  1. 1. I am completely new to the team being drafted 10th overall in the most recent draft, I don't know any of the current players at the moment, so not sure. 2. I am here for the rebuild process when I am called up to the VHL. 3. I believe management will see the rebuild through and make the right moves. 4. Maybe, although resetting and building for the future is not a bad move, in my opinion. 5. I'm not sure if they'd ever relocate, but it'd probably be a shame to lose the history and tradition. 6. I think that Helsinki drafted well in this draft, which is a pleasant surprise for the offseason.
  2. @SMYLS4 In today’s article, we will be analyzing Center’s. I will be analyzing the top 10 user controlled centers of the VHLM, sorted by +/-. I apologize in advance if your player was not included, but I will be limiting these articles to 10 players at a time to help limit article length to make it more readable. We will start each analysis with Plus / Minus, Hits and Shots Blocked. As a bonus we have Successful Hits, Puck Retrievals and Pass Interceptions as slightly hidden defensive stats. These three stats were gathered courtesy of user @VattghernCZ, who contributed heavily to the analysis of these centers. Then we will go over the offensive production of these centers, and finally we will list how many stars of the game they have accumulated. Without further ado, let’s dig right in. In the faceoff circle, his FO 40 rating supports an excellent 60.51% win rate on 29.15 draws per game In general, my observation is that the Centers who put up the most plus / minus were heavily focused in a few areas of their training. All ten centers, except for Invader ZImothy Timothy and CJ Franklin heavily spent on DC, the FO rating was spread around, but pretty balanced in general. The highest FO was Jeannot with 54, the lowest was Invader Zimothy Timothy with 0 FO. All centers with the exception of CJ Franklin heavily invested in OV. I hope that this article was enlightening and entertaining for everyone. 2100+ Words
  3. Reviewing S98 VHLM Playoff Preview: It's always a good read when reading a VSN article, so no surprise here. I'd say the thought's on how the playoffs would turn out were pretty accurate, unfortunately. My Mexico City Kings of course ran into the buzzsaw that is Houston Bulls, and it didn't end well. I'm pulling for Houston to win the Founder's Cup, although I almost did pick Philadelphia as a waiver signing when I joined up, ultimately choosing Mexico City because they needed my position. I'm interested to see where I end up when the VHLM dispersal draft happens, curious to see which of these team's I ultimately end up on, and after I know i'll definitely come back and reread this article to get some insight on my new team. This VSN article is definitely a 10/10, was a very good read, very informitive.

    Draft Needs

Reviewing Draft Needs: I found this article really helpful, and am somewhat suprised to see that my player John Cowgill is in the top 10 prospects, which is nice to see. I would love to end up in London, so I do hope this article's predictions play out, pretty neat to see the inner workings of the VHL clubs and what they need and where they are lealing going with their drafts. If I go top 10 in this draft i'll be very happy with that outcome, all though I can tell it'll be towards the bottom, as defense seems to be the priority for most teams. Also Zara slot's ahead of me as the first C off the board, which makes sense, I am a bit newer to the league, a little hard to catch up to the vet's that are eligible for this draft. So far I've max earned every week since joining, and I fully intend to keep max earning going forward, so in my humble opinion I do think i'll offer value towards the end of the top 10 picks. I loved the article, 10/10 for sure. Keep up the good work on disecting the thoughts of the big clubs.
  5. 1. I think New York is more likely to end their streak first, backed up by the fact they almost ended it this year, so i think they're close. 2. DIdn't do an ything special for bunny day, just played on my computer most of the day. 3. Spring is a good season because you have baseball starting up, and college football spring games. 4. VHL playoffs, mostly just to see the possible team's I can end up on in the VHL draft, curretnly i'm in Mexico City in the VHLM. 5. I think Milk Chocolate, i just feel chocolate should be brown i think. 6. Best easter candy i think is cadbury caramel egg's. I think they are iconic for easter. 7. I start from the ears down when I eat my easter bunny. 8. Probably Morgan, though I haven't drank alchohol in 9+ years, when i did though, i was much more likely to do a captain/coke than anything with bicardi.
