Hogan 1,425
Hogan’s Guide to TPE Earning Uncapped Vs Capped Before we start I'd like to also mention that this is avaliable in the form of a video. Uncapped TPE Unlimited amount per week with even more ways to earn it compared to capped TPE. Donating, Practice Facility, Training Camp, Giveaways, Career Tasks, Super Coach, Fantasy, Theme week, Reviewing, Many, many more Capped TPE 12 Capped a week. Can be gained through a few different mediums. Graphics, Articles, Videos, Press Conferences, Welfare, Podcasts, Trivia Both of these can be combined weekly to max out your total TPE gain. Members who wish to gain as much TPE as they possibly can should focus on making sure they cap out at 12 capped per week and earn as much uncapped as they can. RED= Capped GREEN= Uncapped I will be following in this general order which is how the player development page on the forums is laid out. The main changes in this order will come at the end where I will outline additional uncapped TPE opportunities. Let’s start with Capped TPE Each week, a player can earn up to 12 capped TPE. These primarily are from a major PTs worth 6 TPE (Graphics, Videos, Podcasts, Articles). The remaining 6 TPE comes from smaller PTs which vary in TPE amounts (Press Conferences, Trivia, Mini Pods, etc.) The league runs on a weekly schedule, meaning this 12 TPE can be earned from Monday-Sunday before it resets. A typical week of earning for me looks like the following: Graphic, Press conference, mini graphic, trivia. Many members also follow this pattern but there are a ton of different ways to hit 12 TPE. Media Spots Media spots are a minimum 500 word article about anything VHL related. Accepted on the basis of effort, also make sure to have as proper punctuation as you can. Images, titles, paragraph organization, and more can all help your media spots look better. (I’ve tried to apply some techniques here) Additionally, Media spots are unique in that they can claim TPE over multiple weeks. 500 Words- 1 Week 1000 Words- 2 Weeks 1500 Words- 3 Weeks 2000 Words- 4 weeks This allows you to post a single media spot and claim it over a month, which is great if you plan on being less active for a period of time. Personally, I plan on claiming this while on a vacation. Graphics -Graphics are among the most common ways to earn TPE in the VHL. -They are worth 6 TPE and are typically accepted based on effort, not their quality. Here we have three graphics from @Zetterberg, @McWolf, and @Subject056 respectively. We can see clear “quality” differences in each graphic but the most important thing for one to be accepted is effort as mentioned. Videos Videos in the VHL are not very common, but can still earn you 6 TPE. Videos are typically player edits with highlights from real hockey games. Music and effects are great ways to add more to your videos and improve how they look. Videos are posted under the same location as graphics, this is most likely due to how uncommon they are, meaning they don’t get their own spot. Podcasts Podcasts are unique because multiple people can claim TPE on them. You can record yourself talking about anything VHL related and upload the audio to claim your TPE. Similarly to media spots, podcasts can be claimed over multiple weeks if they meet the requirements below. The TPE gained per podcast depends largely on how many people are included in it. There are also rare cases where you can claim TPE for stuff such as live streams which count as podcasts. Here we can see the chart showing how TPE gain works through podcasts. Welfare and Pension If you don’t want to or can’t do a 6 TPE task, then welfare is always there.Welfare is a free 4 capped TPE that you can get through the player page. It replaces your 6 point task, meaning you can only earn up to 10 TPE in a week where you claimed welfare. Pension is essentially a welfare upgrade, which grants 5 TPE. You cant start receiving welfare right away though. To get it, you must first have two players in the VHL reach 700+ TPE. VHL.Com Articles, Graphics, Radio These three are essentially the smaller versions of Media Spots, Articles, and podcasts and they’re worth less as they are shorter. Articles must be 150 words and face the same rules about effort as Media Spots. Graphics are typically lower quality, but still have effort put into them. VHL.com articles and graphics are both worth 2 TPE. VHL.com radio posts have to be at least five minutes long, but are worth 3 TPE. They are essentially mini podcasts and are a solid way to earn TPE based on time required. Trivia Each week, you may answer two trivia questions, worth 1 TPE each. These questions can be found in the portal, under the “League” heading. Trivia questions vary from member to member meaning that you will likely not have the same two questions as any other member. Answers can be tricky to