    1. I would honestly have to say the Vancouver canucks have gotten to a very good start and the oilers have gotten to a very bad start considering their goaltending problem.

    2. I have two. One is the VGK one I wear to games and the other is my jersey back from high school when I played.

    3. As a goalie, i would have to say reaction time since the goalie has to be alert to stop pucks.

VSN Presents: Recapping an Era: Philadelphia

Following the end of the S90 playoffs, we saw the end of one of the most successful GM careers in recent VHLM history, as @Pifferfishstepped down as the GM of the Philadelphia Reapers. In today’s special presentation of VSN, we’re going to recap the era of Reapers hockey that Pifferfish was instrumental in constructing, and the legacy that has been built and will be the standard of GMs for seasons to come.

Piffer’s M career started when he was brought into the Reapers organization as an AGM during S85. Assisting the Reapers management; the GM being @Lemorse7, with pressers and lineup assistance, he helped bring the team into the playoffs with the Reapers posting a 35-31-6 record. Despite their regular season performance, the Reapers went all the way to the Founders Cup Finals, in which they beat the Las Vegas Aces in 6 games to win the Founders Cup! Off to a strong start, Piffer carried the knowledge acquired from such a successful season into S86, continuing AGM duties and assisting in improving the Reapers regular season record to 45-22-5. On the back of Ryan Sullivan winning defenseman Elias Lampi, the Reapers advanced all the way to the Conference Finals where they were ousted in 7 games to the Ottawa Lynx. Having contributed to the success of the Reapers, helping them be only a game away from back to back finals appearances, and the resignation of the GM, Piffer learned enough to ascend to the position of full time General Manager for S87.

S87 was a rough one as Piffer inherited a rebuilding franchise as a rookie GM. The team itself went 22-44-6, and was not present in the S87 playoffs. The season definitely proved to be a trial by fire, but glimpses of brilliance were already shining through in some moves being made by Piffer. A trade made in the season to acquire a S88 4th & 5th from Mexico City for a S87 4th showed that Piffer had long term goals with the team, and intended to turn the Reapers into a powerhouse team in a few seasons. His handling of S87 would prove to be perfect for the franchise as they vastly improved upon their S88 showing. Almost doubling their wins from the previous season, the team went 43-26-3 in the regular season. Piffer would complete three trades in S88, biggest of them being the acquisitions of Trey Jones @Slick, Dank Turtle @DankTurtle & Zyn Westwood @Sullvino. In the playoffs, the Reapers would dominate the competition in clinching games, having won two game 7’s on their path to their second Founders Cup in 4 seasons.

S89 would easily prove to be Piffers best showing as GM of Philadelphia, as this was the season the Reapers absolutely dominated everything and everyone. 55-12-5 was their regular season record, which would be good enough for the Prime Minister’s Cup for most points in the regular season. Axle Gunner @Steve would go to win the Ethan Osborne, while Tyler Swift @lilchrist would win the Vladimir Boomchenko & Ryan Sullivan Awards & Karl Herzlich @LastGoon007 would go to win the Mitch Higgins. A near sweep of yearly awards would surely mean playoff success, which they found by advancing all the way to the Finals for the third time in 5 seasons. Unfortunately the dream of another Founders Cup was cut short by a dominating performance by San Diego, who ousted them in 5 games. Even more unfortunately, this would be Piffers last season as GM of the Reapers, as he decided to resign down into the AGM position he previously held before becoming GM.

As of S90 Piffer had proven to be a great influence in management and remained as the AGM for the newly re-hired GM @Lemorse7, who he helped assist the team in maintaining competitiveness after the rebuild commenced. Despite entering a rebuild, the team remained very competitive, finishing the season with a commendable 30-34-8 record, allowing them to compete in the playoffs, though they were ousted in the first round.

The career of Pifferfish in Philadelphia was one of great success, and brought multiple team and player awards to the team, including two Founders Cup Championships, a Prime Minister’s Cup, and 8 individual player awards over the span of 6 seasons. While he may not be GM anymore, it’s safe to say that the prestige and competitiveness he brought to Philadelphia is definitely worth notice from around the league, and should be the standard as to how to help an M team win.