  6. Reviewing Philadelphia's Future Outlook: It was good to read a second entry into this series, i'm learning a lot by reading these outlook posts. I almost chose Philadelphia as a waiver this past season, Philadelphia is the local team to where I am (Morgantown, WV), but ended up choosing Mexico City because they needed Center help. I find it less likely that i'll end up in Philadelphia, based on the information in this outlook post. I wish Philadelphia good luck in the playoffs this season, but not too much luck, because my team Mexico City is still alive. I'm really enjoying this series, I give it a solid 9 of 10 again for the second entry in the series. I've voted for Ottawa for the third entry in the series, but that choice is currently losing the poll. I look forward to learning more about the VHLM through future articles in this series.
  7. Reviewing Mississauga's Future Outlook: I found this article to be pretty informative, it gives me a look into how the VHLM operates from a year to year player talent perspective. I'm curious about how Mississauga looks to be honest, i've heard feedback from some people that I may be a possible pick for Mississauga in the next draft, so that's interesting. Will Mississauga be able to put it all together during the off season to make a deep playoff run next year? Yet to be determined, but it'd be interesting to be a part of it, if my name is called on draft day. I'm not sure what the center situation is like in Mississauga, so I may or may not even be a priority pick, depending on team needs. I enjoyed the article, I give it a solid 9 of 10, I'm looking forward to a possible Philadelphia version to further expand my knowledge.
  8. Yes, I'm a Mexico City King sneaking into the Houston Bulls press room, don't mind me 1. I think Houston has a good chance, although I hope Mexico City knocks them out this round. 2. I'm a little too new to VHL to have an opnion on this, but it sounds like the record may be hard to break. 3. I think I'd run it back, bring back the European league as an interim step between VHLM and VHL. 4. Las Vegas is my dark horse for the playoffs this year. 5. My player doesn't really have a goal celebration, it doesn't happen often enough. Much more likely to get assists than goals. 6. Sadly no break for me, I'm a 44 year old working man. I got to have easter sunday of course because I don't work on sunday's, but no break. <Sneaks out of the Bulls press room>
  9. 1. I think it's most important to keep playing the player's that got you here to this point. You don't want them to get rusty by sitting them, which could backfire. 2. I think Venkman will finish second in scoring, he has the 2 point lead and that'll be hard to overcome Martinez, but not impossible. 3. I think Mantzz can definitely be the most important player for us in the playoffs, he's a real sparkplug, great pickup. 4. Im a big believer in the importance of a good goaltender, and we definitely have a great goaltender in Silvia, i do think he is our MVP this season. 5. Definitley french toast, with the addition of egg's it brings it over the top, although waffles is a close second. 6. There are approximately 22,750,000 residents in Mexico City.
  10. Review: I found this artile very informative, and it was nice to read positive words written about my first gen player John Cowgill. I am a little suprised that I seem to be one of the higher earners in the group, with information showing TPE activity of each prospect being very helpful to gauge how I am doing in the league. I agree with ordering draft prospects based on their TPE earning potential, as that is very similar to how mock draft's are put together in PBE, another sim league I participate in. It will be interesting to see if I'm the first new gen Center off the board, and while I currently play for Mexico City Kings as a waiver pickup I am intrigued to know which VHLM team will actually draft me once I do hit the dispersal draft. If this media post is anything to go by, i think i'll be a good pickup for a VHLM team, it'll be very interesting to see how it all shakes out. Thank you for the article, it was very well written. I give it a 10/10 rating.
  11. My review of Grape's Ultimate Guide. I find this guide to be extremely helpful, and it follows closely the advise I received when joining the league, and how I have my build planned out. Furthermore, while compiling the Analytic's Edge articles that I have posted for VSN, i've noticed that focusing on a handful of attributes is the way to go to become a top performer. I think Grape ultimately leans this way as well, as the reccomended attributes to boost that he's stated follows along closely with boosting certain attribute groups. I fully agree that focusing defensively is also the way to go, my player John Cowgill is a center which is very heavily focused defensively, and i've noticed that he does pretty well with scoring points as well. I give this article a 10/10 for sure, great knowledge to spread around to the playerbase, thank you for sharing.
  12. 1. I feel more confident while having a man advantage by down by a goal i think. 2. It sends the message that we want to be a physical team, love it. 3. I think Mantzz will make a big offensive impact, i've noticed my scoring as Cowgill has improved after Mantzz joined too. 4. I hope I am getting hot for the postseason, my build is improving slowly, hope it'll make the rightt difference at the right time. I'd love to score around 10-12 points in the last 18 games I think. 5. I think i'm at a confidence scale of about 8.5, i think we're poised for a run. 6. You are salsa, and I think green salsa is my favorite.
