  1. Toronto is Booker T and New York is Hulk Hogan.
  2. The opening of Book 2 is *chef's kiss* Lila is an icon, IMO
  3. You've gotten past the roughest parts of the series, which is noteworthy. Enjoy!
  4. 3.5 for Darker Shade is wild to me. The world building is off the charts. Your reading list makes me think you'd enjoy Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell though.
  5. Assuming wheel of time.
  6. Got em right where we want em
  7. 1 - Double G fo shore 2 - none of them. Don't really care. 3 - Double G fo shore 4 - Onions, sliced jalapeños. Sometimes franks red hot too, and stir it in. 5 - I'll be honest and say I don't have much of an opinion pre-Toronto but Raimo was a beast this year and will be missed. 6 - Interesting. I prefer free flowing days but sometimes it's nice to have a playback to reference.
  8. 1 - oof. Late to answer this. I'll say Yes lol 2 - Nope. I've been to 3. My own was my favorite. 3 - Scoring by committee is a good way to avoid a star or two having a cold streak 4 - Not being so cold in the basement when I record my Youtube content. 5 - Calgary. They're a sneaky strong team and I have a couple friends there that I would feel bad for when we trounce them. 6 - Lot of good options, but I'd probably go with tomato soup and a grilled cheese. Cheating a bit lol
  9. Haven't mentioned it in a while, but the games on my Youtube channel have changed up recently. I'm playing Avowed, Half Life 2, and Phantasy Star 4, all blind plays. Just in case anyone's interested. I also resurrected my Goodreads page and posted my first blog entry a few minutes ago, to prep for the novel release. You can also come talk to me on Bluesky if you want. I'm not super active there but occasionally post things like pictures of bread I've baked. And finally, I got a hug from my chiropractor this morning for helping him with some Google Workspace stuff earlier in the week. He doesn't work on Fridays, but he told me to come in at 10 for a free adjustment as a thank you. Edit: damn. Maybe I should make a LinkTree lol
  10. I'm a Sabres fan so I don't understand the question.
  11. With the regular season having come to a close, the Toronto Legion find themselves at the top of the North American standings and a single point behind the Moscow Menace for the league's best point total. The outcome of S98's regular season is probably a surprise to most pundits, as the Legion don't have the most experienced roster or necessarily most talented roster. Center Raimo Tuominen, who had 94 points in 72 games, winger Konstyantyn Shevchenko, who notched 81 points for third best on the team, and defenseman Andrew Skilton, who finished second in Legion scoring with 87 points, are Toronto's only skaters above the 1,000 TPE mark. Skilton leads the way with 1190. Compare that to Moscow, who has left winger Maverick Gonclaves with 1,404 TPE, center Jarmo Ruutu with 1,218 TPE, center Obuz Schneider Canet du Bocage with 1,198 TPE, and defender Jillian Woods with 1,249 TPE, and it becomes a bit of a struggle to discern how these two teams are separated by a single point in the standings. In terms of league leaders, Tuominen finished tied for 5th in goals with 46, 7 behind the league leader in Moscow's Gonclaves. Tuominen was also tied for 5th in total points with 94, 12 behind Gonclaves and his teammate, Jarmo Ruutu. Skilton was 2nd in the league in assists with 70, and finished 4th in defensive scoring, just 4 points behind the league leader, HC Davos Dynamo's Mina. Toronto winger Toby Kadachi had an outstanding season, leading the entire VHL in hits with 330, which significantly outpaced the 2nd place Erik Thorvaldsson of the Prague Phantoms, who ended with 291 hits. Kadachi fell just short of a point per game pace, ending with 69 points in 72 games, also spent a good bit of time in the Sin Bin, serving 152 minutes in penalties, good for a tie for 7th most in the VHL with Conference Prince-de-Galles of the Helsinki Titans. Skilton and fellow defenseman DB IV both ended the season with 13 power play goals, which were tops for Toronto and tied for 4th league-wide. Skilton also finished tied for 1st in shorthanded goals with a pair. The good news for Toronto is that the majority of their roster is slated to return next season, with Tuominen and depth defender Walter Fitzroy Jr as the only players who are retiring or not under contract. Kadachi, Shevchenko, Skilton, DV IV, defender Gul Dukat, winger Dorji Khan, goaltender Dalkr Vidarsson, and center Spanish Moon Moth will all be seeing significant decreases in their annual salaries starting next season, which means that the Legion will not only be able to bring back the majority of one of the league's best teams, but have an enormous amount of cap space available to fill in any holes via free agency. In fact, as of the time of this article, they only have 15 million committed for next season on a cap of 44 million, so 29 million available with slots for one forward and one defenseman due to the aforementioned retirements of Tuominen and Fitzroy Jr. If you're a fan of the Toronto Legion, you'd obviously be pulling for them to go all the way once the playoffs start up in the coming days. And, at the risk of putting the proverbial cart before the horse, it's hard not to be excited about the possibilities heading into next season, as well. There's going to be some serious parties on Bloor if the Legion go deep into the postseason
  12. Damn. Close games! So close to 30 goals, so close to the best record. I hope the playoffs don't end the same way, with me saying "so close."