    1. Definitely, great team and great GM. Can't ask for anything more.
2.For Karl's current level, I was honesty expecting worse.
    3. I would say Colone.
4.I'm going to have to say Gunner since he is able to produce the physical plays and the scoring.
    5. I would have to say In-n-out.
6.I'm biased so I would have to say Nighthawks!

Based on my Week 1 post regarding the VHLM week recap, Halifax started out at 3-7-0, and sitting at the bottom of the league. Key additions to their F core at the trade deadline (C Jeid Rohnson and RW Maxim Anisimov via LVA) has boosted their scoring production and has propelled them up the standings. While it seems like this team is going to be a one-and-done in the playoffs, they have the potential to go farther than most have them. Only time will tell if they can prove they belong, as they have a middle-of-the-road schedule for the rest of the season.

Most disappointing team: Las Vegas Aces
The future looked bright for the Aces, as they started off in the middle of the pack and looked to have a young group of guys who could develop into MVP candidates. Now that they have dropped to 9th place in the league, they have begun rebuilding their squad and were very active at the trade deadline. Sending capped D Walter Fitzroy Jr to Houston in exchange for RW Jason Lajeunesse Jr and D Harjen Van Kraken started off the fire sale, looking to add raw depth to their team. Just two days later, the Aces packaged C Jeid Rohnson and RW Maxim Anisimov and sent them to Halifax in exchange for a high volume LW in Quinndillus Whopper and HFX's S91 3rd round pick. It will be interesting to see how LVA adjusts to this new era now that they are in prime position of securing the 1st overall pick.

    SCORING LEADERS (Top 10)
    1. Axle Gunner (PHI) (37 G, 49 A, 86 PTS)
    2. Miroslav (HFX) (30 G, 49 A, 79 PTS)
    3. Brad Marchand (SDM) (38 G, 41 A, 79 PTS)
    4. Carson Walker Jr. (MEX) (39 G, 38 A, 77 PTS)
    5. LeBen Aky (PHI) (37 G, 39 A, 76 PTS)
    6. Catia Goncalves (MIS) (34 G, 40 A, 74 PTS)
    7. Dominik Kopecky (MIS) (26 G, 45 A, 71 PTS)
    8. Sjin (SDM) (26 G, 44 A, 70 PTS)
    9. Tyler Swift (PHI) (20 G, 49 A, 69 PTS)
    10. Anthony Simmons (PHI) (23 G, 46 A, 69 PTS)

    GOALIE LEADERS (Top 5)
    1. Karl Herzlich (PHI) (45-8-3, .918 SV%, 2.22 GAA)
    2. Devon Giguere (HOU) (38-12-8, .904 SV%, 2.43 GAA)
    3. Clark (SDM) (37-14-7, .909 SV%, 2.3 GAA)
    4. Jose Avocado (MEX) (31-18-5, .906 SV%, 2.61 GAA)
    5. Pierre-luc Dutil (MIS) (28-22-7, .901 SV%, 2.92 GAA)

    MY TOP 3 MVP CANDIDATES:
    Axle Gunner, C, PHI
The best scorer in the league on the best team. Gunner has the perfect combination of goal scoring ability and playmaking ability to help his team find the back of the net on most nights. With a tight race for the top of the scoring leaderboard, only time will tell if he can keep up the production to help Philly clinch the Regular Season title.

    Karl Herzlich, G, PHI
You know what they say, defense wins championships. However, a big part of this mighty Reapers squad has been the production of Herzlich in between the pipes. Now that Philly is heading to the playoffs to defend their title, they are relying on him to become a key contributor in what is expected to be a deep playoff run for the Reapers. If he wins the Playoff MVP, there's no doubt in my mind he can win League MVP.

    Carson Walker Jr., RW, MEX
It was hard to choose if I should've gone D or another F for this final spot. I chose Walker Jr. primarily due to his goal scoring ability, a league-leading 39 goals have come off of his stick. He is a big contributor to Mexico City's success and is in the hunt of securing a sneaky MVP award.