  13. @LucyXpher In today’s article, we will be analyzing Defenders. I will be analyzing the top 10 user controlled defenders of the VHLM, sorted by +/-. These three stats were gathered courtesy of user VattghernCZ, who contributed heavily to the analysis of these defenders. Then we will go over the offensive production of these defenders, and finally we will list how many stars of the game they have accumulated. Without further ado, let’s dig right in. All players on this list have played in 34 games (at the time of writing), so keep that in mind for the totals they have accumulated. 1st, Krister Von Casar Tzesar, user @Komrad, Philadelphia Reapers. They contribute 0.53 assists per game, totaling 18 assists. They score on average 0.59 points per game, for a total of 20 points. They play 28.66 minutes per game, and score 0.41 points per 20 minutes. They were the 1st star 0 times, the 2nd star 0 times, and the 3rd star 3 times. Their ratings are 25 DK, 20 SH, 0 PA, 50 BC, 0 GR, 0 FO, 46 PC, 40 DC, 15 OV, 15 SP, 15 SS, 0 WS, 0 LD, 0 FG, 0 PO and they have 40 EXP. There were 226 TPE spent on this build. The top defensemen on the list is sort of balanced in their TPE spent, but is somewhat focused on BC, PC and DC. 2nd, Adam Joy, user @MrMom, Philadelphia Reapers. They generate 0.82 plus / minus per game, for a total of 28 plus / minus. They have 0.91 hits per game, totaling 31 hits. They have 1.08 shots blocked per game, for a total of 35 shots blocked. This player is much more offensively oriented than the number one defensemen by plus / minus, and it makes sense with their ratings being very focused, and they have put a high priority on OV. 3rd, Additional Pylons, user @courtjestr19, Houston Bulls. They generate 0.79 plus / minus per game, for a total of 27 plus / minus. They have 1.06 hits per game, totaling 36 hits. They have 0.76 shots blocked per game, for a total of 26 shots blocked. This player continues the trend of the top 2 and focuses heavily in a few areas, the highest being PC, but good investments in DK and DC as well. It seems to work as a strategy, being good enough for number three on the list. 4th, Feka Ohi Kau, user @Hacob, Houston Bulls. They generate 0.71 plus / minus per game, for a total of 24 plus / minus. They have 2.18 hits per game, totaling 74 hits. They have 1.0 shots blocked per game, for a total of 34 shots blocked. This user heavily focused on DK, DC, OV, PC and SH . The somewhat surprising result from their build is that the heaviest focus on OV in this group of ten players does not necessarily have the best offensive production of the group. 10th, Dog Jagr, user @koty_k, Houston Bulls. They generate 0.26 plus / minus per game, for a total of 9 plus / minus. They have 2.21 hits per game, totaling 75 hits. They have 1.26 shots blocked per game, for a total of 43 shots blocked. Despite having the most TPE spent on their build amongst these top ten defensemen, they grade in 10th place. I think this is in large part due to their philosophy of spreading their points around to lots of areas and not focusing on a limited number of areas. So far in my observations, players who focus tend to do better. In general, my observation is that the Defenders who put up the most plus / minus were heavily focused in a few areas of their training. All ten defenders heavily spent on DC and PC, which could indicate those are two key attributes for a defensemen, the rest of the ratings are kind of spread around, but the ones who did better focused on fewer areas, whichever those may have been. I hope that this article was enlightening and entertaining for everyone. 2200+ Words
  14. 1. I think my player helps contribute to the penalty kill, i am very defensive focused center. 2. It's a great boon having someone on the blueline contributing points to the cause, like having an extra attacker. 3. Yes physicality is a big part of our identity, I know my player is very physical focused. 4. Maybe better passing on the team can lead to better oppurtunities for Versti. 5. I think my player would excel on defense, i am a very defense focused build. 6. The historic square is named The Zocalo.