find, but the VHL discord has a trivia help channel that can be very useful. Reviewing and Game Recaps Reviews are to be 75 words minimum reviewing an article, graphic or podcast. These can be posted as a part of the thread of whatever you are reviewing. You can review two things a week for 1 TPE each. Game recaps are 75 words minimum recapping any VHL game that you as a member did NOT take part in, as a player or GM. As is the case with reviews, you can write two weekly for 1 TPE each and they go under the sims of which the game happened. Press Conferences Press Conferences are all about answering/asking six questions. Each team has their own press conference, although you can also make a personal press conference for your player and request questions. The VHL has recently added “Answer 3, Ask 3”. Which is an ongoing thread where people answer the three previous questions posted and ask three of their own. You can answer any questions, even other teams, although it is advised that you do your own teams. Job Pay There are many different jobs in the VHL and there is a TPE incentive for almost all of them. Job pay varies a lot from position to position with some paying two while others are all the way up to eight. Job pay is something that you will most likely learn about through experiencing the VHL. Moving onto Uncapped TPE As previously stated, you can earn an infinite amount of uncapped TPE per week, although there will not always be alot available. There are tons of ways to earn uncapped TPE, some you can do weekly, monthly, while others are per season. There are also events which occur such as donation drives and holidays which give out TPE. Practice Facility The practice facility is the easiest way to earn TPE weekly, it’s just one button located above the welfare button. Every player should claim practice facility every week. The practice facility gives 2 uncapped TPE while you’re in the VHLM and VHLE, and only 1 TPE once you make it to the VHL. Career Point Tasks There are five different career tasks in the VHL. All giving differing amounts of TPE. They are all unlocked at different points of your career. Right off the beginning, members can complete both biographies and prospect scouting reports, then they must wait until their players reach certain milestones. Biography - To be completed anytime - 800 words 8 TPE Prospect Scouting Report - To be completed before first VHL game - 400 Words 4 TPE Hello Europe - To be completed during VHLE season - 400 words 5 TPE Rookie Experience - To be completed after first VHL season - 400 Words 5 TPE Career Reflection - To be completed after 4th VHL season - 400 Words - TPE All of these may also be completed as 10 minute podcasts, except the biography, which is 15 minutes. Fantasy The VHL features three different fantasy options which all take different amounts of time and offer different amounts of TPE based on how you do. We will be looking at the VHL fantasy zone, Victory Hockey Fantasy League, and VHL super coach. VHL Fantasy zone is done weekly, while Fantasy League and Super coach are both per season. VHL Fantasy Zone Each week, multiple questions about each league is posted. Members give their input on what they think is going to happen. The more accurate your predictions are, the more TPE you gain. The Fantasy zone is a quick and easy way to earn TPE and you can request to be mentioned on the forums every week when a new one is posted. These have a cutoff, pay attention to it! I personally find it best to enter my response as late as possible so I can have the best chance at getting the answers correct. It’s much easier to tell which team will do better if they have only two games remaining on the final day of answering instead of eight games when it was posted. Victory Hockey Fantasy League Before every season starts, members can enter their name to join the VHFL. It’s similar to any other fantasy sports in which 6 members draft 4 forwards, 2 defensemen, and 1 goalie through a snake draft. At the end of the season, players are ranked 1st-6th with 6 TPE going to the 1st place, 5 to 2nd etc. You can also apply to be a GM in VHFL, essentially meaning you keep track of the picks and make sure everyone makes their pick in their allotted 12 hour time frame. This gives 1 extra uncapped TPE. Once you’ve done VHLE once it’s easy to understand the role of the GM. There are only a certain number of spots to be GM so it’s best to apply early and make sure if you’re accepted that you do your job well. VHL Super Coach Super Coach is the newest fantasy option the VHL has added, starting last year. Every member is invited to create a team using 42$, with the player's costs being determined by their total TPE minus the last two numbers. Ex. John Jameson 1379 would be worth 13$. Each team consists of 3 forwards, 2 defensemen, and 1 