Against all odds, the Los Angeles Stars beat Chicago Phoenix in game seven.  Before the series, Chicago was a heavy favorite in the eyes of many due to a strong regular season. The Phoenix finished the regular season with 90 points. In comparison, the regular season for Los Angeles can be described with words like ''weak'' and ''shit'', the Stars had 89 points in the regular season.

Unpredictability in the playoffs is the name of the game. What makes this sport beautiful is the fact that a total underdog can beat the favorite. The series started like many expected, Chicago won game one. Somehow LA won the next game before Chicago took a 2-1 lead in the series. At that point fans of LA started to cancel their VHL television subscriptions early as there was no way the team is going to play that many games in this year's playoffs.

Then a miracle happened. LA won two games in a row. All of a sudden they were up 3-2 in the series! Chicago was the one who was facing the exit, they had to win game six, and they did. LA did not get anything done in game six. Chicago was up 4-0 early in the third. The stars of LA started to call their beauticians to come to the bench in order to begin preparations for some social event that took place after the game. Chicago won 4-2.

Game seven was full of drama. The game was high in energy, with lots of shots, lots of chances. As a result, the game was 3-2 for Chicago five minutes before the end. LA gets a powerplay. Merrick gets the puck from Stamen, Merrick scores - the game is 3-3. Chicago players started to lose control of their emotions at the end, Chicago players perhaps felt that there was no way a pretty boy club like LA should be this close to winning, but they were. Chicago forward Mingle took a double minor when there were two minutes left in the game. However, no more goals in the third meant that game seven is decided on the overtime, LA is still on the powerplay.

Against the expectations and thoughts of absolutely everybody watching, LA scored only 14 seconds into the overtime. Pines is the hero. Merrick and Letang got the assists. LA wins the series 4-3. They will play Seattle Bears next.

Can the Bears lose to LA?

I don't see how that is possible. Many had LA as the underdog against Phoenix. The same situation is true in this series as well. LA is the total underdog against Seattle. However, the difference in quality between the teams is massive. Seattle had an extremely strong regular season, Bears collected 99 points in the regular season, LA had that measly 89.

My prediction is that the LA Star players are happy to make it this far. They might win a game or two at home if the referees are kind. Meanwhile, Seattle Bears are only getting started. The team is full of quality. The team is hungry.

Before game one, many LA fans have been pleased that it's Seattle that eliminates their team from the playoffs. That shows how highly the fans of VHL and fans of other teams rank Seattle Bears, it's an honor to lose to such a glorious club. I think Seattle wins the series 4-1.