  15. 1. No it does not impact my confidence. I think our team is very solid and will show out in the end, I am slowly building up to be able to help to contribute more. 2. I'd say it's been critical to team success, if you cant score, you cant win. 3. I'm not sure what's been key to the improvement in power play, but I assume it's not due to the contributions of my player John Cowgill. 4. We do need to shore that up some, need to score some more and allow fewer scores, or else it could result in pain for us. 5. I think if i were allowed to choose a custom goal song for my player, it'd be "Here comes the boom". 6. The aztec city was Tenochtitlan, I believe. which was the capital of the Aztec empire.
  16. 1. I think the biggest factor in our success so far is how well the GM constructs the lines and places the pieces to put us in a position to succeed. 2. It is a wonderful feeling knowing that you have a Goalie back there that just wont let goals happen, I think Cowgill hopes to win as many faceoffs as he can this season to help keep puck possession so fewer shots are attempted against us. 3. Honestly I think the group is so successful because for the most part these players are spending their TPE in a focused manner, the one player who is a little more balanced is Hughes, so far via my mentorship i've received i';ve learned that being focused is the way to go. 4. I prefer spreading the offense throughout the lineup in general, at least having 1st and 2nd line being offensively oriented, maybe 3rd line defensive oriented. 5. You make sure the goaltender is aware the fault isn't on his shoulders alone, we play as a team, we win as a team, we lose as a team. If defense did a little better job we could possess the puck for longer stretches which would help the goalie out a lot. 6. I'd swap with Venkman for sure, he's built really well and that is a large part of what i'm building towards, i just dont have the TPE yet.
  17. +10 for John Cowgill

  19. The Analytics Edge: How Player Ratings Shape Plus/Minus in the VHLM @slothfacekilla Today’s article is my inaugural journey in writing for VSN, and this will kick off a long term series of statistical and ratings analysis that I will be doing every season, to help us better understand possibly the importance of ratings to stat performance. I hope this will help user’s better determine an upgrade path, to seek the specific performance they are looking for. In today’s article, we will be starting with Winger’s. I will be analyzing the top 10 Left Wingers and the top 10 Right Wingers of the VHLM, sorted by +/-. I apologize in advance if your player was not included, but I will be limiting these articles to 20 player’s at a time, to help limit article length to make it more readable. Without further ado, let’s dig right in. I will be starting with the top 10 Left Winger’s first. To be transparent, at least with the initial run of this article, I will primarily be focusing on offensive production of the wingers. 1st, ALTO RED, @alto_red , Philadelphia Reapers, they’ve scored 4 Goals, contributed 5 Assists, for a total of 9 Points. They are contributing 1.5 points per game with a Plus / Minus of 9. RED is contributing 3 hits per game, for a total of 18 hits. They are attempting 5.17 shots per game, with a total of 31 shots attempted, scoring 12.90% of those chances. They’ve played 171 minutes in 6 games playing for an average of 28.56 minutes of time on ice per game. They’ve scored 1.05 points per 20 minutes. This player prioritized DK and OV, which seems to have paid off in the form of a top offensive performance through the first 6 games. 2nd, Hunter s, @Hunter S, Houston Bulls, they’ve scored 3 Goals, contributed 5 Assists, for a total of 8 points. . They are contributing 1.33 points per game with a Plus / Minus of 6. Hunter s is contributing 2 hits per game, for a total of 12 hits. They are attempting 5.33 shots per game, with a total of 32 shots attempted, scoring 9.38% of those chances. They’ve played 172 minutes in 6 games playing for an average of 28.72 minutes of time on ice per game. They’ve scored .93 points per 20 minutes. This player prioritized SH, PC, DC and OV. They have more TPE assigned than the 1st place player, so they have more ratings to work with, they are a little more balanced ratings wise, however they are 3 points lower on the PLUS / MINUS through the first 6 games. 