The off-season is still here, and I again struggle to find some topics to speak intelligently for 500 words. The Pro-Am is in full effect after a slight glitch and the World Junior Championship is in the coming days.  The worst thing that is happening is depreciation today which stings but that is the name of the game. So, again sorry if this doesn’t resonate well but need that TPE.  This week’s Around the League will cover random shit.  Period.

VANCOUVER TRADES GUNTIS:

In breaking news, @Frank of the Vancouver Wolves has traded All-Star and potential MVP defenseman, Guntis Gavilrovs @Girts to the New York Americans for maybe the greatest player of all-time, Wayne Gretzky @MubbleFubbles

Guntis is coming off a 100 point and 31 goal season for the Wolves in addition to physical prowess where he smashed players 291 times with multiple fights.  The ultimate team player and fan favorite in Vancouver is set to light up Madison Square Garden now alongside fellow brute, Callum Yanick Janser @Daniel Janser .  This duo makes it no doubt that New York now has the toughest d-pair in the VHL.

Guntis was the victim of a salary cap issue in Vancouver where @Frank had to make some tough decisions.  When asked @Frank said, “I almost cried having to give up such a team player and all-star defender.  The cap is what it is, and the business of hockey sometimes takes over for what I would prefer.  I would have loved to see Guntis finish his career as a Wolf but that just can’t happen now.  We love him in Vancouver, and he will be missed.”

CALGARY PICKS UP BONE-BREAKER

On Feb 20th we saw another trade that showed Calgary is going for it adding all-star defender, Yaboi Oven @Doomsday, VHLM phenom Jean-Pierre Devote @eagle_3450 , and enforcer defenseman, Boris Bone-Breaker @RileyL.  These additions add some depth, elite defending in Oven, and a massive amount of grit in Bone-Breaker.  Boris didn’t shy away from anyone in his rookie season with 168 PIMS, 233 hits, and 141 blocked shots.  I know Boris from his time in Miami and he is a great teammate and is building a player that does the jobs nobody wants a club, but everyone respects.  He could have the best name in the VHL currently (debatable) and I look forward to his career progression.  Best of luck in Calgary Boris! Go easy on Ninefingers!!

AGMS IN THE LEAGUE

OK I saw a recent post about how great it is to be an assistant general manager of a team and was curious if that should be a VHL award at some point??   I am currently the AGM of the Miami Marauders, and I try to be active, available, and relevant to the new members of the VHL community.  AGMs frequently post Press conferences (or should), offer trade advice, scout, and other tasks. My AGM in Vancouver @Gaikoku-hito is the ultimate team player that does all of the above and more.  I have tried to model myself after @Gaikoku-hito in Miami as a person always available to help the GM and players.  Thank you @Gaikoku-hito for setting such a great example!  I hope I am doing half as good in Miami !
