Just got NBA 2K14 as well, gonna download tonight. Gotta love Playstation Plus. I don't even know how many $40-$60 games I've gotten in the last year and I only paid 50 bucks for it. Well worth the price.

Would be really nice if it allowed me to remotely turn my system on though so I could download while at work. The automatic updates will turn my system on but only in the middle of the night with how its currently set.

Got Bioshock Infinite, which was amazing because i probably would have never gotten it otherwise.

Well over 100 bucks in free / discounted stuff since being a member. It really is a great service.

Well, I was excited to play NBA 2K14 tonight but my internet has other plans it seems. Started the download over an hour and a half ago and it’s only at 15%. I miss the fiber op I had at home :(

14 hours later I'm still only at like 35% downloaded on NBA 2k14. Mental note: go to my friend's finer op to download a game.

It's fucking 8GB, even at 1Mbps (which isn't unreasonably fast) that would download in under 2 and a half hours. At this rate it's going to take 36 hours. I don't even want to calculate how slow that is… although I did anyway and (if my math is right) it comes out to around 63Kbps…  <_<

Ok, I am out of my comfort zone here. I do not play video games unless it is NHL and with the guys in my apartment. I just finished Bioshock Infinate and holy hell!

Man, I need more. I loved the story and I liked the idea that it did not require me to try real hard as the gameplay was set on medium because honestly, I don't play video games

Any suggestions of games that would interest me because of the story line?

I recently borrowed Tomb Raider from a co-worker and found it was actually much better than I thought. Pretty good prequel story and strong gameplay mechanics. If you have a PS3 the uncharted series is pretty good.

Generally if you want story then some indie steam games might be good, depends which one you pick though.

On the Tomb Raider front, since I mentioned it, is it bad that as a Sony gamer and fan I preferred it to Uncharted? Uncharted is a strong series (haven’t played the third one much, but beat the first two) but it can feel kinda linear at times and I really hate that there is no real way to stealth except following a very specific timing and path; plus if you get spotted 30 guys who weren’t there before suddenly appeared. At least Tomb Raider offers the bow to silently take guys out and doesn’t usually FORCE the player into a fight.

Story wise though Uncharted was much better in my mind. I liked what they did with Croft in Tomb Raider and it isn't a prequel by the way, was a reboot. The new Lara Croft = less of a bad ass intentionally which I liked. More down to earth character. But gameplay wise Tomb Raider was a mess. Bullet sponge for enemies that go down quicker when you use the bow, useless side mechanics in the game that are tacked on to add content. (like hunting) One of the generally most interesting concepts in that game was actually the tombs you could raid, but there were way too little of them. Story wise it kind of fell flat for me, crazy curse crazy island crazy people. :P The back tracking to find collectibles and such was a nice touch, but all the side stuff in generally really gets you is weapon upgrades, and you can honestly play that entire game save for a few bosses just using the bow and such.

This isn't limited to just tomb raider but games like that and Uncharted also have some of the most frustrating "game logic" ever. I played Uncharted before I started delving into games like Dark Souls and Spelunky and games with a far more balanced and well designed set of game rules, but in both Tomb Raider and Uncharted the concept of linearity did exist. Your in a room that you have to finish a puzzle to solve to get through. You get through it, and you need to jump to a specific platform to get on top of something. There are some times where the game doesn't indicate what platform it actually is, so I find myself jumping to other platforms that my character could actually reach and grab up to, but of course...the game rules dictate that you can only get up on that one special platform even if "technically" given the skills they have shown your character to have they could go somewhere else.

In terms of quality story games though eQ I'd check out Gone Home or The Stanley Parable for light gameplay mechanic games with some pretty excellent story. If you don't mind thinking either Portal 2 is a game to look at. If you don't mind strange game mechanics like quick time events, Heavy Rain and L.A. Noire are both options. Also Red Dead Redemption is pretty much amazing. I personally loved the story in all the Batman games so if you are a fan of Batman check out the Arkham series as well.

Geesh, way to make me look stupid there Devise :P

It obviously does have it's issues, you covered them pretty well but I did enjoy it for what it is. Maybe I just went into it without trying to take everything too serious. At face value it was pretty good and I did mostly use the now so maybe that helps haha. There are definitely the issues that it shares with Uncharted though, I agree with you. The parkour elements needed more option instead of being like "grab exactly this ledge" but I did find they were a little more obvious in Tomb Raider which is good or had depending on what you want.

I think technically you could qualify it as a reboot and a prequel since it falls before most of the tomb raider games but is definitely rebooting the series.

Anyway, definitely agree with portal, although play both to get the full story and they are better on PC. LA Noire is a pretty good game as well but I found it got really repetitive really fast.

Wait what, roster editor?

works with nhl 09-14, and people have also managed to make Ps3 rosters work on 360 and vice verca/.

Stop teasing me Sandro. :( I sold my PS3 for $300 but have since spent like $150 of that on random food and other nonsense. I have someone interested in my 360 for $160. So I am getting CLOSER to getting the PS4, I'm hoping to pick it up by the end of the month. Sadly the Destiny Beta period will be over so I'll just have to wait till September to get my hands on it.

I was playing the Destiny beta at my friend's place last night for a few hours, definitely a fun game. I really do want to grab it but need to get myself a PS4 first. Game won't be worth it at all on PS3.

It kinda feels like a cross, mechanic wise, between halo motions (jumping, grenade throws, etc) and CoD gunplay. But then it has a bit of Deadspace thrown in with the RPG style elements. Really great combination.

Yeah from what I've seen it's like some hybrid cross of Halo meets modern shooting mechanics meets Borderlands meets some MMO contraptions with some other innovation random ideas mixed in as well. The only real "meh" thing I've seen about it thus far and it is a Beta is the variety of content. Having to go back to your ship as a "loading screen" after every mission, even when you are just loading back to go to the same area is kind of strange. However it does make the whole world feel more connected by doing it the way they are doing it. Even if it can be more time consuming.
