It's been an extremely competitive and hard fought first 10 games for every single team in the VHLE this season. A surprising statistic to showcase just how close it's been, we've seen 12 of the 40 televised VHLE games, or 30% of games, go to overtime (and in most cases a shootout) to decide the winner. One things for sure, the fans are getting their money's worth. The goalie's are all putting up incredible save %, and the games are closer than they have ever been. With a mere 6 points separating the top and bottom of the standings, anything can happen over the course of the next 62 games. As team's train, find their chemistry, and players individually improve throughout the course of the season, we may see some shakeups throughout this standing.

But let's be real, you want to know why Bratislava is really on top.

The Answer? Special Teams and Penalties.

It's an often overlooked aspect of the game, and it's currently where Bratislava is truly shining. They are not only 1st in Powerplay, but also 1st in Penalty Kill. Oh and did I mention that they have taken the least amount of penalties by a significant margin? Bratislava is currently outworking the opposing teams for the puck, and drawing many penalties because of this. Not only that, but their special teams execution is beating the next team by a whopping 2% in each category. We'll see how it shakes up as the season progresses, but if team's aren't able to crack the special teams of Bratislava, there may be some tough games ahead for many teams. Especially ones who can't keep themselves out of the sin bin. I'm talking to you Istanbul, Vasteras, Geneva, and Cologne ;)

One things for sure, this is going to be a fun ride of a season.

Also @BrandonWe are just that good.... People where just undervaluing how strong our defensive core is and how good our goaltending really is, not to even mention our fast growing Offensive prowess.
