Talking about VHL Members Favourite Games

Nurx made a topic asking for top 10 favourites games of the VHL userbase, I'll talk about that here but to make sure everything is VHL relevant I'll make sure there's 150 words of VHL content seamlessly hidden within.

Nurx (who has the player Yun Chiang in the VHL, who is a scoring first right winger for the Riga Reign), I liked his list and there's definitely some games on there I think I'll need to try for myself at some point (always wanted to give Shadow of the Colossus a go but never did). Games I Played of his list I liked the most: My favourite of his is probably GTA V, although I do like both MGS3 and Burnout Paradise as well.

Arce (who is currently my team and linemate on the Geneva Rush with Ronan Lavelle, who got taken by the DC Dragons in the first round of the S82 VHL Draft) has a list of games that are mainly from a couple of decades ago (think HeartGold/Soul Silver was the only one released in the 10's), but as a fan of Pokemon Games, I enjoyed the list. Game I Played of his list I liked the most: I have to go COD 4 just cause that was my first experience with online multiplayer and it blew my mind! Smackdown! Shut Your Mouth is probably my fourth favourite Smackdown!, but it is very close to the other 3 I like more.

Berocka (who has Unigiri, who is a goalie who is set to retire at the end of this season, so may well have a new player if you read this late) definitely seems like a Sony main (like myself as I've had all their consoles bar 5 as well) that crosses three generations. Games I Played of his list I liked the most: His first pick Crash Bandicoot 2 is a great game, I didn't get into Crash until 3:Warped, so it felt a bit weird going back to a game with less abilities when I eventually played 2, but it's still very good. Wii Sports is also great and can't wait for the Switch version that's coming out this year and Shane Warne Cricket 99 (Or Brian Lara Cricket as it was called over here) is the best cricket game I've played.

Peace (who was my former GM when he was in charge of the record-setting Saskatoon Wild in Season 69) has a very shooter heavy list, I wasn't surprised to see his first entry though as I remember during his first year here he was talking a lot of good stuff about Escape From Tarkov. Games I Played of his list I liked the most: I love Mass Effect 2, it's easily my favourite game on the 360, so I'd probably go with his pick of the Mass Effect franchise, although like I mentioned earlier I loved COD 4 as well.

Wcats (who has the player DBIII, a player who is currently on the E with the Rome Gladiators) mentioned he started on NES, but interestingly most of his games are from the 360/PS3 and Xbox 1/PS4 era. Most of his games feature a large open world. Games I Played of his list I liked the most: Sleeping Dogs is an underrated gem of a game that is like $20 on steam. For those who don't know it, it's an open world game similar to GTA (but with more focus on hand-to-hand combat than shooting) set in Hong Kong. Along with Saints Row 3 and GTA V, it is one of my favourite open-world games.

Ahma (everyone's favourite Davos lifer, who is currently playing as David Tavau) has a list of games I've heard a lot about, but not played too many of them. Looking at Sekiro and Demon Souls on there along with Skyrim makes me think he could well be looking forward to Elden Ring (the new game from the Demon Souls creators From Software). Games I Played of his list I liked the most: Of his list, I've only put significant time into all the MGS selections. I would probably say 3 is my favourite of the ones he pointed out, but 1 and 2 are obviously great games as well.

Shindigs (who is an absolute madman) made a list of games I've never played because he's an absolute madman, so I'll have to change this to Games On His List I Think I'd Like the Most: It'd probably be either EHM (As someone who is a fan of the Football Manager series) or Worms Armageddon (Never played that one, but played it's successor Worms: World Party and enjoyed that.

DLamb (who is the member behind Vasile Lamb, who went first overall to the New York Americans in the Season 82 Draft) did exactly the same as Shindigs so it's back to Games On His List I Think I'd Like the Most: And that'd probably be Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire. As someone who only recently (within the last year or two I think) acquired a 3DS and hadn't had a Nintendo Handheld between the Gameboy Colour and the Switch, I missed out on Ruby/Sapphire, but I do have a copy of Alpha Sapphire so I'll give that a go at some point (he says hopefully).

Lemorse7 (who is currently playing as Alexandre Leduc and is also a madman much like Shindigs) has a very Nintendo heavy list with a lot of focus on the Mario sports games. I hadn't played any of them, but I'm hopefully looking forward to their sequel to Mario Strikers coming out soon (but it's maybe too hopeful as last two sports games, Golf and Tennis, have been disappointing). Games I Played of his list I liked the most: Wii Sports, although Mario Kart's are obviously great and I liked Super Monkey Ball as well.

SpicyGecko (who currently has the player George Sanderson and, is as advertised, an exceptionally Spicy Gecko) has a list crossing three generations and crossing a lot of different genres Games I Played of his list I liked the most: Wii Sports makes the list again, but Guitar Hero 2 was my first venture into the plastic instrument genre and that was a very fun time. It's a shame Activision ran these games into the ground.

Ricer (who has Reylenn Reinhart who I picked to win MVP in the award predictions this year) picked an unordered list that features WCW vs. NWO, a game I probably would have loved, but didn't have an N64 to play it. Games I Played of his list I liked the most: Pokemon would probably be the top, I enjoyed Fortnite a lot in it's early days but I rapidly lost interest once they added the fort gun and have never gone back.

Josh Drake (who is a newer member who just joined the league a couple of days ago) has an interesting list with some games in genres I've enjoyed in the past but never specifically played the games he mentioned. E.g. I liked Crusader Kings but haven't played Victoria II, enjoy wrestling games but haven't played a ton of Fire Pro Wrestling Returns and never played Virtual Pro Wrestling. Games I Played of his list I liked the most: Sims 2 was an excellent experience, the step up from the original Sims (which in itself was a great game) was terrific. Gran Turismo 2 was also a very impressive game for its time, remember having a ton of fun with cheat disks unlocking all the crazy good cars on that game.

Fire Fletcher (who I will still call Flyers or Flyersfan for ever and ever) gave a lot of sports based entries on his list. He also probably has the list that has the most games I've enjoyed on it. Games I Played of his list I liked the most: I recently pulled out my PS2 to play some Madden 07 along with doing a VHL sim on PC Madden 08, so those picks are spot on. Football Manager is also great and, being free on Game Pass along with Crusader Kings 3, justifies the subscription alone!

Jardy (who I've heard is the sole person responsible for the resurgence of podcasts) put Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger on his list which reminds me given the announcement of Chrono Cross remastered coming to Switch, I NEED TO PLAY THOSE GAMES! Can you believe this will be the first time Chrono Cross actually makes it to the EU? I did also just yesterday buy the re-release of FF VI, so I'll be giving that a go for the first time at some point (I hear many say it's the best FF, so consider me interested).  Games I Played of his list I liked the most:  As mentioned earlier, Crusader Kings 3 solidly justifies my Gamepass subscription as that is a terrific game. I also had a lot of fun with Smackdown! Vs Raw 2006 , especially the GM mode and Smackdown! 2 was my first PSOne game and that was awesome, I loved the season mode and roster in that.

This is true.

I even avoided some of the super esoteric games that no one will have heard of like X-Games Pro Boarder, Viper Racing,  Pharaoh (except I had the Swedish dubbed version) and Atlantis: The Lost Tales.
