling. Plus, when Davos wins, the bragging rights will be unreal. It’s all in good fun, though. Anything that happens on the ice will stay there, as I’ve said before. They’re one of my closest friends in this league and I don’t think I’d be where I am without some friendly competition. We encourage each other to be better than we were the day before.” This series should be a nail biter as both teams are fairly well-matched, although London had the edge in the regular season. VHL fans are eager to see how London and Davos stack up, with their young goalies being one of the main focal points!
  3. stoked to be facing you guys this round!!
  4. Game Recap (Game 24: London United vs. Riga Reign): Although this was a low-scoring game with a score of 2-1 in favor of London, this was a wild one. London had 48 shots on goal and Riga had 38 despite only having three goals throughout the entire contest, and it was a battle of the goalies between Jesse Teno and Henry Tucker Jr.. Tucker Jr. was the reason the score was not more devastating, as London had three power plays in the first period and could not convert on any of them. Both teams were scoreless until the third period when Riga struck first with a goal from rising star Sadie St-Louis, but London soon answered with two of their own from Hari Singh Nalwa and Igor Molotov, taking Riga down in Game 3 of the series.
  5. What a rookie campaign for everyone’s favorite Aussie netminder Lachlan Summers! As most of you may know, S88 was his first season as the starter of Davos, and although some may have doubted trading Booberry in the preseason, Lachlan has proved himself to be capable of holding his own in net as a full-time starter in the VHL. Lachlan finished the season with a 39-18-7 record, a 0.932SV%, 2.3 GAA, along with 4 shutouts. I am more than happy with these numbers, considering the expectations that Lachlan has to live up to with filling Booberry’s shoes, and his campaign this season has met my expectations and more. This puts him in the running for not only the Stolzschweiger Trophy (Rookie of the Year), but also the Shaw (Top Goaltender)! Ending the regular season: Lachlan was 3rd in wins, 1st in save percentage, 5th in GAA, and 6th in shutouts, so he has a solid chance at securing both of these awards, which I’m thrilled about. But in the end, my sights are set on the Continental Cup, since it’s been too long since the Cup has been brought back to the beautiful town of Davos. It's been an amazing season for the team overall and I'm grateful to contribute to Davos' success. Let’s go DAVID!

  9. Game Review Malmo Nighthawks vs. Riga Reign (Game 396): What a WILD matchup between Malmo and Riga! You definitely don’t see teams go up by 4 goals early in the first like Malmo did (scored by Rex Wolffe Gregor, Saku Kotkakoivu x2, Yaroslav Trunov respectively) only to concede 7 goals in the next two periods (scored by James Marino, the Frenchman, Daniel Weaver, Sadie St-Louis, Daniel Clarke, Max Torq). Riga took Malmo’s early lead personally with all seven of their goals coming from unique goal scorers! They also proceeded to outshoot Malmo 54-34 in an absolute reverse domination. Both goalies Boris Tzesar and Henry Tucker Jr. had off games with each having a save percentage under .900.
  10. sounds good! i’ll get started on it as soon as i can
  11. thank you AJ!! i’m always open to taking requests, did you want anything particular to be included in the graphic? and is the goalie one of the players on your team right now or just any bulls goalie in general?
  12. Interviewer: “Hi, Lachlan! Thanks for taking some time out of your day to speak with us at the DBC before practice today. So, first of all… how are you feeling as the starting goaltender for Davos at this point in the season? Any nerves?” Lachlan Summers: “Nerves? No, I don’t have any. I like to think I’ve been under pressure my entire VHL career since starting out in the M and I’ve learned to live with it. I’ve been playing well, my teammates have been supporting me. What more could a goalie ask for?” I: “The EU is very competitive this season… Right now your team is sitting at 4th in the conference and living up to a Cup run is going to be hard to beat. How is the team preparing for this second half of the season?” LS: “We’re going to do exactly as we’ve done before— look over film, learn from our mistakes, and make some line changes along the way as needed. I always give 110% out there. Don’t want to be the reason the team is bogged down in any way." I: “You went 50/51 in saves against London a few days ago. How did you do it?” LS: “I’m gonna be honest, I wasn’t paying attention to the shot counter on the jumbotron, so I hadn’t even realized until after the fact. Plus I was covered in a hell of a lot of bruises after the game, even more than in the alleged attack involving bananas in 2014. Reckon just honing in on my strengths was how I did it, plus some good defensive plays from my teammates’ part. I wouldn't have been able to do anything without them. It was a thrilling game, though. Props to my good friend Jesse at the other end of the ice for playing their tail off, too.” I: “Thanks for your time again, Lachlan! Good luck with the remainder of the season and the DBC will be sure to catch up with you again soon.” LS: “Thanks, appreciate it.”