  13. Raimo and Skilton are a dangerous duo
  14. Random list of stuff: - The Toronto Legion maintain a 2 point edge on the Seattle Bears for first place in North America. The Legion have better numbers in both offensive and defensive categories, as well. - Legion defenseman Andrew Skilton has 7 games to get 4 points to set a new career best mark in the total points category. He's already set career highs in assists, power play goals, and short handed goals. In fact, only 2 of his 17 goals this season have come at 5 on 5 play. - My business insurance kicks in today. I still haven't gotten my business cards. I want to dig out my old phone and try to get a separate number for the business so I don't get a bunch of bullshit on my main number. - The top team in the league is the Moscow Menace. They have a 3 point cushion over Toronto and have played one additional game. Similar to North America, the Helsinki Titans are breathing down their neck, just 2 points behind but with no games in hand. - My oldest child and I went away Friday night for a college event. I don't understand how I have a college-aged child. My youngest is heading toward Costa Rica as I type this, as part of the school's Travel Club. They grow up so fast.
  15. Aayyy 50 assist mark and 2 wins
  16. Definitely good to get that out of your system before the playoffs start
  17. I don't think that's the intention of that hashtag lol
  18. Good wins
  19. Of all the things I've lost, I think I miss my mind the most. It's Wednesday, or so they tell me, and the world around me has removed the jacket long enough for me to type this message. I better make it fast, because you never know when the young men in the white coats will return. I bought business insurance earlier this week, and it goes into effect come Monday. Still waiting on my business cards. Man I really want this thing to take off - not in a huge way, but in a "I can do this and maintain my current quality of life" way. I don't want #AllTheMonies. I just want to support my family and not stress about week to week. I'm at the point in Shevchenko's career where a week's worth of TPE might increase a stat by 1. It's frustrating, to say the least, and it's this area north of the 1,000 TPE mark where it starts to feel like chemistry and luck are more important than any specific skill number. I don't know if that's entirely true, but it's that mid-late career thing that I feel like every one of my players goes through. Look at Sakamoto's stats before DC and in DC. Dude was in depreciation and was like, "Oh, I'll get all the points now." But when he was at his peak? 7 points in 40 games, screw you.
  20. 1 - I think Dorji nailed it - S100 picks are too precious to GMs to give up. Plus, it's almost always quiet. 2 - Yes. They are awful. And my family is doing something of a self-imposed austerity budget, so I'm trying to make due without OTC meds. 3 - Not sure how many we need, but I know how many we're gonna get - 42. 4 - Generally not, though I do think, "Oh yeah, I should rewatch {blank}". Like when I see Gandalf, I think "It's been a long time since I watched the X Men movies." 5 - I'm in win-now mode so I haven't paid any attention. Nice to see GooningItUp back though. He's good people. 6 - I'm flexible on this. butter and salt is obvious, but we've done nutritional yeast, parmesan, garlic powder, cinnamon and sugar, oregano, chili powder. Just depends on the mood.
  21. Dorji's Big Day
  22. "It's nice to see Toronto win again, but where is the growth?" That was the line that closed a segment on the Toronto-based Fan590 sports radio about the Legion's winger-turned-center, Konstyantyn Shevchenko. Through 51 games, Shevchenko has 17 goals, 35 assists, and 52 points, along with a +13 plus/minus rating. He has been credited with 64 hits, and has 5 power play goals along with 3 game winners. Even though he's above a point per game pace, it's not hard to see why some are starting to question Shevchenko's future in Toronto. Shevchenko's shooting percentage this season is at 5.4%, a significant drop from last season's 7.9%, which itself was a significant drop from the prior season's 9%. Continuing the pattern, in his rookie season, Shevchenko scored on 10.1% of his shots. With 21 games remaining, it seems like a safe bet the massive Ukrainian will set a new career high in assists, as he is only 4 shy of the 39 helpers he notched two seasons ago. His special teams production has been steady, with this season's 5 power play goals being the same as he finished with last season and in his rookie year. He is averaging 6.14 shots per game this season, which is improvement over his prior best, last season's 5.58, but unless he goes on a sudden tear, he will fall well short of the 32 goals he potted for the Legion in Season 97. Small area games are a great practice drill Physically, he's a shell of the player he had been with the D.C. Dragons. In two seasons - 144 games - in D.C., Shevchenko totaled 419 hits. Compare that to his first 123 games for Toronto where he has amassed 149 hits. He has more or less performed well at the faceoff dot, at least, finishing 30 for 45 at the dot in the Legion's most recent game, a 6-1 drubbing of the Los Angeles Stars, though he was below 50% against the Helsinki Titans in the previous game. Perhaps it's simply the case of a team identity of protecting their own end before looking for individual accolades. Toronto's 108 goals allowed is just 1 more than the VHL's best in the Riga Reign, and the Legion's scoring by committee approach has helped them be in the top third of offensive generation, with 165 goals scored. The league leaders in the Titans are at 175. Then there's the elephant in the room, the topic that needs to be explored as delicately as possible. Shevchenko's homeland, the proud, independent nation of Ukraine, has been embroiled in a hostile invasion from Russia for over three years now. Ukraine still stands independent, but what was once an ally in the United States has become a self-serving and at times outright abusive relationship. The current government in the United States is demanding a massive sacrifice from Ukraine in order to continue supporting the nation, in the form of an absurd mineral rights proposal. For a player with as much patriotic pride as Shevchenko - not to mention his family's foundation that helps refugees flee Ukraine - the situation back home is undoubtedly a massive distraction. How this season ends for Shevchenko and Toronto remains to be seen, but one thing that cannot be in doubt is how big his heart is. "The people of Toronto have been so supportive of me," Shevchenko said after a weekend practice. "They know about the situation my country is in, and even when people stop me in the street or at the grocery store, they express their solidarity to Ukraine. I want to do everything in my power to bring a championship to Toronto as a thank you. It would be for them, the city's championship, not mine. Slava Ukraini!" Never forget what you're fighting for
  23. At least we won
