  1. — (Photos 1, 2, 3): Lachlan Summers (1), Summers’ husband Frankie Ducharme (2), Sadie St-Louis and her fiancée Addie Berggren (3) VHL standout rookies Lachlan Summers and Sadie St-Louis (@sadie) are celebrating their spectacular first year in the Victory Hockey League with a trip to Honolulu, Hawaii with their significant others after St-Louis returned from a visit to Iceland! Both players have posted about their vacation on social media— with comments from fans raving about how they deserve the time off after their teams, HC Davos Dynamo and the Riga Reign, both made the playoffs this past season after a brutal battle in the EU Conference. The two hockey clubs met in the Semi Finals, where Davos defeated Riga. Lachlan Summers’ Instagram caption reads: “@lachy_summers: nowhere i'd rather be than paradise #honolulu2023”. It appears the young stars are taking full advantage of their time off, as they were pictured taste-testing some of Hawaii’s best cuisines and drinks, along with a paragliding experience, and a trip to the famous Dole Pineapple Plantation. Both players have noted in postseason interviews that this is the most they will have splurged on a trip before, but as Summers has just signed an extension with Davos and St-Louis is very close to getting a payday of her own as a cornerstone to a star-studded Riga squad, they both say it was worth it. Spending time under the rays of the Hawaiian sunshine is just what St-Louis and Summers seemed to need to unwind after an arduous season before the grind begins for the next year.

  5. DAVOS, CH — BREAKING NEWS Coming out of Davos, Switzerland, goaltender Lachlan Summers has signed a 4-year extension! After an impressive rookie season as backup to Xavier Booberry, the Swiss club has locked up the young netminder long-term. Coming into the S86 draft, Summers made it clear he wanted to stay with one team his entire career if possible, and it was evident that Davos shared his aspirations with this new contract. “I’d like to thank our GM, Alex Johnston, for believing in me and bringing me into the Dynamo organization in the first place despite the loaded goaltender class that year. It means the world to me to wear Davos purple and I’m happy to have gotten the contract talks done.” Summers was all smiles after exiting the Dynamo arena where he finalized the extension. “I admit, I’m gonna splurge a bit for myself but the rest is going into my savings account. Sadie St-Louis and I have talked about going on vacation together with our significant others this offseason, so I am definitely looking forward to that, especially after that banana attack that allegedly happened in 2014.” He was also asked about his expectations for the team after losing in heartbreaking fashion to the Calgary Wranglers in the Continental Cup final. “It sucks to fall short, to say the least, but it was also a rewarding experience. A lot of people pinned us as the underdog and we proved them wrong. It was a step forward in the right direction.” The Australian-born goaltender was drafted 12th overall two seasons ago, and will be likely to move into the starting role in Davos’ crease this season. This extension was the first step in that transition. We look forward to seeing how Summers’ career unfolds.

  13. Review: This is an example of a simple but effective graphic! The thing that stands out to me the most is the logo swap here as it seamlessly blends into the jersey and environment. The blur effect and coloring is used in moderation to help make the render stand out and it looks solid. My only nitpicky recommendations I have with this piece is to remove all NHL branding, such as on the collar of his jersey and the advertisement on the helmet. As well as making the text stand out a bit more with vibrant colors as the hues are so similar that it almost bleeds into the render. Overall, awesome work! 8/10
  14. Review: Flubbed trivia this week, but that means I get the opportunity to leave my thoughts on this awesome piece! Super creative work as usual, the composition of this graphic is perfectly balanced with the silhouette player render and the text work. I love the beard and ponytail combo, it's hilarious but also amazing at the same time. The textures and lighting are also well used/placed and give the piece a nice grungy look, befitting a graphic made for the playoffs and its intensity! The colors pop and catch a viewer's eye instantly. Overall, another splendid piece from you and I can't wait to see more! 9/10
  15. I was updating my signature the other day and added some stats from Lachlan’s career thus far, and realized there was a direct comparison I could make between his first season and his most recent season. As a first gen, I did not receive carryover TPE and started at a measly 30. So that means for his first few games, Lachlan was as effective as a bot goalie, as embarrassing as that sounds. In his seven games started for the S84 San Diego Marlins (a legendary team by the way), he was 2-5-0 with a .884SV% and an abysmal 3.56GAA. These numbers aren’t horrific for a first gen under 100 TPE but nothing to write home about either. Compare that to his S87 rookie numbers as the backup for HC Davos Dynamo, and he ended with a 7-0-1 record with a .938SV% and 1.58GAA. He had no losses in regulation and a shutout! You can tell by these numbers just how far he’s come as a player. He had nearly the same amount of games played as his VHLM waiver season, yet has improved immensely, and I couldn’t be prouder of him and myself for earning consistently and working on my build for this! Soon, Lachlan will be a VHL starter and that’ll be a true test as to how good he is as a goaltender. I’m just hoping for the best for the rest of his career, and to hopefully retire as a Davos legend.
  16. hope you enjoy, VLG! note to self: claimed