3rd, Lorenzo Mancini, @GioSivo, Saskatoon Wild, they’ve scored 3 Goals, contributed 5 Assists, for a total of 8 points. . They are contributing 1.33 points per game with a Plus / Minus of 5. Mancini is contributing 2 hits per game, for a total of 12 hits. This player prioritized DC and OV. They continue the trend of focusing on both DC and OV like the first two entrants, it seems to be a pattern that works. 4th, Tommy James Longpre, @TJ Longpre, Philadelphia Reapers, they’ve scored 2 Goals, contributed 3 Assists, for a total of 5 points. . They are contributing .83 points per game with a Plus / Minus of 3. Longpre is contributing 2.33 hits per game, for a total of 14 hits. This player is balanced across the board, not having a heavy investment in any one rating. While they are Plus / Minus of 3 which is pretty good production, so far the first three entrants show that this balanced approach may not be the best approach to produce top tier offensive production. 5th, Jakub Kovar, @MichkovSzn, Philadelphia Reapers, they’ve scored 3 Goals, contributed 5 Assists, for a total of 8 points. . They are contributing 1.33 points per game with a Plus / Minus of 2. Kovar is contributing 2.33 hits per game, for a total of 14 hits. This player has heavily invested in OV, SP, and SS. They are providing valuable offensive production, however what stands out to me is that their shot % is a good 6% lower than the previous player’s analyzed so far, does this indicate that maybe DV is valuable for shooting % as well? 7th, Fortnite Moneygang, @Max77, Ottawa Lynx, they’ve scored 4 Goals, contributed 2 Assists, for a total of 6 points. . They are contributing .86 points per game with a Plus / Minus of 2. Moneygang is contributing 1.29 hits per game, for a total of 9 hits. This player has spent their TPE in a balanced fashion instead of focusing a few areas. There offensive production is pretty good for their TPE spent, but could maybe benefit from focusing on fewer areas. However, their shot percentage is the highest so far at 16%, they just attempt fewer shots than the players analyzed before. 8th, Owen two, @do3bo1, Ottawa Lynx, they’ve scored 0 Goals, contributed 4 Assists, for a total of 4 points. . They are contributing .57 points per game with a Plus / Minus of 2. two is contributing 2.43 hits per game, for a total of 17 hits. This player has focus spent on GR, SP, WS and FG, with a moderate investment in BC. Their 0% shooting may indicate that ignoring OV and DC is potentially a problem, if you’re aiming to have good offensive production. 9th, Alex Versti, @VOID Stiles, Mexico City Kings, they’ve scored 1 Goal, contributed 1 Assist, for a total of 2 points. . They are contributing .33 points per game with a Plus / Minus of 2. Versti is contributing 2 hits per game, for a total of 12 hits. They are attempting 1.83 shots per game, with a total of 11 shots attempted, scoring 9.09% of those chances. This player has built in a balanced fashion. The pattern I’ve noticed so far, is those that are more focused on fewer ratings tend to have more offensive production than those that spread their points thin. 10th, Nick Abbott, @preds, Mexico City Kings, they’ve scored 1 Goal, contributed 1 Assist, for a total of 2 points. . They are contributing .33 points per game with a Plus / Minus of 1. Abbott is contributing 1.33 hits per game, for a total of 8 hits. The ratings that derive these stats are 7 DK, 6 SH, 30 PA, 5 BC, 2 GR, 1 FO, 3 PC, 3 DC, 25 OV, 24 SP, 26 SS, 50 WS, 5 LD, 2 FG, 2 PO and have 43 EXP. There were 191 TPE spent on this build. This player has built in a balanced fashion with the exception of heavily investing in WS. This is a further data point showing that balanced spending doesn’t pay in the high offensive production department. This wraps up the Left Winger portion of the analysis. Next we’ll be moving onto the top 10 Right Winger’s analyzed in order of Plus / Minus in descending order. 1st, Joseph Poole, @Itz_Viperz, Philadelphia Reapers, they’ve scored 2 Goals, contributed 7 Assists, for a total of 9 Points. They were the 1st star 0 time, the 2nd star 2 times and the 3rd star 0 times. The ratings that derive these stats are 20 DK, 21 SH, 0 PA, 0 BC, 0 GR, 10 FO, 43 PC, 30 DC, 72 OV, 24 SP, 40 SS, 22 WS, 0 LD, 0 FG, 0 PO and have 46 EXP. There were 292 TPE spent on this build. This player prioritized OV and has a strong investment in PC, SS and a moderate investment in DV allowing Poole to be the top Right Winger by Plus / Minus in today’s analysis. Just a note, but the top Left Winger and top Right Winger are both Philadelphia Reapers, there must be something in the water in Philadelphia. 