He had walked past many people and some actually knew him. Of course they didn't know his secret but they have had prior encounters with him. Everyone in the city of New Orleans knew him and his brother Elijah and their sister Rebekah. Of course with many tourists coming to the city every year or people moving, he had new choices at who he wanted to claim as his next victim. It just so happened that he walked past a dark alley and had seen another vampire eating someone. The other vampire unaware of Klaus or who he was, kept feeding. Klaus thought this would be the perfect person to add to his list. He didn't want to do it there and he wanted to have fun with it. The next encounter he would get him. It happened the next day when Klaus saw him in the park. He walked up to him and quickly told him that he had to leave New Orleans. The other vampire laughed and told him he wasn't afraid of anything. He looked Klaus in the eyes and said, "I am a vampire. Do you know what I can....." Before he could finish his sentence, Klaus was already feasting on the other vampire and ripped his head off completely.
