Okay just because he asked for a trade from a team he wanted to leave does not make him a bad person. Many other players have done the same thing as to what he did.

Thats all he did? You sure?

Ehh forgive and forget.

The guy was a douche and multiple sources (some from within that own LR) said he had done things away from the rink that were not acceptable by teammates. No point in praising a guy who is known largely to be a douchebag by a large brass.

Cuz punching a guy in the face is really gonna deter him from doing it again.

Yes it will. Your from Philly you should understand you act bat shit crazy once people fuck off. Did you guys start watching hockey when all the pussies are allowed to play?

Fighting someone does nothing. You both go off the ice for 5 minutes, satisfy "the code" or whatever, and you're done. If the NHL actually had balls and handed out lengthy suspensions and hefty fines, you'd see the play clean up a lot faster.

Kesler was a bloody god in Vancouver until he left and then suddenly they demonize him.  It's hilariously Canuckian.

First of, he wasn't a god. Not even close. You want to talk about a "god" in the Vancouver market and the only answer is Trevor Linden. The Sedins too when they retire.

Second, Kesler was always a piece of shit. It was just swept under the rug because he had a few years as an elite two-way forward on a team that was primed to take a run at the Stanley Cup. For all his bitching and moaning about the media in this town -- and they do suck -- Kesler was pretty much left alone. The blame went everywhere but to him. He was excused for not having top six caliber wingers or battling through injury or blah blah blah. He had it easy compared to the Sedins, Luongo, etc.

The first season where things truly went sour, he decided to jump ship. Just like that. There's a reason Bieksa commented so soon afterwards saying he was "going down with the ship". Kesler had been stripped of his 'A' earlier in the season and the leadership of the team wanted nothing to do with him and his attitude anymore.

He bragged around in Sochi about how he wanted out, then denied requesting a trade for months. He limited management to three teams: Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Anaheim. When a deal wasn't done at the deadline, he pulled Pittsburgh off the list. Chicago was never interested. Anaheim was the only play he'd waive for and they're a division rival. The Canucks were forced to effectively take three quarters for a dollar to facilitate his wishes, and not even an hour later he's on TSN talking shit about the Canucks and how happy he is to move on.

Ryan Kesler is a fucking prick and now that he no longer has the Canucks logo on his chest, he has absolutely no protection from people in Vancouver calling him on it. It was the same in Anaheim before he was a Duck, and it'll be the same in any other city he may play in for the remainder of his career.

The Canucks gave Kesler a NTC. You can't hold it against a player for wanting to enforce it.

No, but you can for refusing to accept a trade to everywhere but one team, a division rival no less.

It's like how an abusive parents treats their kid.

Parent:  "You can have a choice of anything you want for supper tonight dear."

Child: "I'd like tomato soup please."

Parent:  "You fucking ingrate - HOW DARE YOU ASK FOR THAT!"