2nd, Alex Bridges IV, @Oatex, Houston Bulls, they’ve scored 3 Goals, contributed 1 Assist, for a total of 4 Points. They are contributing .67 points per game with a Plus / Minus of 7. Bridges is contributing 2.5 hits per game, for a total of 15 hits. They are attempting 4 shots per game, with a total of 24 shots attempted, scoring 12.5% of those chances. They’ve played 151 minutes in 6 games playing for an average of 25.20 minutes of time on ice per game. They’ve scored .53 points per 20 minutes. They were the 1st star 0 times, the 2nd star 0 times and the 3rd star 2 times. The ratings that derive these stats are 38 DK, 48 SH, 10 PA, 0 BC, 0 GR, 0 FO, 12 PC, 61 DC, 84 OV, 22 SP, 2 SS, 5 WS, 0 LD, 0 FG, 0 PO and have 43 EXP. There were 313 TPE spent on this build. This player prioritized OV and DC and has a moderate investment in DK and SH. This approach was good enough to be second in PLUS / MINUS, I do note their shooting % is pretty high, they just don’t attempt as many shots per game as Poole did. 3rd, CJ Daniels, @xNJDevilsFanx, Saskatoon Wild, they’ve scored 5 Goals, contributed 5 Assists, for a total of 10 Points. They are contributing 1.67 points per game with a Plus / Minus of 5. Daniels is contributing 1.67 hits per game, for a total of 10 hits. The ratings that derive these stats are 44 DK, 32 SH, 40 PA, 0 BC, 3 GR, 15 FO, 6 PC, 48 DC, 72 OV, 43 SP, 45 SS, 50 WS, 0 LD, 0 FG, 0 PO and have 46 EXP. There were 400 TPE spent on this build. This player focused OV and was balanced in DK, SH, PA, DC, SP, SS and WS. This player actually has the best offensive production of all the winger’s analyzed so far, contributing 1.67 points per game, but that isn’t too surprising because this player is capped TPE wise at 400, so you would expect them to perform well. Their overall game surprisingly only managed to come in at a PLUS / MINUS of 5 however, which is good for third out of the Right Wingers and tied for 6th out of all 20 Winger’s analyzed. 4th, Agustin Martinez, @SleepyPlayz, Mexico City Kings, they’ve scored 3 Goals, contributed 6 Assists, for a total of 9 Points. This player focused OV and SS, a good investment in DC and a moderate investment in DK, SH, SP, WS. This is another high offensive performer showing that a focused approach of 70 OV and 70 SS can produce good offensive numbers. 5th, Miklo Zabanachev, @Dame, Houston Bulls, they’ve scored 1 Goals contributed 0 Assists, for a total of 1 Point. This result kind of surprises me, here’s a player that hasn’t spent a single point of TPE on their build, and yet they are the 5th best Right Winger according to Plus / Minus. They do have limited playing time which could factor in, only playing in 14.34 minutes per game. This is an interesting result, maybe it will work as a baseline for all of our other players, considering it is a blank canvas essentially. 6th, Jacob Seed, @oilmandan, San Diego Marlins, they’ve scored 6 Goals contributed 2 Assists, for a total of 8 Points. Lamothe focused OV and DC, and is balanced across the board with the rest of their points. This is a promising start, but maybe the data I’ve shown here today may support focusing a little more heavily on fewer ratings. Lamothe is getting the best bang for their buck, having less than 100 TPE to spend on their build, and still showing up in the top 10 list for their position is a good accomplishment. 9th, Raoul Cyr, @Tyler, Las Vegas Aces, they’ve scored 2 Goals contributed 3 Assists, for a total of 5 Points. Tree focused has focused on DK, SH, PC and DC. This approach seems to work for them, registering a Plus / Minus of 1 with a 60 TPE build is pretty impressive. In general my observation is that the Wingers who put up the most points were heavily invested in OV and DC. The thing that the top 4 points scoring wingers (scoring 1.5 points or more a game) have in common is that they all have 70+ OV, 30+ DC and 20+ DK. 3 of the 4 players had an EXP of 43+ with one player having 40 EXP. Maybe this initial dive points to the importance of OV, DC and DK for offensive production for wingers. I hope that this article was enlightening and entertaining for everyone. It was a joy to compile and jot it all down and helps open my eyes to the inner workings of the league, hopefully you will get out of it as much as I did. 4400+ Words
