  1. Ottawa Lynx Hoping to Pass the Yukon Rush in VHLM Standings

With the return of star forward, and leader of the Ottawa Lynx, David Hamilton hopes to take charge in usurping the Yukon Rush in the North American conference. They are currently sitting 2 points back from tying the Rush; however, they currently have played a couple extra games than the rush have.

"We've got a young roster that is just getting better and better every week. Come playoff time, I think we will have a well-rounded team that will have a serious chance of winning the VHLM championship." said captain Hamilton.

Cian Mercer, who is a rookie of the Lynx, is currently the point leader and has a bright future ahead of him in the VHL.

"Mercer has been great. When a young guy like that steps up it makes the jobs of the rest of the team much easier. Kendrick Cole has also been improving vastly this year, I see him everyday in the gym or at the practice facility."

  2. Lynx' Forward Kendrick Cole Hosts Charity Game

As an active member of the Ottawa community, the Lynx' right winger hosted a charity hockey game between current players and alumni members. The tournament's proceeds of $10 000 will be benefiting the local children's hospital.

"Giving back to the community is something all players should be striving for, and is something I was raised to view in high regards," said Cole in a press release from his player agent. "The fans come out every night to support the team, it is my way of saying thank you".

Cole is currently touted to be drafted into the VHL as a mid first rounder. He has a total of 42 points, and is among the league's top goal scorers. The Lynx are in the playoff picture as of now, and will only improve on their current roster to put them in a great position to win the championship.

    SCOUTING REPORT

    Pros:

Quick Release - Not only does Kendrick possess accuracy, but also has mastered the quick release that many players are trying to emulate. Scouts believe that his wrist shot is VHL ready, and won't have any difficulties transitioning over to the VHL. At the Junior A all star game back in Kendrick's hometown, he was bestowed with the honors as most accurate shooter after smashing through 4 plates in record setting time.

Skating - Before being drafted into the VHLM, Kendrick was generally regarded as the best non-professional skater in the country. Whether or not he keeps this up will be up to his will and determination, which scouts believe should not be difficult. VHL teams should be looking at him as a definite top 5 draft choice based on his speed and acceleration alone.

Character - Off and on the ice Kendrick is viewed as a leader not only for his team, but the community of his home town as well where he is highly involved. In addition to making weekly hospital visits, Kendrick has donated a quarter of his contract annually ever since becoming a professional athlete. If the current draft class has equally talented first round picks, scouts believe Kendrick should be drafted higher in the ranks based on his reliable character.

    Cons:

Questionable player agent - Kendrick has the potential to become a VHL all star given the strengths of his game and work ethic; however, teams may be wary of drafting him based on the erratic history of his player agent who has a rocky history with some current clubs. Harvey Singh, who represents Cole, was a draftee in the 12th season of the VHL.

Defense - Teams looking at picking up Kendrick should have a stellar defense system in play given the poor nature of his defensive responsibility. He is often found out of position in the defensive end, and has a poor back check. Coaches in the VHL may want to give him an additional season in the VHLM to smooth out those kinks in his game.

Physical Play- Case in point, Kendrick needs to better utilize his size. He possesses the body of a classic power forward, but is afraid to get in the dirty areas and generally plays off the perimeter.

    NOTES

Much like the majority of kids his age, Kendrick Cole has an enormous amount of potential if he can round out some rough patches in his playing repertoire. His strengths in offensive ability considerably outweighs the weaknesses in the game, and teams in the VHL will not hesitate to select him with a first rounder. The VHL's 48th draft is continually evolving into a very strong class, and as a group will have no problems taking the league by storm.
