DollarAndADream 3,356
After a strong season from the Calgary Wranglers, things seemed to be heading in the right direction for seasons to come. That opinion was tested heavily as at the end of Season 40, they had multiple retirements and many members of the team go inactive. This was an unexpected turn for the franchise who was looking to improve on their 2nd Round defeat to the Americans heading into Season 41. They had a great team with many up and comers and a star at the center position, with various veterans to hold down the fort going forward. Not all things remain as they should though, and there were some surprises in the off-season. After the playoffs ended, the organization as a whole had to re-access their situation. They were likely not going to compete for the Cup in the coming seasons, with all of the departures that the team had. This is where the focus was put on their captain, Travis Boychuk. Coming into the VHL he turned more than a few heads while putting up Top 10 numbers in the league, while dropping off during this season where it was the best squad the Wranglers had put together in a long time. For a player such as Boychuk heading into his peak, it only seemed the best option to acquire a better future for him. It was then when Travis Boychuk was traded alongside with Edwin Encarnacion's rights and a 4th Rounder to the Quebec City Meute for Jarome Iginla, a 1st Round Pick in S43 and a 2nd Round Pick in S41. ------------------------- Boychuk in what would be his last game as a Calgary Wrangler ------------------------- When this trade went through, Quebec City knew exactly what they were getting and Calgary knew what they had lost. Drafted 8th overall in Season 37, the Wranglers sought out to make a mark for the coming years with Boychuk. Heading to the Meute was not something that Travis Boychuk had ever thought as a possibility as leaving Calgary was not in his intentions. That being said, every player wants their best opportunity to win it all so it had only made sense to leave. Nowadays in professional sports everybody knows in the back of their mind that it is in the realm of many outcomes to occur. Being the captain of Calgary, fans were shocked at the trade after a storied playoffs this past season from the club. With a new team comes new challenges for the centerman, who will be surrounded by a great deal of talent in Quebec City. One current member of the team is Konstantin Azhishchenkov, a man who Travis Boychuk started his career with in the VHL minor system with the Ottawa Lynx. Working under a raw talent like KJA was a dream come true to help grow Boychuk into the player he is today, so it will be interesting to see what kind of chemistry they can discover together. Along with KJA are Boychuk's ex-teammates Dexter Morgan and Brock Waldron from the Turku Outlaws of the VHLM as well. Having such skilled players that he has played with before will benefit him greatly heading forward as a warm welcome to the club. ----------------------- Travis Boychuk tries out his new jersey for the first time at training camp ----------------------- Besides his renewed squad-mates, there are more than a few other high calibur players on the Meute. Right winger Bruno Wolf comes to mind at first, blossoming into a top-tier winger in the VHL with 3 seasons under his belt like Boychuk. Wolf will be an easy target to find chemistry with given the similarities. Another centerman gunning for the number one spot is Aksel Thomassen, who will look to make things competitive when lines are considered. The Dane should play just fine alongside Boychuk as well, and can learn a few things from the man who was a Top 10 player for his first 2 VHL seasons. Rami Jakobssen will come through the fold as their top left winger, so it will be interesting to see how things pan out with all of this talent. On the defensive side, Travis Boychuk will run into a familiar face. Koji Yamazaki was a member of the Calgary Wranglers for a short time before heading to Quebec City after a minor dispute with the organization. The defenseman is quickly becoming an offensive threat in the league. Wesley Matthews and Lauris Prikulis are the other 2 main defensemen on the club who will log heavy minutes next season. Heading into Season 41 it will be curious to see how Yamazaki and Boychuk can put together some chemistry at first. With lots of moves made for Quebec City and a new environment for Travis Boychuk, next season is going to be very interesting. We look for the Meute to be one of the better teams play as a contender for awhile. If Boychuk can turn around and go back to what he had displayed in his first 2 VHL seasons, it is not a long shot for Quebec City to be number one. pxzero 65
Content: 3/3 Well over the word count. That trade seems like a bit of a blow! Hope things work out on the Meute. Grammar: 2/2 Lots of missed commas, a few weird sentences. Nothing to lose points over. tested heavily as, at the end of Season 40, they - missing a comma Coming into the VHL, he turned - missing a comma , while dropping off during this... - Awkwardly worded. I would make this a new sentence and go something like "While his numbers dropped off this season, it was still..." or something to that effect. to win it all, so it had - missing a comma Nowadays in professional sports, everybody knows - missing a comma , and he can learn a few things... - missing the pronoun needed to make the second half of the sentence an independent clause On the defensive side, Travis Boychuk will run into yet another familiar face. - this is a preference thing, but I recommend this change because Boychuk already has 3 familiar faces in his former VHLM compatriots We look for the Meute to be one of the better teams play as a contender for awhile. - weirdly worded. I suggest "We look for the Meute to be one of the better teams, who will be a contender for a while" or something similar. Appearance: 1/1 Formatted well, easy to read. One of your images is broken, so be careful with that next time. Also, the bolding seems sort of random since it doesn't allow me to skim a sentence and fully understand it, but it also doesn't detract from the reading experience at all. DollarAndADream 3,356
Both of the images still work fine for me. The bolding should be for the key points, names, cities, etc. All of the comma and wording mistakes.....that's my bad for writing it all on a Friday night. pxzero 65
That's really odd! I guess it depends on the computer I use. The image is coming up fine for me now on my PC, but it didn't on my laptop. As for the bolding, I see now how you did it. Honestly, I just tend to make comments to show I've put thought into my marking. It still got full marks though Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/15030-claimedboychuk-to-the-meute-final-66/#findComment-159670 Share on other sites