goalie. TPE payout is based on the % in which you finish, with 6 being the most. Predictions Predictions can be done before a VHL season starts during the offseason. You are predicting the results of both players and teams in the VHL. Each correct prediction you make is worth 1 TPE. Affiliate TPE Members can earn 1 TPE monthly by posting a VHL.com level post on the leagues affiliate league the SBA (Simulation Basketball Association). It doesn’t seem like much, but if you want to be a top level TPE earner this is a good way to earn over 20 TPE if you play a full VHL career. You can also use the SBA to gain TPE through affiliate tasks, meaning a graphic posted there can be worth 6 TPE here as well. First Generation Bonus, Graduation Bonus, and Training Camp. If you are a first generation player, meaning you are either brand new or haven’t created a player in over three seasons, then you are eligible for the first generation bonus. The first generation bonus is a free uncapped 10 TPE that you can earn once you hit 100 TPE. All you have to do is make a post and link it. Graduation bonus is a free 10 TPE bonus that is applied to your player once they make it to the VHL. After you are drafted to the VHL you will be able to claim TPE from the training camp during each off season. There will be a training camp button that appears near the welfare and practice facility button that allows you to claim 10 TPE. Recruiting If you recruit players to the VHL, and they are active and successful members, you can see some benefit out of this. As they progress and reach new TPE benchmarks, you can also earn some, capping out at 15 total. “Recruiting” members can be done in two ways, either getting new members or getting somebody back that has been gone for 3 seasons/6 months. Recruiting can be a great tool to earn TPE that many members never go near. Here are the TPE requirements for players that are recruited in order for you to get TPE. The Player Store Over the course of your career, your player will rack up money as they sign new contracts. One use for this money is to buy TPE, there are many different purchases you can make. If you plan on having a longer career however, it is smart to save up this money as you will be able to buy depreciation fighters which will make sure your player stays as good as they can be. Donations Members can make donations to grant them a few small advantages in the VHL. Members can donate 5-15$ CAD (3.72-11.15 USD). Each 5$ lets you pick one perk listed below up to three picks. Donations can be done once per season, any time. The VHL also occasionally has donation drives, in which the community raises money for different causes, sometimes TPE can be earned through these in either a single donation or when the community reaches a large goal. The Ones That Occur Randomly Sometimes, we will be blessed with random TPE from the powers above. Often times this comes from the leagues anniversary or holidays. The amount of TPE given out is random and depends on who is giving it out and why. The biggest yearly event for the VHL is Christmas, in which every day you can post to enter a large raffle for prizes. Some of these prizes are TPE while others are real life video games or jerseys. Now what? Once you’ve earned all these TPE, it’s time to start spending it. There are multiple guides to help members make builds. These can be found on the forums and through the VHL discord. Never be afraid to reach out to people if you need help, your GM’s, AGM’s, teammates, and even random members will always be there for you. Did I forget anything? Probably, yes. The VHL has more ways than ever now to earn TPE and there's a good chance I missed something. As you play more and learn more, you’ll discover so many things about the league and ways to earn. Eventually, more things will be added, always make sure to keep an eye out for them. The most important thing about the league is not to be the best or have the highest TPE totals, but to make sure you’re happy with what you’re doing. Have fun. If anyone notices any information wrong in this or thinks I should add anything, let me know and I'd be glad to improve it. Senior Admin Will 4,662 Posted March 4 Senior Admin Share Posted March 4 Review: Little late on the review but thanks for putting this together, this is a great guide for new and returning members - you're 100% right that there are more TPE opportunities than ever and quite a bit is new or changed so very helpful to have it all in one place. Good use of pictures to help support the guide. Obviously this is mainly for new members so maybe this was by design but the only TPE I can think of that isn't mentioned here is job pay. 10/10 Hogan 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/145192-hogans-guide-to-tpe-earning/#findComment-1017742 Share on other sites
