Vancouver Wolves S90 Captains

It has been a while since we decided to give the team a chance to vote for the captains and following somewhat of a tradition in Vancouver; the Wolves GM Frank has once again traded away a Captain. This time assistant Captain Henry Eagles, who did step aside last season to become Honorary Assistant so what I am trying to say with the departure of Nico Pearce and Henry Eagles the team had at least one captaincy role to fill.

So, without much more barking or howling let get to the announcement already:

Captain:

Spoiler

Pierre Emile Bouchard  @Gaikoku-hito

Now in this fourth season as Captain and with a vote of confidence from this fellow team mates; the question remains can Bouchard lead this team back to the Continental Cup finals for a second time in a row. So far under his tenure he has led the team to Victory Cup in S87 and last season to Devon Marlow-Marta Trophy but missing from his resume is the Continental Cup as leader of the Wolves. If I am also correct, he is the second longest surviving Captain in Vancouver Wolves history behind only Fabio Jokinen (S52-S57)

Vote: 87.5% Voted for Bouchard to remain Captain.

Assistant Captain:

Spoiler

Dogwood Maple @dogwoodmaple

Also, in his fourth season as Assistant Captain as he joined the captain ranks with Bouchard back in S87; has really taken to leading the offensive for the Wolves over the past few seasons. Again, will be counted heavily to provide much needed leadership on and off the ice again this season, if the Wolves are going to march back to the Continental Cup finals. Bouchard and Maple have been a staple for the Wolves over the past four years but can they work together and claim Continental Cup?

Vote: 62.5% Voted to keep Maple as an assistant Captain this season.

Assistant Captain:

Spoiler

Wann Kerr

@VattghernCZ

Has big shoes to fill with the departure of Henry Eagles and Nico Pearce, they will be looked upon to provide a different voice, a stronger voice as the new guy to the leadership team.

Wann Kerr had a break-out season last year with finishing tied for third in scoring and dominated in the play-offs leading the Wolves to the Continental Cup finals by leading the league in play-off scoring with ten goals and thirteen assists for twenty-three points. He will need to continue his new for bite if the Wolves are going to fight their way back to the Continental Cup finals and hopefully this time lift the cup at the end of the seasons.

Vote: 57.1% voted for Kerr to be an assistant this season.

Assistant Captain:

Spoiler

Brain Payne @Scurvy

After much debate we decided to appoint three assistants this years as it is only fitting that Brain Payne should wear a letter in his final year. Very much Bouchard equal on and off the ice as the two seem very much like twins. Great overall leadership on and off the ice in his first season with the Wolves and it hasn`t gone unnoticed by his team mates. Can Bouchard and Payne continue to work together and bring the Wolves back to the Continental Cup finals? It just seems fitting that Payne would be a Assistant Captain to finish out his career in Vancouver.

Vote: 57.1% voted for Payne to be assistant captain this season.

Liv Slater 14.3%

Hockley Mann  14.3%

Oreo McFleury 14.3%

Girts Galvins 14.3%

Two old Wolves and one new pup amongst the leadership group this year. Tough act to follow from last season as the team found their legs and howled their way into the Finals before being kicked away in a reverse sweep at the hands of Davos. Can these three lead the pack back to the finals but finish the job this time around? No Pressure!!

Can the new pup add enough bark to make the rest listen in difficult times or help lick the wounds when the going is gets tough or am I simple running out of dog/wolves sayings as the team runs away with the Victory Cup and Continental Cup this season? Well, Thank god we will find out later this week when the longest every lasting off-season finally comes to an end!!