    Honorable Mention:
    Tyler Swift, D, PHI
It was hard not putting a D in the Top 3, so I gave D Tyler Swift of Philly an honorable mention. Swift appears in numerous categories as one of the top, if not, the best Dmen in the M. He sure has to be keeping G Karl Herzlich happy considering Philly is an unstoppable force at the moment.

    FINAL THOUGHTS:
It's shaping up to be a very entertaining finish in the VHLM, I think the most out of any season that comes to recent memory. I think there's a clear favorite in the Reapers to repeat as Founder's Cup Champions, however, anything can happen and we've seen it before. The most entertaining part of the standings, however, is who will make it out alive? Both Las Vegas and Saskatoon need to have long streaks of wins if they want to sniff a bottom seed in the playoffs this year, but based on current trends, the window continues to close. This ending is shaping up to be a good one! Good luck to all teams!

    1. Eh so far my team has been quiet.
    2. I kind of like the key tracker. Kind of feels like a tradition after a game that some NHL teams do.
    3. For me, I would have to say San Diego.
    4. Eh doesn't matter to me to much since I don't use the emojis that much.
    5. I wouldn't mind getting another vet defensemen to boost the defense. But I think forward wise, we're solid.
6.I wouldn't mind as it means less pressure and fatigue for Karl.

    1. I think its just the synergy that we have as teammates.
2.I feel like they could. I mean they have to stick with one goaltender as their starter rather than alternate.
3.Personally, I would say that its surprising on how well Karl is doing. ( note: not bragging or anything, but genuinely surprised). This is considering so many topped out scorers on other teams.
4.No clue on what the Mitch Higgins is so I can really say.
    5. I would say Jeffrey Blake. I mean he faces the most amount of shots in the league and yet has a .913 sv percentage.
    6. Eh average. Its just the average one pick per round today for my team.

    1. my expectation for this season is to be in the top 3 in the VHLM goalie wise and also to keep my sv% above .900
2.I feel like LeBen Aky is a very solid choice in the scoring category.
3.Conference wise, I'm hoping 1st overall. Overall speaking, I would say in the top 2.
4.I would say the Vegas Aces since they were my former team when I first started in the VHLM as a goalie and also so I can go against my former teammate Jeffrey Blake. It would be weird seeing him on the opposite side of the rink.
    5.Keep my sv% above .920 hopefully
6.I feel like the Knights would come up either second in the pacific division since we are going to have some roster changes due to cap issues.

    1. I feel like we're doing pretty well performance wise. 2 wins and 1 loss is good enough for me since you are bound to lose a game a two.
    2. Individual performance wise, I would say that Karl has exceeded my expectations. I mean game 1 for team europe was surprising for me since Karl saved 48 out of 50 shots for the first time ever.
    3. I would say luck and skill as well as everyone's own individual responsibility of updating their tpe.
    4. It feels great since I am definitely doing better than the last WJC I participated in. I always has some national pride being selected for the WJC.
    5. For me its between, BjorkaBjorn BjornaBjorks and Nils since both Bjorka is helping offensively with the assists yet Nils is producing points through goals and assists.
    6. I would say iron man/tony stark. I would go joyriding in the iron man suits.

    1. This would be my second time playing for team Europe. I feel honored to be selected to represent Europe on a international scale.
    2. I would say the US since they took the gold medal last time.
    3. Definity, Eurydyka Sklodowska Dudzinska since he was a teammate of mine back when I played for the Aces and also Jeffrey Blake since he is my fellow netminder for the Reapers.
4.I would say the experience I would gain from facing different players is invaluable.
    5. I would say Nils would be a solid choice for an early prediction.
    6. Umm no comment (my lawyer has told me to not to speak) (JK)

    2. Great! Although I didn't do anything lol.
    3. Honestly as a goalie and therefore I'm biased, I would have to say Jeffery Blake. He's come in clutch when we needed him the most. Although, big shout-out to the entire team in general since everyone is giving it their all!!
    4. I feel like we would push them to a game 7 series.
    5. I honestly have no clue since I don't pay attention to other teams that much. But I would have to say their top line is something to watch out for.
    6. Honestly I don't know. I feel like that everyone on the team is doing good right now.
